That is fine by me! Although the rumors of a Moira/Cain affair turn my stomach. They clearly have no idea what to do with these characters.

Did you read their interview about the assisted suicide story? Just offensive, sick storyline, one of the most offensive I've ever seen on a soap.

With Paddy feeling left out next week, can it be too hopeful of me that Blackburn will reunite Marlon and Rhona and have them leave the village forever?

I will admit, I do like that Paddy will be going to Chas for advice, instead of the other way around. Their complex friendship is one of the best things about the show, and is needed more in soap, period.

Her return would be magical if written correctly. Through her, and the children, we could get the returns of Scott Windsr and Kim Tate, we'd have a pseudo Sugden around and it would hopefully make Charity interesting again.

Why am I not surprised that we see no farmland anywhere?

It starts off like a car commercial. It's not a real advertisement for Emmerdale.

The theme is OK, but it sounds like one of those old, dirty records that skips, and loops back - it repeats itself several times for no apparent reason.

At least foot fetishists will be pleased.

I don't mind the new arrangement as much as I do the start of the opening with the scene of the car. The way the opening starts reminds me of a car commercial. The title card is boring, with it simply being black, and the font is boring as well.

It could have been worse, but it could have been a lot better too IMO.

The greenscreen used made it look really fake. Even Corrie's opening looks more real than this. It just looks cheap.

The revamped theme really takes out of the punch of the original arrangement.

I know many Emmerdale diehards hated the previous theme, but I never had a problem with it. Sure, it was a little overblown, but this one here just tries too hard. The pausing, the weird chords, the cymbal crashes, etc. Too much.

The credits are a lot of nothing. That basically represents today's Emmerdale, sadly, but it's not very pleasant to watch. I can't believe they started off with the car ad. Why?

'Emmerdale' exit for Leyla Harding

Emmerdale star Rokhsaneh Ghawam-Shahidi has decided to leave the soap after three years in the role of Leyla Harding.

The actress chose not to renew her contract with the ITV1 show and will film her final scenes as Leyla later this month, the Daily Star Sunday reports.

Speaking to the newspaper, Ghawam-Shahidi confirmed: "I have had an amazing three years at Emmerdale and it has been a really tough decision to leave."

News of Leyla's departure comes just days before viewers will see her receive an unexpected proposal from boyfriend David Metcalfe, played by Matthew Wolfenden.

The feisty character has also been tipped for further clashes with sister Alicia Gallagher (Natalie Anderson) before making her departure. Emmerdale's sibling duo have frequently been at odds over youngster Jacob, who was raised by Alicia despite being Leyla's biological son.

Details of Leyla's exit storyline are currently unknown. However, teasing the possible consequences for Alicia, David and Jacob, a source told the tabloid: "There will be more than one broken heart when she goes."

Corrinne Wicks (Ella Hart), Sapphire Elia (Mia Macey), Kelsey-Beth Crossley (Scarlett Nicholls), Kirsty-Leigh Porter (Roz Fielding) and Suzanne Shaw (Eve Jenson) are among a number of other Emmerdale cast members who are due to depart screens in the coming months.

Now, this is one departure I am sad about. I love Leyla, and will be sad to see her leave, but I'm glad it was her decision and she wasn't pushed out the door.
