I don't remember much about Ben McKinnon other than he was an early pairing with Marley, correct? I think a Ben/Marley/Jake/Vicky quad could have been interesting for a while.

I always found Vince to be annoying and Mary was only tolerable because of Denise Alexander. The initial story of Marissa being Mary was alright and then her character fell flat. Cheryl was another bland character.

Other than Jake and Kathleen, I found MJ to be the only interesting one in the family but the show ruined it when they made her a former prostitute. I was a big Adam/MJ fan but I hated that story with Chad. I no longer cared after that.

I liked MJ better under Layman...I always felt like SS was a playing a different character...I liked her, but Layman was great in the role. I half expected MJ/Larry/Clarice when she was on.

Ben could have been brought back, and Nancy, too. Richard Steen was okay in the part, but even with a different actor, Ben could have definitely been Jake's rival.(good boy vs. bad boy)...

ITA that Maisie and Quinn were killed off for their age, nothing more. Both characters had plenty of story left...

They brought on Jake's half-brother Kevin who shared the same father but Kevin turned out to worse than Jake. They later brought on his son but the show was cancelled not long after they introduced him so they ended up doing nothing him although the actor was none other than Paul Wesley.

In the Times Square subway station here in NYC there's a salon/barber shop which hasn't bothered to replace photos of "hairstyle models" since the mid 1980s and one of them is the girl who played Cheryl McKinnon!

I found a random ANOTHER WORLD episode from 1988 in my collection -- can anyone help me identify around when it was broadcast?

In it, Iris has recently started work at Cory again (and seems to be up to no good...) and there's Felicia being asked to write her autobiography and reacting very negatively to it. Do we know what month?

October 28, 1988- Iris showed up at the door of the Cory mansion. On the Thursday, October 27th, episode you heard her ring the bell, but you did not see her. Rachel answered the door and said in a surprised voice "Iris!" The freeze frame of the episode was on Rachel, so you were left wondering until the October 28th episode who would be playing Iris.

    • I'm pretty sure this ep is  from Dec 73 From the Daytime Serial Newsletter Ian and Valerie Northcote are deeply concerned over Laurie's  life being increasingly dominated by hallucinations and fantasies about Georgina, the former owner of the house the Reddins recently bought and are now living in. Doreen Post (Linda Purl) was involved in that story .Perhaps she was going to be revealed as Georgina's daughter? Wonder how that story evolved and whether it was wrapped up before cancellation? and thanks to @skylark

    • Many thanks to @skylark and @DRW50!
    • Thank u so much! I love that show and the more I see of it the more I want to find more of it even if it’s just in script form. But that house and especially the room looked like Victoria Winters room from dark shadows lol  this was great find! Thanks
    • I genuinely thought when they said she had been throwing up, we were going to get a pregnancy story. I’m actually not convinced we aren’t. Especially the way she and Doug danced around her own infidelity.
    • Shouldn't it be the other way? I don't think Taylor Hayes is playing Rebecca Budig.

    • And the most detailed discussion I've seen from an industry figure about some of JFP's worst choices as a producer (steamrolling over writers) was from another woman, Megan McTavish.
    • IMDb is definitely incorrect, because the final week of episodes in 1974 is uploaded to Youtube in audio form, and Mark and Laurie are there until the very end. The last episode shows Mark going back to the priesthood. I looked at the newspaper and the earliest reference to their house being haunted by Georgina is in December of 1973. This is dated Dec 14, but this same synopsis ran in the papers until the end of December in other publications. So it must have been within those last 3-4 months. I think Stephanie Braxton joined around 1969-1970 so that's probably right. I saw it stated in other newspapers that David Gale joined around September 1972.

    • Opal having siblings could add to the story. However, it raises questions about Tad's adoption. Why were the Martins allowed to adopt him if Tad had aunts or uncles who could have cared for him?  Logic limited the number of possible Gardner's (and whatever Opal's maiden name was).  Even though Linda Thorson would have been a hysterical choice given her British accent.  Especially because SOD often published questions by readers who wondered why Tad and Jenny didn't speak like their mother.   All of which is still not an excuse for Tad's evil doppelgänger Ted.
