ALL: Best/Worst 2006 (You Be The Critic)

A few weeks ago we had a discussion about SOD's year end choices for Best & Worst. I thought it would be fun as we approach the end of the year for all of us to pick who we think should win in certain categories. You can do all the ones I did or even add your own. Would love to hear your comments on my picks too.

Best Ensemble Cast: - The Guiding Light

There are several shows that have superb overall casts but GL just comes out on top. They have a few bad apples but even they surprise you at times and have their moments.

Best Breakup Scene: - Michael Park & Maura West, As The World Turns

This was a tough choice, probably the toughest category. Days had the scene where Sami finally ends it for good with Austin. In that scene Allison Sweeney gave one of her best performances ever. And GL had the scene between Jonathan & Tammy where Tom Pelphrey & Stephanie Gatschet were spectacular. Overall I just felt that Jack & Carly's breakup was just the best, but they had tough competition.

Best Wedding - Dusty & Jennifer, As The World Turns

I just felt it was beautifully done. As I got to thinking back on weddings it didn't seem there were that many to choose from this year, and the majority of them were way too rushed. I loved the look of Jennifer and Frankie's wedding on Days but the wedding was not about them so that pulled it down. It and Dusty & Jennifer's were my top 2, but because Dusty & Jennifer were about the couple I chose it.

Worst Wedding - John & Marlena, Days of Our Lives

It has nothing to do with one of my favorite couples either. I loved them in the wedding except for Marlena's oooohhh John's that she needs to really tone down. The worst part of it was the fountain in the background though that to a person that is hearing-impaired like me caused a great diversion from the vows. The fountain should have really been turned down.

Best Storyline - John's Death, Young & the Restless

I sure hated to lose John Abbott, but his death brought about some of the best acting on Y&R in years. Jeanne Cooper, Peter Bergman, Eileen Davidson, and even Judith Chapman were so superb during the death, and in the weeks after. The story was just so emotionally charged, and let to many great moments on the show for quite awhile.

I give kudos too to Zach's Death on Days which was good until it turned into another quad. The Virus storyline on GH was a strong contender for me, because it was so emotionally charged all month long and highlighted with great acting. Another strong contender has been the Carmen Murder Case, not so much because it is a great story, but because in this current state of daytime it has given the center to an African-American family and I love that. Also HM to Stephanie's abuse story on B&B and Alexis' cancer story on GH - both have been superb.

Worst Storyline - Jonathan is Erica's son, All My Children

Wow so many contenders this year - Greg in the Coffin, AMC; Austin/Carrie/Lucas/Sami The Redux, Days; Brad's Past, Y&R; Vendetta, Passions; Reva's Cancer, GL; the Tom McBain Murder Mystery, OLTL, but I had to go with the undoing of Erica's abortion on AMC. It was the worst recieved storyline by fans in many years of soaps. Not only was it bad, but it changed so much of the history of the show. It is the #1 reason that Megan McTavish needs to leave AMC like yesterday.

Best Couple - Lucas & Sami, Days of Our Lives

I know it was not a popular choice, but I am sticking with SOD's pick. They were split up, and stuck in a story that was bad. They were both put with partners that were their dream mates for years, but the Lucas & Sami love was the center at all times. You never once believed that Lucas loved Carrie or Sami loved Austin. You always knew that even if Carrie & Austin didn't get back together, Lucas & Sami would. That is true chemistry when a couple can overcome a story like that and make you believe they belong together. The only other couple to do that for me this year has been Jonathan & Tammy on GL who have such strong chemistry that even though you know they shouldn't even be together, the chemistry is just there and is like they don't belong with anyone else.

Worst Couple - Jonathan & Lily, All My Children

Several to choose from here: Carly & Simon, ATWT; Shawn & Willow, Days; Sonny & Emily, GH; Christian & Evangeline, OLTL, but I went with a couple that was pimped for so long by AMC and used to "redeem" Jonathan. The pairing was even worse than any of the other bad pairings because Jonathan had tried to kill Lily. The best thing AMC has done all year was to split them up.

Best Triangle - Phyllis/Nick/Sharon, Young & the Restless

They were the best thing about Y&R all year long, and very much deserve this honor.

Worst Triangle - Bo/Hope/Patrick/Billee, Days of Our Lives

Okay so it is a quad instead of a triangle. Once again there was a lot to choose from, but Days started out with a wonderful story, and segueed into this terrible mess. It was sickening and not accpeted by fans at all. And Hope's whole nature changed throughout the story.

Best Recast - Laura Wright, General Hospital

Several great ones to choose from: Jeffrey Meek, ATWT & Brandon Beemer, Days were strongly considered but with Laura Wright as Carly, GH was able to revive the character again for me. She again has become the character I love at times, and then turn around and love to hate.

