June 5, 200916 yr Member NEWSSTAND DRAMAWhy do soap magazines "steal" exclusive news stories from the online world? Someone call the soap police because there's a robbery in progress. The magazine world is currently taking credit for the following hot news stories: Chris Engen quits Y&R; Sean Kanan back on Y&R; Tuc Watkins returns to One Life; Melody Thomas Scott in Y&R contract dispute. Memo to Soaps In Depth, Soap Opera Weekly, and Soap Opera Digest: TVGuide.ca and daytimeconfidential.com broke the aforementioned news stories, not you thieves. Do you think giving TVGuide.ca and Daytime Confidential credit for our reporting will decrease your sales? Don’t you have faith in your product? We credit everyone — and our numbers aren't suffering; in fact, they continue to prosper. Also, by the way, Soaps In Depth — TVGuide.ca is NOT an online blog. [Editor's note: True that.] BWAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Considering how much those two have jacked over the years (and only recently started to give soucres on magazine articles they copy) this is freaking CLASSIC. http://tvguide.sympatico.msn.ca/Soaps/Suds..._news_nelson_NB
June 5, 200916 yr Member I hate when the so called reporters act like babies and throw a fit over things like this. It's worse than board owners arguing over who owns spoilers.
June 5, 200916 yr Member I love Celebrity Deathmatch. We should get a tag team of Nelson Branco and the Daytime Confidential crew in the ring against the soap mags crew. It would be hilarious. Steve Frame is extremey fair so he can do the officiating. I will do the commentating. Edited June 5, 200916 yr by Ann_SS

June 6, 200916 yr Member Oh my [!@#$%^&*] god, Nelson. How can someone "own" a news story!? You can not "own" "Chris Engen leaves Y&R." How do you "own" that? Edited June 6, 200916 yr by All My Shadows
June 6, 200916 yr Member Memo to Nelson, other people also have sources. Im not syaing soap magz never steal anything, but really... he is far from the only person to know about many things. He may be the first to report it tho, ill give him that.

I think what he's saying is, the SOD stories should say, "As initially broken by TVGuide Canada's Nelson Branco, Chris Engen is leaving Y&R...." It wouldn't actually cost them anything to do that. They obviously won't do it because they are afraid their last survivors (7 women, each over 65 years of age) will discover the internet, get their scoop elsewhere, and drop the magazines. Oh well, with all of SourceInterlink's financial troubles, it's not like the mags will be around much longer anyway.

June 6, 200916 yr Author Member What I find even funnier is that DC has stuff from my site up today without credit--even though it says you can use the videos with credit to my site.
