Interview with Sophie and Sian (the actresses playing them) on their upcoming relationship.

I am really enjoying the story with Rita and Audrey falling out over an escort. Some always sneer at any stories for "old" characters but they are playing out emotions and pain and history that few younger actresses could understand, and the fight between them in yesterday's show was far more interesting than any chavette hair-pulling.

It's pretty funny that Corrie talent is being spread elsewhere at the moment, just not at Corrie.

Bryan Kirkwood, who spent a decade in various positions at Corrie, namely as a storyliner, is at EastEnders presently. His appointment at EastEnders was shocking, because as UK LAW once said, if there was any show he was destined to run, it was Corrie.

Gavin Blyth, who also developed his skills at Corrie and spent a good number of years there, is now running things at Emmerdale.

Paul Marquesses's first big job was as a story editor at Corrie, and he's now at Hollyoaks.

I'm hoping when Phil Collinson arrives as Series Producer, he'll be able to whip Corrie back into shape.

He's been phased out over the past few years anyway, by his choice. I hope they won't kill him off. Let him leave happily. I have a soft spot for Jack. I also think people don't realize just what a wonderful comedian Bill Tarmey was. One of the most hilarious stories I've ever seen on any soap was when Jack went under video dating (I think he went by the name "Tony Vegas") and a horrified Bet saw his tape. She told Vera, and Vera put on a red wig and pretended to be a sultry beauty. Then when he went to the Rovers to meet his hot date, it was a furious Vera, and she beat him over the head with the box of candy as he ran out of the pub.

Finally found a way to watch the show. Some notes from this week's episodes (so far...half way through Thursday):

So Molly's pregnant, eh? And apparently it's for Kevin or she doesn't know who it's for. Tsk tsk tsk. Tyrone's so jolly and happy about being a dad, he'll probably beat the snot out of Kevin when the truth comes out. How long as Bill known about Kevin and Molly?

Fiz is too stupid to live sometimes. How in the FRACK was it so easy for John to change her mind about him running that fraud to get a job? They deserve to get caught.

Becky/Steve and Eddie/Anna at the adoption class was funny, especially Becky's comments about the Windasses' track record raising kids (where is Gary, anyway?) and Anna grabbing Eddie's hand every time he went to ask a question. I like the Windasses more than I did last year, so it's good to see them involved with other characters.

What's the deal with Audrey and Rita? I read about some kind of row between the two of them recently, but other than that, I'm clueless. And is Gail in the hospital?

Oh, and so they're finally getting the ball rolling with this "Sawfeh's a lesbian!" storyline. Does Rosie have a clue? Because it sounded like she did at first, but then it sounded like she just saw Soph and Sian as good friends. And where's Sally?

Gail is in prison, as the police and Joe's daughter Tina believe that Gail worked with Joe to fake his death for insurance fraud (only Joe actually died). She's waiting for trial. Audrey and Rita are fighting because Audrey began seeing a male escort (for company only, nothing sexual) and confided in Rita. Rita has also felt lonely for a long time and she began seeing the same escort. Rita quickly stopped seeing him after Audrey found out but they are still feuding, because their hostility towards each other goes back to when Audrey's late husband, Alf Roberts, proposed to Rita, who turned him down. Alf was a very, very kind man, a fixture in Weatherfield for decades (he ran the corner shop that Dev now owns) and Audrey did grow to love him, but the main reason Audrey married Alf was his money (of course, ironically enough, when Alf died he only left Audrey enough to get by on). Audrey DOES NOT LIKE when people bring this up to her.

Rosie doesn't know Sophie is a lesbian. No one does, except Sophie and Sian. To her credit, Rosie is trying to be nice to Sophie, for once. I like this Rosie better. Sally is at "Auntie Phyllis's". She has not been seen since the end of January. A lot of fans are annoyed over this.

Kevin told Bill about the affair at the end of December, when Kevin found out Sally had cancer.

The John/Fiz stuff makes my head ache. I think the only reason they had Fiz go along is because they knew it would be way too much if John lied to her again, which the show would only do if they were writing John out, and for whatever reason, the current/outgoing producer, Kim Crowther, is fond of the character. I actually like John too but I loathe this storyline and I loathe the passive-aggressive way John has been to get Fiz to go along with his plan. I want her to punch him out.

John is not a bad character, except that he has to keep commiting bad acts as though he is a bad boy. Fiz is quite annoying but i don`t mind her.

A lot of Corrie bores me right now. Brooke Vincent can ACT.A lot of teens are cast because they look good but Brooke Vincent who plays Sophie can bloody act mate. Her acting may keep this story from sinking.I dont think it will, but it could.

    • I do agree that I wish there was more gay representation in terms of singles. I also had hoped we'd get a Black couple since it was a Black soap and I don't know that we've ever seen that on a US soap.  With that said, it's still early days so I can imagine we'll get that at some point. I am impressed they launched with as much LGBT representation considering how US soaps can be.
    • Thank you. I know we're all supposed to see that BTG is progressive when it comes to queer characters, but it's telling that they won't commit to showcasing gay or bi males who are single and looking. That relationship couldn't be any more traditional. Will we ever get a bedroom scene with Smitty and Martin? I have my doubts.
    • This is a pretty huge thing IMO, but I guess we will see what happens? Can't get any worse then already.
    • This can be difficult for a soap to depict. So far she's only shown an interest in women. Will a man come into her life? If she commits to a male, there will be  backlash, but if it's women only, them where is the bi/queer aspect? Personally, I would have liked a single gay male on the show dealing with hook ups/relationships etc. Smitty/Martin married with kids is limiting in those terms.
    • Of course, how could I have forgotten those thrilling episodes depicting the fire? Also we had the GCAC rooftop set that came out every Summer. Moving on to Friday's episode. Victor is propped in his chair, answers his cell and tells the caller 'Let him in'. Seconds later Kyle enters. So does Victor have security on the front porch? It would have been better had Victor taken the call, and then said to himself 'Well Kyle, let's see what you have to say'and fade out. Next scene Kyle enters, indicating that the first call was from the Ranch entrance and time had passed . Nit picky but I get frustrated when they do stuff like that.
    • Jordan was gone from '87 to mid-'89. He left just weeks after Robert's late '86 return.

    • I don't think Chelsea has a true label just yet. She's just finding out she has an interest in women. I think the awkwardness is aligned with the character as we've seen. This is the fool who keeps filming her family when embarrassing things happen and live streaming it. I actually think it's refreshing she isn't just jumping into a relationship  and that they're playing the beats of her trying to figure out who she is.