Worst Recast - Spencer Grammer, As The World Turns

Again Soap Opera Digest got it right. She is not right for Lily at all.

Best Limited Run - Genie Francis, General Hospital

Tough choice between her and Betty White on B&B, but I had to go with Genie. She was absolutely superb during her short return to GH. Her goodbye scenes were so very well done, and were one of only 2 times this year I was moved to tears by a soap - the other being Hal's memorial on ATWT.

Best New Character - Patrick, General Hospital

Although there was another good choice in EJ on Days, I felt that Patrick was just better written all year and got the nod. I have loved both incarnations of EJ on Days - fun loving charming EJ that I fell in love with and now evil EJ but I wish that the writers would have been smart enough to keep some of the charm EJ had in the beginning with his evil side.

I just absolutely love Patrick on GH. I especially love him with Robin.

Worst New Character - Willow, Days of Our Lives

Many to choose from: Nick Kasnoff, ATWT; Nick Fallon, Days; Zarf, AMC were all considered, but I think that SOD got this one right too. She to me is the worst thing to hit Days in years. Sorry to the ones that like her, and I hope that if she stays around they do more with the character and get the actress some acting lessons. I do see some redeeming qualities in her, and a bit of future, but the way she is written and acted at this time just do nothing for me.

Best Returns - General Hospital

Even though GH messed up some of their returns, they just edged out the award in this one. I hated how they erased the history of Holly's redemption all those years ago, and hated how they turned the Luke & Laura story more into a mob & Tracy/Luke story, but they were able to edge out with the sheer drama and enjoyment of the stories around the returns. So even though I hated parts of it, GH was able to capture the great performances and keep the interest up during the returns.

Worst Returns - Days of Our Lives

It has more to do with writing here than anything else. I loved the returns to Days this year - some of their best returned to the show. Carrie & Austin both returned toward the end of 2005 but their big story was in 2006, and was so poorly done by JER. There were moments of great acting esp. by Clark as Carrie, but the story just feel flat with fans. When they brought back Arlene Sorkin as Calliope, they did an okay job, but JER and his staff just never made me love Calliope like I did before. She was more of an annoyance this time, than a comedy gem. And then for me they really flubbed the initial returns of Nichols & Evans as Patch & Kayla. They gained so much momentum, but made it go stale by putting them into limbo land all summer. They didn't keep any tension going for them, and even though the acting by Nichols was superb all throughout it, the story was just flat.

Best Family Oriented Story - Luke Coming Out, As The World Turns

I loved the start of this story, and the acting around but I almost didn't give them the nod here, because of the way the story has fizzled and been ignored. It almost went to the Winters family with Devon's hearing and the Carmen story. I think both were great but I went ahead with Luke's story just for the initial stuff in it, but ATWT had better get back on the ball with the story.

Most Entertaining Character - EJ, Days of Our Lives

There were several that I put in this category this year: Henry, ATWT except for his scenes were too few; Janet, AMC; Julian, Passions except for he kind of fizzled too, but I just felt the summer of EJ was the best thing about Days all year long. I did not like James Scott on AMC at all. His character was so bland. I just never knew that he could play someone so fun-loving as EJ was. I like evil EJ too, but the fun loving charming EJ of the summer is definitely missed.

Best Villian/Villianess - David, All My Children

I know that will not be a popular choice, but I just felt overall he was the most entertaining all year long for me. I especially loved how he tried to stir the pot as he was leaving town. Vincent Irizarry was just great in his performances, and just edged out others in this award for me including EJ, Days; Gloria, Y&R; Chelsea, Days; Ric, GH; Craig, ATWT; and Alan, GL who were all strong contenders for me.

Most Entertaining Storyline - The Oakdale Slasher, As The World Turns

It was cheesy and all but I absolutely loved it from beginning to end. My 2nd choice was The Virus on GH, but the Oakdale Slasher lasted a little longer, and provided longer enjoyment.

Best Stand-Alone Episode - 2nd part of Oakdale's 50th, As The World Turns

There were only 3 stand-alone episodes that really stood out in my memory this year: both days of Oakdale's 50th and GL's Marvel comics day. I did love the sitcom tribute on ATWT, and actually even enjoyed the Marvel comics show on GL. Both were cheesy but were nice diversions for one day. For me though the 2nd day of Oakdale's 50th centering about the veteran ladies was just so wonderful. It had it's flaws, but overall it was very good and very enjoyable.

Most Rejuvenated Family/Character - The Winters Family, Young & the Restless

I just love that Latham has put them front & center on Y&R. It is so refreshing, and they are just such a loving family too, and provide great family drama and entertainment.

