Thank you for reading them - I have one or two more from 1982 that I don't think have been posted. When I have a chance I will put them up. There's always Doctors-related stuff but I know it can get repetitive so I'm glad to know someone is enjoying them.

The WLS soaps article on line today in memory of Haila Stoddard 'Daytime Delilahs' mentions Joan Anderson on The Doctors, but, oddly doesn't mention the character's name.

She played Nora, Maggie's sister. The only mention I have seen of this character is that she was at one stage involved with,or trying to steal Matt.It seems she married a character named Steve Lloyd, played by soap vet Craig Huebing. Joanna Petter is listed as playing Judy Stratton Lloyd,so i assume there was some connection to the Steve Lloyd

Does anyone have any extra info on mid 60's TD?.History books only ever mention Matt and Maggie and then skip to Steve,Carolee and Althea.

Other interesting early characters included Dorothy Blackburn as Nurse Brown, Ruth McDevitt (who seemed to turn up in every 60's sitcom as a sweet little old lady) as Mrs McMurtie and Althea's mother Edna Hamilton played by Joanna Roos (who played Van and Meg's mom on LOL) ,Florence Williams and Margaret Baker.

There was a character named Jessie Bartok, played by Jocelyn Somers, who may have been Kate's mother, Edward Kemmer as Stowe Phillips and Louise Lasser as Jackie.

I have never seen any reference to these characters in synopses.

This is a month old so maybe not relevant, but Lois Smith was great fun as crazy Eleanor Conrad, who was the obstacle between Althea and Dr. Scott Conrad. Though in the 70s it was all about Althea and Nick Bellini, so I don't think the audience ever really expected anything to happen with Scott. Gerald Gordon would come and go as Nick, but eventually he went for real, moving to California to join GH with much fanfare (I think when they expanded to an hour).

Lois Smith has remained a favorite of mine in many guest-starring rolss since, including Aunt Betsy Cramer on OLTL, and not long ago I finally saw her in a pre-DOCTORS role in the film Next Stop, Greenwich Village (1974).

Thanks for sharing that. I'm sorry she didn't enjoy her experience more, but it sounds like an interesting role.

I know Liz Hubbard said, in 1986, she still had people asking her about Nick.

Did Althea have anything to do between the time Nick left for good and when Liz Hubbard left in 1978 or 1977?

Thanks for posting these Carl. I particularly read the first scan, since I've grown quite fond of reading that era of The Doctors, late 1980-early 1981. It's quite interesting to say the least, seeing as how OLTL's former EP Doris Quinlan was producing the show at the time.

    • Hopefully they can expand some of the sets again. I watched some 04/05 episodes and forgot how much more grand the production used to feel. I wonder if YR will be staying put or going there or somewhere else as well.
    • DAYS posted the recipe! https://www.instagram.com/p/DKiMVZvuZje/ dayspeacock June 5, 2025 Tomorrow is National Donut Day! Here’s Alice Horton’s famous recipe! #NationalDonutDay #Donuts #Recipe #DOOL #Days #Daysofourlives #TBT Ingredients: 2 eggs 1 cup of sugar 1 cup of milk 5 tablespoons melted shortening 1-teaspoon vanilla extract 4 cups all-purpose flour, sifted before measuring 4 teaspoons baking powder ½ teaspoon salt 1 stick butter, melted Cinnamon Sugar In a large bowl, beat the eggs until foamy. Gradually add sugar, beating constantly. Stir in milk, shortening and vanilla. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to the wet ingredients, mixing well. Cover and chill the dough for 30 minutes to one hour for easier handling. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Spray baking sheet with vegetable cooking spray. Roll out or pat the dough on a lightly floured board to a half inch thickness. Cut with a doughnut cutter. Place the doughnuts and holes on the baking sheet, one inch apart. Bake for 10 – 15 minutes or until golden brown. Brush each doughnut and doughnut holes with melted butter and roll in Cinnamon Sugar to coat all sides. Makes about 36 doughnuts. Cinnamon Sugar: 1 cup of sugar 1 teaspoon of cinnamon In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon, blending well.
    • "Jordan and Robert have the best brother chemistry. " They certainly did!  And that chemistry worked no matter who served as the protagonist in a given scene or story.  A shame that a full-blown story was never developed for those two.  Wouldn't have needed to be adversarial, either.  Maybe a serious, unexpected, long-term outside threat, business or personal, to one of the brothers with the other coming to his aid.

I was able to find most of them. I am not sure if you did 1974-1977 but I did not find it in the 70s thread. This is an amazing resource for EVERY soap.  1973 https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/41800-ratings-from-the-70s/page/78/#comments 1973 more research https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/41800-ratings-from-the-70s/page/80/#comments 1973 Update https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/41800-ratings-from-the-70s/page/82/#comments 1978 https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/50145-ratings-from-the-80s/page/135/#comments 1979-1988 https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/50145-ratings-from-the-80s/page/115/#comments 1989  https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/50145-ratings-from-the-80s/page/122/#comment-1876530 1990-1999  https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/58300-ratings-from-the-90s/page/11/#comments 2000-2004  https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/58300-ratings-from-the-90s/page/58/#comments
    • Mrs. H used the donuts to distract from the expensive jewels that she hid in the walls of her kitchen.  Now, it all makes sense...

I thought a smart cookie like Caroline Brady would've had the chance to hide a bauble of her own from her dalliance with Victor.
