B&B: Don't hate me for this BUT....

Well, last year, LaFlannery did submit those downright laughable Russian Roulette scenes where she asks Brooke to kill herself. That was a stupid move that gave the bag lady(LaZimmer, referring to the way she was dressed Emmy '06) the edge to win. Where was the faked heart-attack on that reel, honey?!

I thought the Betty White scenes were a step above those.(ETA: Referring to Russian Roulette, NOT Faked Heart-Attack)

I'm not getting what you're saying here. I just thought that SF submitted the heart attack stuff.

See there is the obsession that Susan Flannery can do no wrong and IMO that takes away from having objective opinions with her. I don't think B&B should consider this for best drama if they want to compete with some of the heavy hitter episodes that Y&R, GH, OLTL, and ATWT are going to submit.

Part of this I can agree with and part of this I can disagree with. But all of this is a matter of opinion and objectivity. I thought she did well in her scenes.

I'm not getting what you're saying here. I just thought that SF submitted the heart attack stuff.

And regarding last year's nomination, she submitted the episode where she tells Brooke to kill herself AND the episode where she kicks Eric out of the Forrester Creations office.

She DID NOT, however, submit anything from the week of the faked heart attack reveal, which stunned and disappointed a few on this MB. I can't speak for everyone else, but that was simply B&B's Best Week of 2005.

If the producers picked her reel, then that was a major boo-boo on their part. I think she could have had a better chance of winning had those scenes ended up on the reel.

Same for Best Show. Sometimes fake, flashy beachfront abortion confessions and adults behaving like kids playing with guns doesn't always score nominations. Sometimes, highly dramatic situations and confrontations without theatrics usually does the trick(just ask the GUIDING LIGHT people).

I digress. Anyway, I was saying here that the Betty White scenes were above Russian Roulette in terms of acting, writing, and execution. But not better than the Faked Heart-Attack Stuff.

i feel the same way. I dont watch B&B and am only wacthing there scnes and i thought to myself they were way off. Now the sister is soory all of a sudden because SStph shows up. All of a sudden her sister gets a back bone b kuz her sister is there. Give me a break. And the way Eric disrespected her YEA right give me a break.

I am SO disappointed with the confrotational scenes between Susan Flannery and Betty White. Lord almighty that felt very off. I am a fan of La Flannery, but I really don't think she was as brilliant as she usually is. Betty White and Alley Mills were exceptional, but Flannery couldn't match them. If Susan Flannery submits this for the emmy, she may be nominated but I doubt a win. Also, SF was good but I do think the writing was limited. Where was that Patrick M guy? He would have brought justice to these scenes. And the music was also wrongly selected. Now say if I compared this to Erika Slezak's abuse storyline, then Slezak had Flannery blown out of the water. I think SF has a difficult time showing vulnerability, whether the writing was to blame or not, but that was not her best yet. I hate to be a downer, but I expected more. :(:( Though Betty still has a couple of episodes left so you never know.... ;)

I'm thrilled that Joe M is no longer on the show. He was ridiculously expensive, and just not worth it IMO.

I am surprised he lasted as long as he did.

^^

I'm surprised that Massimo was on for that long too. Usually, these new characters that Bradley creates bite the dust after a few months.

The character was absolutely useless. Making him Ridge's biological father? Just stupid!! And of course, it also resulted in the show bringing on Nick.

Nick has been rooted ever since he entered Brooke's opening lips. He got sucked in and has been lost in her fallopian tubes ever since.

He and Ridge are exactly the same. Ridge sleeps arond and he keeps it in the family. So does Brooke. So, I guess they were perfect for a while. Although, I never understood how British Jackie and Italian Massimo produced sufer boy Nick.

Maybe it's me, but I just keep seeing Rose from the Golden Girls. She's being Sophia!

She's still at boarding school in Europe.

She's still at boarding in Europe.

How in the hell do they explain that one?

I stopped watching when Sheila shot Taylor and she died. When she came back from the dead, I started watching again, but not faithfully. It is hard to follow because I thought Pheobe was playing a dual role but then I realized she wasn't. No one ever makes referenced to Stephanie or the fact that she even exists. Her aunt is killed, her mother is on trial for murder, and both her parents are getting married and they act as though Thomas and Stephanie don't exist, especially with Pheobe being in the middle of a love triangle hell she has a twin sister why can't one go with Harry and the other shane?

I've read that Taylor only has a picture of Phoebe in her office in one of the soap mags. I haven't noticed that, but it goes along with your post Pinevalleylan. LOL!

I've read that Taylor only has a picture of Phoebe in her office in one of the soap mags.

I noticed that, too. The only pic of Thomas however is at Chez Ridge. Didn't see one in the office...

I ADORE B&B for their beyond cheesy use of photographs. There are ALWAYS the right pictures in place as the storyline fits. When Brooke was doing the nasty with Deacon she suddenly had a dozen pics of Bridget - and her in joyful harmony - but one single picture of Rick at max. LOL!

The props stuff must be extremely busy because the set decoration of photographs changes very often. You have to look careful and can be delighted by the latest publicity shots now used as family photos in the Forrester Mansions...

EDITED to add: Steffy was mentioned several times while Taylor was on trial. On one occsion Ridge phoned her in London to give her a heads-up and when Taylor was freed the first thing being back home home she did was calling Steffy. It is still odd overall but for B&B/soap standards of forgotten relatives very good.

It's like when they talk about Kristen. I don't think they've mentioned her since Stephanie's abuse even though Stephanie is her mother.

Master class: the best of the best

Betty White, Susan Flannery and Bradley Bell, B&B

Best. Casting. Ever! While no one would disagree that Susan Flannery (Stephanie) is the best actor, male or female on daytime television, the four-time Emmy winner has finally met her match thanks to the arrival of the sin-sational Betty White (Ann), Stephanie’s in denial and a loopy mother! Their stare-downs, passive-aggressive behaviour, verbal abuse and sheer talent is making B&B better than it ever has been, and we thought that was impossible.

Watching White and Flannery go head-to-head is akin to having Bette Davis and Joan Crawford back from the dead. Executive producer and head writer Bradley Bell is simply one of the top scribes on daytime and primetime TV for that matter, and if he doesn’t win an Emmy this year we’re going to officially boycott the award show (do threats still work in this day and age? Hey, it’s worth a try!).

It’s very brave for Bell to delve into why Stephanie is as damaged, angry and self-destructive as she’s been for the past 20 years, and we can’t wait to find out all the ugly details. Bell cares so much about his characters that he actually gives each of them a psychology that not only makes sense, but also is riveting — very much on par with Grey’s Anatomy’s Shonda Rhimes.

Welcome to daytime Betty — let’s hope you’re here to stay because we’ve never seen anyone scare the crapola out of Flannery, and it’s delicious to watch. What can we say, we’re greedy!

Are you frickin' kidding me? Genie Francis limited run on GH was much better than what I've seen in this story so far. Too much BULL in this article, and because it needs repeating....there is the obsession that Susan Flannery can do no wrong and IMO that takes away from having objective opinions with her.