Most Improved Show - Young and the Restless

It was close between it and Days but I had to give the nudge to Y&R. Last year I could not even watch the show at all. After Cassie's death, the show just fell apart for me. I just really think that even though Latham has made some mistakes that overall she has just given us a great year on Y&R.

Days is on the way and will win this award next year hands down. I loved the first few months of the year under JER, and then he fell apart. I hated the months of the ghost-writer. The only bright point for me was EJ. I just barely even watched under the Ghost Writer. Then Beth came and the show got better. She really improved on things in many ways. But then Hogan came and even though there were things that were good, things lost momentum that Beth had given the show. He began to build his stories I know, but the new faces and the new characters he introduced really hurt the show for me. The show is really getting better now, and I am enjoying the last 2 weeks alot more, but I still felt that overall Y&R just edged them out a bit.

Note: These last ones for now I am just going to name. I will come back and add commentary later.

Best Overall Young Cast - As The World Turns

Best Young Actors - Tom Pelphrey, Guiding Light; Van Hansis, As The World Turns; & Bryton, Young & the Restless

Best Young Actresses - Stephanie Gatschet, Guiding Light; Jennifer Landon, As The World Turns; Julie Berman, General Hospital; & Rachel Melvin, Days of Our Lives

Best Supporting Actresses - Kelley Menighan Hensley, As The World Turns; Victoria Rowell, Young & the Restless; Kate Collins, All My Children; Renee Jones, Days of Our Lives & Heather Tom, One Life To Live

Best Supporting Actors - Dan Gauthier, One Life To Live; Ric Hearst, General Hospital; Greg Vaughan, General Hospital; Jordan Clarke, Guiding Light & James Reynolds, Days of Our Lives

Best Lead Actresses - Nancy Lee Grahn, General Hospital; Susan Flannery, Bold & the Beautiful; Kristian Alfonso, Days of Our Lives; Kim Zimmer, Guiding Light; & Lindsay Hartley, Passions

Best Lead Actors - Peter Bergman, Young and the Restless; Anthony Geary, General Hospital; Peter Reckell, Days of Our Lives; Trevor St. John, One Life To Live; & Michael E. Knight, All My Children

Best Show (ranked in order for the year):

1) General Hospital (highlights were The Virus, Lulu's abortion, Alexis' cancer, Lucky's addiction & Laura's return)

2) Young & the Restless (highlights were John Abbott's death, the rejuvenation of the Winters family, and the returns of old Victor & Jack)

3) As The World Turns (highlights for me were Luke's coming out, Jack & Carly's breakup, & Emily's decent into madness)

4) Guiding Light (always delivers great drama from a great cast, loved the ending of Reva's cancer story, the Jonathan/Lily/Tammy triangle, and Olivia's rape storyline)

5) Bold & the Beautiful (highlights were the cancer storyline, Darla's hit and run & Stephanie's abuse)

6) Days of Our Lives (highlights were Zach's death, Jack & Patch's return at Frankie & Jennifer's wedding, Sami's breakup with Austin, & Steve's sudden rush of memories episode)

7) One Life To Live (the highlights of the year was great acting for the most part by a talented set of actors who were given crap to work with, but the month of May with the tornado, Duke's death, & Todd's execution was spectacular)

8) All My Children (highlights were Janet's decent into madness again even though it ignored history again, Tad/Dixie/JR reunion scenes, & David's farewell revenge in November)

9) Passions (no exact highlights for me standout, but Passions is a show I watch because it is pure entertainment. I don't expect much out of it, and everytime I watch I just sit back, enjoy, and love what I see)

All the shows were hampered by periods of bad writing for part of the year. Both the top 2 shows have had periods where the headwriter just missed. ATWT would have been higher but the last half of the year Passanante and staff have been way off. GL would have been higher, but they are in serious need of a new writer. Same can be said for Brad Bell at B&B. Days suffered so much during the year not because of the people at the head but from poor day to day writing. Even under JER the show would have been much better if the diologue and story movement was better. Both OLTL and AMC have had great moments when they feature the vets or older characters but they have turned their shows over to so many newbies that it hurt them so much.

Now would love to hear your choices and commentary. And please try to remember everyone to be nice. We all have our opinions and that is what these are - opinions. What one of us thinks is great may not be someone else's cup of tea.

Best Ensemble Cast: The Young & The Restless: I really like every actor on the show. Every other show has at least one bad actor.

Best Breakup Scene Jack & Carly (ATWT). Steve, I agree that Sami & Austin was just as good. Had Austin been played by anyone but Austin Peck I think it would of been better.

Best Wedding: Frankie & Jennifer's (DAYS). Manly because of Jack & Steve coming back.

Worst Wedding: Carrie & Austin's (DAYS). I was expecting more of a wedding. It was rushed.

