All My Children

- Sabine Singh was fine as Greenlee, and Rebecca Budig didn't need to return.

- I enjoyed B&E's time as Co-Head Writers. They are the ones that made me a true fan of AMC.

- I think Susan Lucci is completely overrated and not the icon the daytime world makes her out to be. Erica Kane is a horrible character.

- I hate Zach and Kendall together.

- I don't mind Ryan Lavery. I wish they would get him away from Zach, Kendall and Greenlee.

The Bold and the Beautiful

- Ridge and Brooke are my favorite couple on this show.

- Kyle Lowder will never be Rick to me. Total miscast.

- I don't know if the rising presence of the Logan family is popular, but I hate that they're overpowering the Forresters.

Days of our Lives

- Jay K. Johnson and Kristen Renton have no chemistry together as Philip and Morgan.

- EJ and Nicole should be nothing more than friends. There's no romantic chemistry between them.

- Aside from her first few scenes with Nicole, Tamara Braun's run as Ava Vitali was a complete bust.

- Lucas and Sami should never be reunited romantically.

- Hogan Sheffer and his writing team made DAYS a real soap opera again.

General Hospital

- I love Claudia Zacchara.

- I don't see the point of Kate Howard anymore and she should probably leave.

- Sonny and Carly belong together.

One Life to Live

- Catherine Hickland and Lindsay Rappaport are no longer needed on this show. She should be sent to jail for a long time.

- Kristen Alderson is a horrible actress.

The Young and the Restless

- I love Christel Khalil as Lily Winters.

- I don't mind Sabrina. I think the character has a lot of potential if she wasn't written so dry and boring. They should've given her an edge from the beginning.

- Jack and Sharon are disgusting together.

- Nicholas and Phyllis should never have become a legit couple.

- Jack Smith is one of my favorite writers and I wish he would return to Y&R.

- JT and Victoria are horribly boring together and need to be broken up or given some spice in their life.

Couple more....

Andrea Evans is overrated. I don't like her as Tina.

I enjoyed Passions and thought it was entertaining. The DL story was good.

Doris (OC) should be signed to a contract on GL.

Can't stand Roger Howarth.

Can't stand John Hensley.

I think Melissa Claire Egan is one of the best actresses to hit AMC since Eden Riegal

I hate TSJ as Todd

Jess Walton is overated

I hate Fake Coward Kate Howard, and think Megan Ward is a terrible actress

Alison Sweany is a piss poor actress

I like Marcie McBain

Some more unpopular opinions:

- Jack & Erica (AMC) should not get back together. Ever.

- Neither, for that matter, should Josh & Reva (GL). (In fact, as far as those two are concerned, their story, IMO, was finished when Josh left for Venezuela.) Josh should die, and Billy and Reva should be left behind to pull the Lewis clan back together.

- Adam Chandler (AMC) has been repeating himself, basically, since 1989, and he needs to leave Pine Valley.

- Dr. Bob (ATWT) should be recast.

- DAYS fans are destroying their own show.

I think Claire Labine's tenure on GL was and how horrid it was, was mostly her fault. Of course Rauch and MADD had a hand in it, but not as much.

Dena Higley is still writing pure sh!t over at DAYS, and I prefer the final months of Hogan's tenure to hers tenure currently on DAYS. IMO Hogan was more of a fit for DAYS than both ATWT and Y&R.

I don't find the dialogue and acting on OLTL all that bad.

General:

I don't think daytime is bad at all.

James E. Reilly is my favorite writer in the history of the world.

Daytime fans are too critical of everything and it causes them to pay more attention to behind the scenes information that what they see on their screens.

DAYS

- I hate Hogan Sheffer and everything that he did while writing the show.

- Tom Langan wasn't that bad.

- Jan Spears was my favorite character.

- I liked Heather Olson's acting.

- I enjoyed Melaswen and most of JER's second run.

