Agreed. Soaps need to revert to punishing rapists.

It makes Linda look just as bad as Dean at the end of the day; however, we know all of Walford will justify her actions.

I still don't get the gist of this Keanu murder crap because Linda was justified in killing him. He was literally about to choke the life out of Sharon.

I think that they were afraid of having no one believing them since they had two bodies there. Which I though was a clever way. Had it only been Keanu (without Nish) I would think they same.

But I hope the truth comes out at some point, in spite of Dean potentially being set free. But I would use that to make Dean just go out on a revenge spree and that makes him get arrested and back to prison for real. And for the ladies, I am hoping for some forgotten security camera at the pub that saves Linda.

I think they just need to squash this story at this point. I'd think it'd be more compelling if they just wrapped it up with Dean and the women (and other people who know) keep it a secret for years to come. Then in about 5-10 years, have Jade return to the Square, unmask the truth, and go on a rampage against the women that are still in the Square at that time.

I would not mind that.

But yes, as much as I enjoyed the story, this resolution as played out by now, is not the best one, so I like your proposal. Lets see

I can possibly see Dean running into Keanu's yet to be seen father in prison, and Keanu's dad coming to the square to enact a secret revenge plot.

There's so many little hanging threads on the Taylor side of things regarding Keanu's death and impact.

I would be all for this, but we all know how this'll end--Keanu's dad will become the villain of the moment and then be killed off either Xmas or NYE. He'll spend his whole time stomping around the Square, getting gaslit by everyone, and then being killed.

And I saw the clip of Lauren/Zach--really, EE?!! Are there any female friendships where they aren't trying to bed their friend's man? We already have this story with Stacey/Denise.

I agree with both of you that they could go with the Keanu's dad route. But they should make Keanu's death matter. So I hope his dad is not just a villain of the month.

And I agree about Lauren/Zack.

Bad decision, even if Whit is leaving, this sucks.

It would've been more compelling for Lauren to grow feelings for him over time and then have them kiss. Then have regret. Then have Lauren reach out to Whit (even though she is offscreen) and confess the truth only to lose Whit as a friend. Then some more regret and backlash. Then put them together. It's like a dance. You must hit all the proper beats. But we already know they are just going to slap those two together the second Shona exits.

It would have been better, but I still wouldn't enjoy it. I just have an issue when they put friends dating the same guy, especially in this case. This is not Whitney's hook up. She was with Zack for a while and they are having a child together. So yeah, them building this up would have been better from just a storyteller perspective, but I would still dislike Lauren and Zack for doing this.

I hope this means George’s estranged son is coming tot he Square! Colin Salmon and the Knight's have been a good addition to the show.

To me they've all been pretty dull, aside from George. They also weigh down Cindy. I've seen fan comparisons between Anna and kids show presenters. I have a feeling they won't be there in a year or two (then again none of us may be).

This actor was stuck in a horrible story on Emmerdale. I hope he has a better time at EE.

As well as having two bodies, the threat was that, as women, they wouldn’t be believed because cops don’t believe women when they report rape, so why would they believe them now. We also have a law in the UK called Joint Enterprise, which means a group of people can be charged with murder, which added to the threat that they would all go down.

Probably because she used to act on a kids show for preschoolers.

I’m not that fussed in the introduction of Junior Knight, as I think the show is starting to gain a bloated cast. There’s so many characters that have no purpose and no story that I’d like to see be developed. Even in the Knight family, Gina and Anna do nothing.

Johnny, Felix, Vinny, Callum, Priya, Martin, Ravi, Chelsea, Penny, Peter, Bobby, Cindy, Ian… all need something to do. It looked like they were starting a Ravi/Priya/Martin triangle but that’s suddenly gone quiet.

Why not get Vinny out of this weird mini-Nish phase, give him his life back and pair him with Anna; give him a mate in Callum. Also, just pair Callum and Johnny up already.

That makes sense.

The main problem with EE, beyond how heartless and hollow the show feels, is that it is rigidly plot-driven. Things happen to move story along and for no other reason. And that often means ideas that on paper should be strong just kind of fade out onscreen, like Cindy's return, Alfie's cancer, anything involving Whitney and Zack. The show is so cold to me. And it's one of those shows where people deify the producer and go on about how hot he is and all the rest, which just ends up causing a cult mentality.

I think it’s difficult for EE not to fall into that cult mentality given the previous 6 years were some of the worst the show has produced. Chris Clenshaw is Shakespeare compares to his predecessors. The bar had fallen so low that creating an entertaining show was all it would take for fans to start worshiping him.