Best Storyline: Luke is gay (ATWT). I really enjoyed this storyline. Great acting from everyone involved.

Worst Storyline: Sami schemes to keep Austin & Carrie apart (DAYS)

Best Couple: Nick & Phyllis (Y&R). I've really grown on them this year.

Worst Couple: John & Natalie (OLTL)

Best Triangle EJ/Sami/Lucas. I'm really torn on who I want Sami with. Ali has awesome chemistry with both James & Bryan.

Worst Triangle: Gwen/Will/Jade. (ATWT) I like Jade but hate Gwen. Will is meh.

Best Recast: Laura Wright (Carly- GH) Totally agree. She is one of the only reasons I ever watch GH. Brandon Beemer (Shawn-DAYS) is a close 2nd.

Worst Recast Spencer Grammer (Lucy-ATWT) I never watched Peyton as Lucy but Spencer was just awful.

Best Limited Run Laura (GH)

Best New Character EJ Wells (DAYS)

Worst New Character: Willow (DAYS) She's awful.

Best Returns: Days of our Lives (Steve, Kayla & Calliope <3 )

Worst Returns: Have no clue on this one.

Best Family Oriented Story: The begining of Zach's death (DAYS).

Best Villian/Villianess : Chelsea Benson (DAYS). Sami Jr :)

Most Entertaining Storyline: Emily goes Pyscho (ATWT)

Best Stand-Alone Episode: The episode where Hope says her final goodbye to Zach in the hospital (DAYS) The scenes were just heartbreaking. Hope telling Bo she didn't know how to say goodbye to him. Then having her run to the lobby screaming "WHO THE HELL DID THIS".

Most Rejuvenated Family/Character Winters (Y&R)

Most Improved Show: Days of our Lives. It's a bit boring but much better where it was last year.

Best Overall Young Cast - The Young & The Restless. (It would of been ATWT but I'm so sick of Gwen/Will/Casey)

Best Young Actors - Tom Pelphrey, Guiding Light; Van Hansis, As The World Turns

Best Ensemble Cast: - As the World Turns

Although this year has been hit and miss writing wise, there's no disputing that ATWT has THE most talented cast in daytime. Maura, Michael, Elizabeth, Jennifer (Landon and Ferrin), etc. They make the most out of even the mediocre storylines.

Best Breakup Scene: - Michael Park & Maura West, As The World Turns

I'm with Steve here. I have never seen a more moving break up scene. Both players knocked it out of the park.

Best Wedding - Dusty & Jennifer, As The World Turns

Again, with Steve on this one. Cried through the whole thing.

Worst Wedding - John & Marlena, Days of Our Lives

Not just because I can't stand the couple, but it was just an insult to their actual fans. And that damn fountain made me want to go to the bathroom.

Best Storyline - Jennifer's Death, As The World Turns

I can't remember when a storyline drained me this much emotionally. I cried for a week straight as Jennifer said her goodbyes to her family and finally married the man she loves. Every player delivered top notch performances, especially Jennifer Ferrin (who deserves an Emmy next year). Equally devastating was seeing Ben Hendrickson in one of his last performances as a grieving father.

Worst Storyline - Carrie/Austin/Lucas/Sami, Days of our Lives

I adore Christie, but this storyline was a slap in the face to her fans and her talent. I hated JERk even more after watching this travesty.

Best Couple - Will and Gwen, As The World Turns

Easily the most realistic teen relationship on daytime, the chemistry between Jesse and Jennifer is truly electric.

Worst Couple - Bo and Billie, Days of Our Lives

Luckily, they made Billie and Bo smart in deciding that good friends is the farthest they would go, but initially this redux made me sick to my stomach.

Best Triangle - Phyllis/Nick/Sharon, Young & the Restless

They were the best thing about Y&R all year long, and very much deserve this honor.

Worst Triangle - Bo/Hope/Billie, Days of Our Lives

See above.

Right on, Steve

Worst Recast - Spencer Grammer, As The World Turns

Best Limited Run - Betty White, Bold and the Beautiful

Best New Character - EJ, Days of Our Lives

Worst New Character - Willow, Days of Our Lives

Worst Returns - Days of Our Lives

Not even the magnificent Christie Clark could salvage the returns.