- I hate Chelsea and want her off the show....same with Stephanie and Max.

AMC

I love McTavish and pretty much everything that she wrote.

I liked Zoe and Bianca.

I hate B&E. The only thing I've liked from them was Zach's crazy ex...and Jesse/Angie's wedding.

Amanda is criminally under-used.

ATWT

Gwen was my favorite character...and I enjoyed seeing her everyday.

I loved Jade.

Passante has only started being a not-so-good writer in the past few months.

Van Hansis has sucked at acting ever since they put him front-burner.

PSNS

Most of their actors aren't that bad.

Passions is my favorite soap.

Shuis belong together.

GH

I don't think the show is bad.

I like Guza's writing....and enjoy his mob tales.

I hate Scrubs and wouldn't mind seeing Robin and Patrick off the show.

Sonny and Carly belong together.

I love Jennifer Bransford and Laura Wright.

I want to see Carly every single day.

Claudia is a great character...so is Johnny.

I hate Sonny/Kate and REALLY hate Kate.

OLTL

I liked most of Dena Higley's run.

I'm glad Nora exposed Lindsay...I like both characters, but I want to see Lindsay as she's meant to be-- wicked and getting what's coming to her.

Margaret Cochran was my favorite character in the history of daytime.

Y&R

I loved LML and watched pretty much everyday while she was writing. I also enjoyed Jack Smith.

Sheila 2005 return rocked.

Pheila wasn't bad either.

I like seeing Phyllis all the time...same with Gloria.

Jana is one of my favorite characters. I'm so glad she's being used.

Without Colleen, Adrian is kind of interesting.

Lily/Cane are only interesting when Chloe is in the picture.

Ding ding! We have a winner! For most the most shocking statements in this thread.

I get that KKL's little-girl-lost act is an acquired taste. But Jeanne Cooper? Adore her. She's like Daytime's diva-grandma. Say it ain't so, Queen!

Still love ya. ;)

I think Lauralee Bell, Michael Damian, Jacob Young (on B&B) Michael Easton, Roger Howarth, Ron Moss, and Terri Colombino are just fine.

Y&R:I always thought Crickett and Danny should've been together.

I loved Susan Walters as Diane.

I think Adrienne Leon is overrated. As are Eileen Davidson and Shemar Moore.

Victoria Rowell is OTT but is stellar during her quieter scenes.

I really liked the epilepsy storyline on Y&R.

I think Eric Braeden is really gross right now. Every time the opening credits roll where he's kissing MTS, I wanna gag.

I don't think Michael Graziadei is hot. At all.

OLTL: I loved Todd's execution scene.

I got re-hooked to OLTL during the Spencer Truman/finding Tommy storyline. Loved it.

I kinda hate that Jess has DID.

I don't like Erika Slezak of late. She's been such a crybaby (see Asa's funeral: Kevin and Joey's departure; break-up with Charlie).

I never thought Timothy D. Stickney was that good.

Catherine Hickland irks me.

I kinda wish Kathy Brier would lose the weight...

ATWT: I think Jennifer Landon was overrated. As was Benjamin Hendrickson, although both are good.

Leslie Kay annoyed me as Molly.

Was it not more to do with her job on Hairspray on Broadway? Something about she was losing weight from performing every night but had to keep it on because of the character she was playing had to be a bigger girl?

AE must be a lover her or hate her thing. I think she is one of the alltime best. It isn't her great acting, but she brings something undefinable to Tina and anything she does.

For me in the crazy 80s she was what OLTL meant to me, along with Asa, Gabrielle, and (boringly) Viki. Quirky yet fabulous.

    • Marland was long gone by this point.  He quit in either August/September 1982. I think it was due to letting the actress play out her contract and use her for party scenes and/or scenes with Phillip/Justin.   I was surprised she was still on in June 1983 myself, because I figured she had been written out before Pam Long joined the writing staff. Thankfully, having episodes uploaded during this period on Spauldingfield YT site has helped to connect some of the dots.  It looks as though Pam Long starts the first week or so of May 1983.. and in those first few weeks: Morgan and Evie were both written off and Lillian/Mindy/Billy/Beth/Annabelle all come onto the show.