There’s been a lot of positives over the past year, which I think overshadows a lot of the plotty-ness of stories. But I don’t think that will last forever.

    • Finland seemed such an odd choice for a location shoot. ATWT went to Greece and later Spain while GL had Tenerife and there were others in that timeframe. But Finland not being a known tourist destination or offering the tropical/sunny atmosphere usually associated with location shoots seems off brand. Maybe they were negotiating a deal with a tourist association and it fell through.
    • I was talking about 1986, but the glimpses of 1982 are about the same.
    • I skimmed some of the 1982 synopses; Steve was planning on an opening an office in Finland, and I think Jim went there as part of the preparation. That probably was a big issue; AW had already gone to San Diego that year, with Rachel/Steve/Mitch. And to upstate NY with Pete and Diana. I wonder if upstate was as expensive lol  AW in 1982 has always fascinated me, because of how messy it was
    • That makes sense. What a messy time for the show. And any changes they made were mostly for the worse.
    • The transition from Neal to Adam was very abrupt, and to be honest my theory is that the character of Neal was designed so that we think he is super shady but then it turns out that he was on the side of good all along so Neal could have seamlessly become a hero of the BCPD with no need for Adam. I don't know whether Robert Lupone was hired on a short contract or if he was fired from a longer-term contract because they decided they wanted someone who was more of a leading man type, but I can imagine a scenario where Charles Grant did both the undercover Egyptian treasure/flirt with Victoria and the straighter-arrow day to day police investigation. But in my imagined scenario the MJ prostitution plotline probably doesn't exist and instead he probably continues a relationship with Victoria. The story seems very odd to me. I assume that David Canary would have been included only because a plotline where Steve is going to Finland in which only Rachel is seen in actual Finland seems unlikely. The synopses explicitly mention that Alice can't go with Steve but would whoever was playing Alice at that time have had the kind of clout to get the remote cancelled? It also strikes me as unlikely that production would have approved the expensive location shoot and *then* cancelled it only because of jealousy. It seems more likely that they rejected it because of the expense but then the jealousy part got added to the gossip speculatively, possibly because while it was being worked out they justified not including more castmembers because of the expense.
    • My comment has nothing to do with cast resentment, but does relate to the Finland location shoot: It may be a coincidence, but Jim Matthews died in Finland in 1982.  Hugh Marlowe's final episode was in April 1982, but the character probably didn't die untll May or June. (I'm unable to find the character's date of death, only the date of Marlowe's final episode). SInce Jim and Rachel had very little interaction after around 1975, it is unlikely Jim's death in Finland had any connection to Rachel's potential visit, but the choice to have Jim die in that location at that time is a head-scratcher.  I'm sure the writers sent Jim on an extended trip (and off-screen) because of Marlowe's illness.  But Finland seems like a strange choice considering the (then) recently cancelled location shoot.
    • I totally understand your sloths concern about it and I agree with you. Let’s hope the show plays it’s cards right.    Further comments about the last few episodes: - I liked that one of the attendees was filming the scene. That’s realistic. I wonder if the writers will follow up with that.  - Martin and Smitty trying to drag Leslie out was very heteronormative, so perfectly in line with them two as characters lol.    As for the future: it’s obvious the Duprees will come to accept Eva one way or another, but the rivalry with Kay should be here for the long term   On the topic of acting: the only bad actors I’m seeing are Ted and Derek. Tomas hasn’t proven to be either good or bad, so far, but he’s certainly mediocre and uncharismatic. He sucks the energy out of the scenes and I don’t see any couple of women ever vying for him.
    • I’m trying to think which actors VW were working with at the time, and none of them had been there for a while. Even like Mac and Ada didn’t have that big of a part in Rachel’s storyline.  And Jamie was involved with all that movie stuff.
    • Brooke did ads before ATWT too. That probably helped get her the job. After ATWT she seemed to branch more into hosting, along with ads.  I think I saw Kelley in an ad or two, but you're right she wasn't on as much.
    •   Thanks for sharing these. I wonder if Charles might have been in the running for Adam. I know Preacher was a bit of a bad boy at times on EON, but Neal seemed to be a step down, and Robert Lupone had played a similar part on AMC. Given the huge cast turnover at this point I wonder who thought they had been there long enough to go.  Laura Malone/Chris Rich would get a remote within the next year.