Best Family Oriented Story - Luke Coming Out, As The World Turns

Most Entertaining Character - EJ, Days of Our Lives

Best Villian/Villianess - EJ, Days of Our Lives

Most Entertaining Storyline - The Oakdale Slasher, As The World Turns

Best Stand-Alone Episode - 2nd part of Oakdale's 50th, As The World Turns

Most Improved Show - Days of Our Lives

Best Overall Young Cast - As The World Turns

Best Young Actors - Jesse Soffer, ATWT; Brandon Beemer, Days

Best Young Actresses - Jennifer Landon, ATWT; Martha Madison, Days

Best Supporting Actresses - Jennifer Ferrin, ATWT; Ali Sweeney, Days

Best Supporting Actors - James Reynolds, Days

Best Lead Actresses - Maura West, ATWT; Kristian Alfonso, Days

Best Lead Actors - Michael Park, ATWT; Stephen Nichols, Days

Best Show (ranked in order for the year):

1) As The World Turns

2) Days of Our Lives

Don't watch any other shows

Best Ensemble Cast: - General Hospital & The Young and the Restless

Best Breakup Scene: - Michael Park & Maura West, As The World Turns

Nobody else comes remotely close. These two were superb. Just pure, raw, human emotion right there. That's how it's done.

Best Wedding - Luke and Laura, General Hospital

I loved the wedding. The scenery was beautiful, and everybody looked exceptional.

Worst Wedding -Phyllis and Nick, The Young and the Restless

BORING.

Best Storyline - John's Death, Young & the Restless/Laura's Return, General Hospital

I HATED, and still HATE losing John, but that was wonderfully written. Jeanne's cooper monologue to her dying friend was outstanding. Like Chancellor Industries, Peter Bergman was the sleeping giant who awoke and gave us some of the most compelling performances in daytime this year. Pair Peter with Judith and you got one of the best combinations of acting this year. Eileen Davidson, although neglected during this story, was splendid. And Beth Maitland was a true pro. The best scenes was at John's funeral, which lead to the gripping showdown between Jack and Gloria, while a sobbing Traci watches on. Kudos to Jack Smith for writing most of the death stuff.

Laura's return was also done tastefully. I know that Anthony Geary somehow gets a lot of the praise for this, but it was Genie Francis and Julie Berman who were the true shining stars. Genie Francis brought warmth and joy back to the show. And that ending was beautiful.

Worst Storyline - Brad's Past, The Young and the Restless

One word. Reliquary.

Best Couple -Ric and Alexis

I liked Rexis, and NLG and RH are great together.

Worst Couple - Brad and Victoria, The Young and the Restless

Bad choice to pair two mediocre actors, without any chemistry or appeal.

Best Triangle - Phyllis/Nick/Sharon, Young & the Restless

I loved it more during the earlier part of the year. It was daring, sexy, and fun.

Worst Triangle -Ethan/Gwen/Theresa, Passions

Move the hell on.

Best Recast - Devetta Sherwood, The Young and the Restless

She wasn't so hot at first but she really made the role her own.

Worst Recast -Kristina Sisco, Passions

I'm sorry but she's worst than the original in the role.

Best Limited Run - Genie Francis, General Hospital

Of course.

Best New Character - Ji Min Kim, The Young and the Restless

He just ooozes with sexiness. Plus he has great chemistry with the cast. Let's hope he is long for Y&R. Y&R is about to screw up again by letting ED go, instead of pairing Ash with him. Just like they did with Heather/Christian.

Worst New Character -Professor Korbel, The Young and the Restless

What is the point of you?

Best Returns - General Hospital

Echo what Steve said.

Worst Returns -Passions

Awful casting decisions from every angle.

Best Family Oriented Story - Luke Coming Out, As The World Turns

This was one of the few things ATWT did right this year. Van Hansis was a better find than the other boy.

Most Entertaining Character -Jack Abbott and Drucilla Winters, The Young and the Restless

Funny, because usually for Y&R it would be Phyllis/Michael/Victor. I would say Gloria was entertaining too, but TPTB propped her too much. Jack was amazing this year. As for Dru she is always amazing.

Best Villian/Villianess -Manny, General Hospital

Give 'em hell boy. B)

Most Entertaining Storyline -Jack and Victor BFF, The Young and the Restless

Just for entertainment purposes, I got a few chuckles out of that one.

Best Stand-Alone Episode -John's Memorial The Young and the Restless, Laura's goodbye, General Hosital

Both outstanding. These two were the best written, directed, and acted episodes of daytime this year. Some other close calls was Neil finds out about Lily's paternity where KSJ and VR brought the house down. And also where Sharon/Brad were making out in the car, where Sharon Case was just excellent.

Most Rejuvenated Family/Character -Jack Abbott and Victor Newman, The Young and the Restless

After months of doing nothing, GC's two prominent characters were finally alive again. EB proved that he was more than a one trick pony, and Peter proved that he is one of the bests.

Most Improved Show - General Hospital

GH was very good in 2006. It was entertaining and character driven for the most part. The vets were seen more, and Nancy Lee Grahn was fierce.

