Ya know, with Gl holding steady at a 1.7, I'm wondering what that means for the other shows. If it truly is as bad as we think and the other shows drop, could GL tie or even surpass a few of the others? Let's watch...

I can't say that I wasn't hoping for more.. but I'll look on the bright side in that all the other soaps dropped and GL held steady. If GL can have Otalia front and center with Phillip, the show really has a chance to pull in more and more new viewers. To me, this week was even better than last week and next week looks to be a big Otalia week! :D

What's funny is, no can take a joke...

Soap returns don't work anymore, find me a return, other than Vanessa Marcil, that's paid off in the ratings over the past 10 years?

GL staying the same in households and 18-49 is good, but the days of soaps rising significantly are over, deal with it.

Oh, and GL walked right into my joke with their tacky promotional campaign, and for that, I certainly have no apologies to make.

Every soap dropped except GL. I'd say that's good news for GL. I'd even venture to say that, given its budget vs those of the other, more expensively-produced shows, and how close its ratings are next to OLTL and AMC, that the ol' gal just may stick around for a while.

You are right, big splashy returns never work and never really have. However, perhaps it's some weird newfound optimism that I've found, but this is potentially great news. Although I think we all were hoping for some big jump, a one-week splurge means nothing. Nada. But if the show can continue to improve (and make no mistake, there are several areas in which it NEEDS to improve), then I can see the show rising gradually. In fact, considering that we are at a 1.7 heading into March sweeps could be quite good for the show if they can keep it up. Will they? That's for another time. But some of the rumblings have me guardedly hopeful.

BTW: In a related note, what IDIOTS the Neilson Co. are for moving the sweeps to March, when typically most shows slump in the ratings, daytime included. If GL can rise in these conditions, that would be an incredible feat.

GL Holding Steady at 1.7 is great. Let's just hope they continue to build on that and keep delivering good writing. Eventually David Kreizman's remaining stories will be phased out and JLH will have a firm grip on the writing. With Mindy and Michelle returning and others in the works GL might have fighting chance to survive to 2010.