    • Doug III’s first day of work. Hope he does a good job… or that Tate tries to sabotage him somehow

His scenes with Holly were nice though. They’re sweet together and I understand why some people think that they have more chemistry than Tate/Holly do. And I liked that Doug III opened up to her about his past. Maybe that could lead to something good happening in the future.  I also enjoyed Roman and Kate, and how they’re both being tied into EJ’s shooting. The mystery of it all is really compelling. I don’t think Roman is the shooter though either.  I didn’t have much sympathy for Kristen though. She has no one to blame for Rachel’s problems than herself. But at the same time, I’m really surprised that Days actually remembered the Alex/Kristen fling. I thought Ron had erased that from existence. I’m not shipping them at all, but I’m definitely shipping a permanent end to Brady/Kristen but after today, I’m not so sure about that either.  And, Johnny and Chanel were still great together

    • Some country club revelation thoughts from a casual watcher no one asked for. The Great: Daphnee Duplaix gave the best performance we've seen yet. Nicole's dialogue was also well thought out and felt character specific. TJ Maxx Ted was also pretty good. Trisha Mann-Grant steals every scene she's in. Often without even trying. Carrying multiple episodes worth of exposition heavy soap dialogue with starts and stops and recapping and drama and humor is no small feat and she nailed. Vernon telling Lesliana to STFU.  The Bad: So much of the dialogue for the rest of the cast was overly written. Martin said "You are a vile human being with a hole in your heart!". Marty, what are we doing? It's SO dramatic and sounds so silly coming from this grown man. Do Bill and Hayley do anything but talk about the Duprees? And the nerve of her to get so excited to find out Ted is a cheater when she and her husband are too. There should be a hint of shame mixed in with your glee, ma'am. The Questionable: Coffee and a rendition of Amazing Grace after finding out Nicole was betrayed by her husband. The Duprees are an odd bunch. The stinger of one segment had Anita prepared to lambast Lesliana, when we came back someone else was talking. When Anita eventually said something to Wig, it was a lukewarm at best. And then of course she thought singing a song about something that should absolutely not be extended to her son-in-law. The entire family allowing this deranged woman to speech at them in their own was...nuts. I know she said something about what would the neighbors say but my GOD. Is she just going to be allowed to trespass whenever she feels like it now? The focus on Leslie and her wig usage as an oddity is...odd. I think Chelsea said something like "and she wears wigs!" (while wearing a buss down middle part). Okay? It's just not that odd for a black woman to change up her hair. It's the different names that's the problem. I know it's meant to be humorous, in a throwback soap kind of way, but it fell flat for me.  I'm sorry I find the whole family to be WEIRD. It's like they want us to see them as ruthless yet benevolent, open yet furtive, snobbish yet tooth achingly sweet all at the same time. I cannot get a lock on the family dynamics. Everyone is just there.  I'm gonna cry if this show doesn't start giving us ages (or close to it!) for these characters. Because if Eva is 21-22 then Martin was being given crayons, a soda pop and blinders when he was 15-17 years old. Martin had to have been under 8 for me to buy this story, which would make Eva and Kat late 20s (Martin is at least 35 since he wants to run for president), which I don't think they're meant to be. It's honestly minor but it bothers me. I've mentioned this to @Vee but I think the optics on opening the show with both sisters discovering their husbands of over 30 years are cheaters should've been considered. I doubt there was any intention behind it, no one's rubbing their hands together as they scheme to say the married black men can't stay loyal but how does it look? Maybe it's just me. Honestly it's probably just me!
    • Thank you very much!!!! I really appreciate it!!! I also have read the GH coffee table book from the 90s!!!