Best Overall Young Cast - General Hospital

Best Young Actors - Van Hansis, As The World Turns; & Bryton, Young & the Restless; Scott Clifton, General Hospital

Best Young Actresses - Jennifer Landon, As The World Turns; Julie Berman, General Hospital; & Adrianne Leon, The Young and the Restless

Best Supporting Actresses - Victoria Rowell, Judith Chapman, & Tracey Bergman, The Young & the Restless; Jane Elliot, General Hospital;

Best Supporting Actors - Ric Hearst, General Hospital; Greg Vaughan, General Hospital; Kristoff St. John, The Young and the Restless

Best Lead Actresses - Nancy Lee Grahn, General Hospital; Susan Flannery, Bold & the Beautiful; Michelle Stafford (earlier in the year); Maura West, As the World Turns; Sharon Case, The Young and the Restless

Best Lead Actors - Peter Bergman/Eric Braeden, Young and the Restless; Anthony Geary, General Hospital; Michael Park, As the World Turns; Michael E. Knight, All My Children (his court stuff)

Best Ensemble Cast: Y&R - From veterans to young adults to children, everybody on Y&R was rocking this year. To make things even better, they were utilized! Characters like Victor, Nikki, Dru, Jack, Katherine and Jill are finally getting their due. There have been some plot stinkers, but I have absolutely no complains in regards to how they used the cast.

Best Breakup Scene: Jack and Carly, ATWT - This was difficult as Nick and Sharon's break up on Y&R was pretty heartbreaking, but Carjack was special. Of course it's all gone to crap now, but I was blown away at just how moved I was. I really wouldn't be surprised if Maura West gets an Emmy nod for this.

Best Wedding: Victoria and Brad, Y&R - This was a classic soap wedding. It had the drama of Neil learning Lily wasn't his daughter, wedding drama not knowing if Victor would accept the marriage and then the romance of Victoria and Brad. I think this is one of the absolute best episodes of the year and I'd put it on the Emmy reel.

Worst Wedding: Austin and Carrie, DAYS - It seems like the show couldn't wait to get these two off the screen with this uber rushed wedding. I can't imagine their fans enjoying this, but what really made me hate this (and their return in general) is how dreadful an actor Austin Peck is. I have no doubt that if a better actor were playing Austin, Christie Clark would still have a job. I dread January when he arrives on ATWT to ruin the flawless cast.

Best Storyline: John's Death, Y&R - There have been many good deaths recently, but this was as good as it gets. What makes me prefer this over the others is just how many people this effected. Not only the Abbott family, but it sent shockwaves throughout Genoa City and everyone had lost a father or a friend. The writers and actors did not miss a step here and the fallout was equally great. Jack locking Gloria out and putting her clothes in trash bags was CLASSIC!

Worst Storyline: Craig's shooting, ATWT - This is a current story and I'm probably the only one who hates it so much, but it has ruined ATWT for me. They have Dusty plan for weeks (and tell many people) that he is going to MURDER Craig, yet it's CRAIG'S fault because he knew Dusty was going to shoot him and tried to prevent it! Even his daughter and sister (Margo, Katie couldn't give a crap) are turning on him. It makes ZERO sense and ATWT doesn't know how to write Craig or anybody really.

Best Couple: Daniel/Lily, Y&R - Davetta Sherwood took a character I loathed with the fire of a thousands suns and instantly made me fall in love with Lily and Dily. They were so cute and just clicked. Even in scenes where they weren't the focus they showed the potential to be the next Dru/Neil.

Worst Couple: Christian/Evangeline, OLTL - I can't believe as much as Frons loves Renee Goldsberry that he'd allow such an amazing actress work with such a loser.

Best Triangle: Phyllis/Nick/Sharon, Y&R - What I loved about this is that no one was made to be the bad person. They were all very flawed people and it was a confusing situation. The only downfall for me has been now that it's over and Nick and Phyllis are together. All they do is have sex, sex and more sex. It's incredibly shallow and it's hard to believe it's part of this great story.

Worst Triangle - Bo/Billie/Patrick/Hope, DAYS - I have to agree with Steve that this is horrid. Unlike Phyllis/Nick/Sharon on Y&R, you can't root for anyone the way this was written and there was no chance Billie or Patrick would be accepted so it was pointless.

Best Recast: Adrienne Leon, Y&R - Lynsy Fonseca was a fine actress, but with her Colleen was so sugary sweet and just plain annoying. Leon has brought an edge and an air of maturity plus she has amazing chemistry with Greg Rikaart. I'd love if Traci returned so these two could have a relationship.

Worst Recast: Spencer Grammar, ATWT - Unlike most actors, she seemed to get worse with time. Not only is she just too young to be a doctor, but whatever age she is she acted like an annoying 12 year old. It was awful watching Peyton List learn to act, but at least she was a reasonable choice for the role. Grammar? Has been pure torture.

