I completely agree. It's never been lost on me how many people salivate to go after the older women in the party, and forget Feinstein's long and distinguished record. But I also think Feinstein is ill, has made some key mistakes on her own recognizance that aren't connected to that, and purely for health reasons shouldn't still be in that seat. YMMV.

I think there's a  certain  nuance which  the online left refuses to appreciate and makes them easier to ignore. As a result, their complaints about Feinstein, and also about Merrick Garland and how his ties to the establishment have been detrimental to our democracy, fall on deaf ears.

I have no doubt that something is wrong with Feinstein and that some succession planning should've started quite a while. But there's no good to come from trying to drive her out of office. She's not hurting anyone. Targeting her is just the standard tactic by the left to purge and purify the Democratic party. It's never about building the coalition but always about making it smaller and more extreme.

Maybe is just my Black Gen-X upbringing but going after elders just for being elders doesn't sit well with me. I mean folks here know how much I despise Bernie Sander but even I don't go after him based on his age.

I see that NPR, one of the  more reliable corporate media mouthpieces, is still focusing on the leak rather than the ruling itself.

I have  mixed feelings as if the recall had not gone the way it  did, then she likely would have been replaced by a Republican. For the time being, I agree her staying in office is harmless, but I do think when it gets to a point of the person having to rely so  much  on others to get through, a question about responsibility and genuine care for her well-being starts to come to mind.

Yep. These midterms are going to be very interesting to see how voters across the country are going to vote and the issue(s) that mean the most to them and why they want their vote to matter. From a macro-perspective, is it:

  • Gun Reform
  • Inflation/Economy
  • Abortion

Since we do live in an individualistic culture, we have this "me! me! me!" mentality. Therefore, I see a lot of voters turning up because of the inflation issues and how the state of the economy is effecting their financial pockets. Then again, I feel like the other two issues will release the hornets nest. Or will it? Are people so stuck on themselves that inflation will be the major issue that surpasses their thoughts on gun reform and reproductive rights? These midterms are going to be very interesting in my opinion.

I was trying to watch the hearing on the CSPAN youtube channel, and it wanted me to sign into youtube and say I am over 18 years of age.

I guess due to the violence?

But a google account is needed to sign into youtube and NO I'm not going to do that.

I could watch on c-span.org but the video is more choppy.

So I'm watching on the washingtonpost youtube channel.

The first hour and a half is just talking heads of news analysis.

The hearings start at one hour and 31 minutes into this video.

(They committee took a ten-minute break from 2:30:00 to 2:40:00, which is full of news analysis you can fast-forward through)

    • It's so jarring seeing the changeover from Sherry Mathis to Louan Gideon.  The vibe, mannerisms, and overall personality of Liza changes instantly. The chemistry Sherry has with both David F and Joe Lambie is gone the second the recast happens.  I wonder how viewers took the news of the recast since you didn't have time in between airings before the change happened. Quinn/Sarah... One overacts (Quinn) and one under acts (Sarah). Wendy of 1985 is a good mix of the 1982 sweet Wendy and the 1983/84 vixenish Wendy.
    • Oups!! I guess when i was doing the editing, i left a part of 3169, too (RTL Lounge airs 2 episodes per day back to back). Sorry about that ! Tonight i ll try to record 3171-3172. If i m not mistaken 3172 is missing from YouTube.

    • I would put Felicia in the 'small dose' auntie category because she means well, but comes on too strongly at times.  In small doses, she would be a blast to hang out with.. but in anything larger than a small... she would be exhausting. I tend to prefer lower key people than people that are always 'on' all the time.  Those people can veer off into energy vampire status pretty quickly.
    • I didn't like the Harry story, but Nazar did have a great introduction. He was probably the highlight of last year.  Now that you mention it, I guess the truly dire stories (Nicole, Harper/Drew/Phil, Nicole) didn't start until summer.
    • thank you all for contributing to the Vault. I am slowly getting towards watching the 1998 episodes

    • I pray⏤and I know it's a big prayer⏤that Noel Maxam is somehow able to figure things out budget-wise so we can stop re-dressing existing sets as "new" sets. I know in apartment buildings apartments can generally look the same, but I'm over it on this soap. The last time he was executive producer was in 2011 when the original Horton Town Square was introduced, and we had some other sets get introduced around this time (likely pre-commissioned prior to his election), but I'm trying to have some hope he can pull this off. Let's [finally] see it.
    • Definitely not the best of RC's breakdowns. I don't know what it says that I could pick up his trademarks yesterday 30 minutes in without even knowing that he did one. There was something more...quirky/boardstroked...about Dani. Though I love the Dani/Nicole scenes, she was just a little too hip?...which made me think back to the episode when she broke into Bill/Hayley's house. Then watching the episode later on, I saw Hayley was being used as a punchline to the more interesting and relevant Bill/Ted scenes (see you all were just talking about how you hoped they got scenes...one thing this show is great at...what people want on this board...they already have the foresight for it. The reason I feel the DNA test will get mentioned @Cheap21 in more detail). And then poor Anita reduced for the most part propping up an album.    Needless to say, not my favorite RC episode. And since we are in aftermath week, I just smh. And barely worth a rewatch. BUT...was there good for me?    Yes. Thankfully, we still got good aftermath beats regardless of the breakdown.   Like I said, I really like the Dani/Nicole scenes. But I love their dynamic. And I was looking forward to the shoe being on the other foot once the SilkPress storyline hit climax. Quirks aside, it did not disappoint. Dani came in, and she came in fierce for her sister. I loved her attacking Eva. And then her being surprisingly introspective about Nicole due to her own experience. No wonder Nicole reacted to her being self-aware. So did I.    Meanwhile Bill and Ted finally met up. I'm kinda sad that we did not get that sooner given the scenes that played out sidepiece in the background aside. It might have been interesting to see more of their status as non-Duprees coming into the family explored.    And of course I can't leave without mentioning Eva vs SilkPress Sheila which was the highlight. Both of them were giving. And SilkPress was just so cold with it. I did love that Eva finally stopped letting her gaslight her. Sad to see the duo break up. But I did love that she went to Ted. So...the next turn begins.   And speaking of turns...uh oh at Kat and Tomas. I'm sure he won't be staying away from her. So most definitely, Kat vs Eva ain't over. It will be interesting to see how it goes now that most people know that Kat was right all along.
    • Nah I enjoyed it much more last year because of the Harry plot that ended during that time. Nazar being introduced and them. But this time it is so lame and nothing I like forward to anymore and I’m one of them long time fans. Of course I would be upset if they would cancel it but maybe take a year off or two and return refreshed