Runner Up: Laura Wright, General Hospital. Far too abrasive and arrogant for my tastes. I never thought I'd miss Tamara Braun.

Best Limited Run: Genie Francis, GH - I think GH did a terrible job with this stunt, but Francis turned it out. She slipped right back into Laura's shoes and had great chemistry with her children.

Best New Character: Patrick, GH - He is so sexy and perfectly cast. Plus I'd like to see someone deny that fireworks he has going with Robin! Pure bliss.

Worst New Character: Zarf, AMC - This is a laughable, cheesy stunt and a poor excuse to keep from pairing Bianca with a woman.

Best Returns: Y&R - I wouldn't dare pick GH because while they brought many people back, the writing was dreadful and each character was wasted. Remind me, aren't Robert and Anna still on the canvas? If so, what has happened to this dynamite supercouple that GH fans are clamoring for? Once sweeps is over their usefulness is done. This is why GH can't win for me.

Y&R brought back Traci (briefly), Billy, Lily and Colleen and I enjoyed all of them. Plus so many characters have been revived this past year which is another plus.

Worst Returns: Days of Our Lives - It was almost GH, but this couldn't be overlooked. I can't believe how dreadful Patch and Kayla's return was. I loved Nichols on GH, but they have really made me hate him here. And after brilliant turns on GH/ATWT, I'm sure this isn't what Mary Beth had in mind. Kayla is dullsville. I don't know if this is just how the character is, but I would much prefer having Sierra on ATWT right now.

Best Family Oriented Story: Luke Coming Out, ATWT - It strongly looks like Luke will be forgotten now that he's come out, but I will give ATWT props for the best coming out story I've ever seen. It was realistic, well acted, utilized Luke's family ties and was an actual frontburner story, not just a stunt. Right now I'm disappointed that you have two guys, Elwood and Dallas, with little backstory (and ZERO story), yet the writers haven't tried to put either character with Luke.

Most Entertaining Character: DRUCILLA WINTERS - I don't even need to say what soap. If you don't know you're missing out on one of the greatest characters in history. Victoria Rowell doesn't let a single scene go by without giving 250%. She is absolutely flawless and has so much range. She even has the perfect look for every situation Dru could possibly get into. You know those tshirts that say, "Naomi hit me...AND I LOVED IT?" I'd love one that said, "Drucilla put me in a headlock...AND I LOVED IT!"

Best Villian/Villianess: Emily, ATWT - Kelly Menighan Hensley did a brilliant job taking Emily over the edge. Something I love is that she always seems so pleased with herself even when people say mean things to her, lol. She doesn't quite realize how crazy she is. At this point, it's going to take a long time to redeem Emily so I hope they keep her on this path for a while.

Most Entertaining Storyline: Raven Lake, ATWT - I must agree with Steve, this was such a fun little story. They managed to tie the entire teen set (and some vets like Margo) into this story and create an entertaining summer diversion. I also loved how it tied into InTurn.

Best Stand-Alone Episode: ATWT 50th Anniversary, Sitcoms - I know many would pick the other episode, but I thought this was such a cute episode! They managed to tie so many different characters into this, even Nancy Hughes who was carted off to jail, lol.

Most Rejuvenated Family/Character: The Winters, Y&R - Nobody comes even close in this category. Many people didn't understand why Michael started crying when the Winters told him they were adopting Devon, but I completely understood him. There is something (especially with Davetta) so real and relatable about this family. Even when they are in a sea of misery there is light at the end of the tunnel. They are one of my favorite families of all time.

Most Improved Show - Young and the Restless

Yes Latham has had her faults, but she is bringing in new viewers and making the old ones passionate about the show again. Last year was a disaster and they show was getting so stale. I appreciate the changes and the team effort that is helping revive Y&R and keep it fresh. There are hits and misses, but this is the only way to figure out what works. Her focus on the ensemble cast at hand and multigenerational stories is a major plus for me.

Best Overall Young Cast - ATWT

Best Young Actors - Bryton (Y&R), Van Hansis (ATWT)

Best Young Actresses - Adrienne Leon, Davetta Sherwood, Elena Goode and Jennifer Landon

Best Supporting Actresses - Kelly Menighan Hensley, Terri Columbino (ATWT), Victoria Rowell, Amelia Heinle (Y&R).

Best Supporting Actors - Kristoff St. John, Christian LeBlanc (Y&R), Jordan Clarke (GL)

Best Lead Actresses - Susan Flannery (B&B), Sharon Case (Y&R)

Best Lead Actors - Peter Bergman and Eric Braeden, Y&R. Nobody came close this year so no need to mention them.

Since I only watch the NBC and P&G soaps, those are the only ones I can really comment on.

Best Ensemble Cast: - Guiding Light

There are so many good actors on GL, and so few bad ones, that this is probably the most well-rounded cast currently on daytime.

Best Breakup: - Jack & Carly, ATWT

The timing just made sense, and the Michael Park and Maura West just nailed their scenes. It was well executed.

Best Wedding: - Frankie & Jennifer, DAYS

Even though I'm a hardcore J&J fan, Frankie and Jennifer's wedding was awesome, and one of the best weeks of DAYS this year. It was just a classic DAYS wedding, with Jack barging in back from the dead, and Kayla finding Steve in the garden. It was great.

Worst Wedding: - Lucas & Carrie, DAYS

It was stupid. Between the cheering in the pews, the commentary of just about everyone in the church, and the fact that nothing good even happened just all added up to make this probably the worst DAYS wedding since Jack and Jennifer's 2003 wedding.

Best Storyline: - Zack's Death (Pre-Morgan Island), DAYS

Everything up until Hope and Patrick hooking up was perfect about Zack's death storyline. It had quite possibly some of the best acting I've seen from Kristian Alfonso, Peter Reckell, and Renee Jones, and it was the first time in years that a storyline affected me emotionally because it wasn't done in a cartoonish way like the vast majority of JER's second tenure. Very well done...until Morgan Island.

Worst Storyline: - Vendetta, PASSIONS

There were MANY storylines this past year that could have been given this title, but Vendetta wins (or loses, not really sure which). It was totally over the top (even for PSNS), predictable (Alistair is the monk, who would have seen that coming?), and really nothing more than a Da Vinci Code rip-off gone horribly horribly wrong. The worst part about, though, is that it actually had the potential to be a good storyline.

Best Couple: - Luis & Fancy, PASSIONS

I remember a time when I NEVER would have accepted Luis with anyone other than Sheridan. Well, those days are long gone, because I am now a full-fledged 'Lucy' fan. The chemistry between Galen Gering and Emily Harper is so much better than what we've seen between Shuis in years. The characters bring out the best in each other, and are currently PSNS's only redeeming factor for me right now.

Worst Couple: - Josh & Cassie, GL

I don't know even where to start with these two. The whole concept of Josh and Cassie as a couple was just wrong from the very beginning. Cassie would NEVER betray Reva by taking up with Josh, and after all these years of being in-laws, I've always seen Josh more as a surrogate older brother to Cassie, and definitely not a love interest. Definitely one of GL's biggest mistakes this year.

Best Triangle: - Fancy/Luis/Sheridan, PASSIONS

Really, this triangle only wins by default, because I couldn't think of anything better from this year.

Worst Triangle: - Fox/Kay/Miguel, PASSIONS

There was another triangle from DAYS (Bo/Hope/Patrick) that I was seriously tempted to choose for this, but F/K/M really stood out for me even more. Ever since this stupid triangle started, none of the characters have been acting...well, in character. Miguel's a sex-starved jerk, Fox is now a murderous caricature, and Kay of all people has become a complete wimp, a mere shell of who she used to be. From Miguel suddenly deciding Kay has been the love of his life to Siren the mermaid, everything in this story has just been ludicrous.

Best Recast: - Marcy Rylan (Lizzie, GL)

By the time MR came on the show, the character of Lizzie was becoming a bit stale. But Rylan gave a character that by the end of Crystal Hunt's run seemed boring, and gave her a second wind with her obvious energy. I liked CH's Lizzie, but Rylan has finally given me reason to root for Lizzie.

Worst Recast: - Mark Cameron Wystrach (Fox, PASSIONS)

Everyone knew PSNS would have a hard time filling Justin Hartley's shoes as Fox, but it seems like they didn't even try with MCW's casting. Since he's been on, Fox is a totally different character than the one JH played, with absolutely no charisma or chemistry with ANY of the cast. And the fact that he whispers his lines in the most monotone voice ever certainly doesn't help. It's almost an insult to JH.

Best Limited Run: - Edna, PASSIONS

I know she's an off and on character, but every time Edna has a short return to PSNS she always makes the show a lot more entertaining. No matter how many times she comes back, I'll never get sick of her.

Best New Character: - E.J., DAYS

As soon as he debuted, James Scott brought on a whole new energy as E.J. Wells. Whether E.J. was the nice guy that befriended Sami or the evil outsider, he kept DAYS fresh in 2006.

Worst New Character: - Willow, DAYS

God, where to even start. Willow was unnecessary before she was even cast, but the fact that Annie Burgstede can't act to save her life doesn't help. Are we seriously supposed to like Willow, because there's nothing very endearing about this dumb blonde hooker (oh, sorry, FORMER hooker). With any luck, she'll get an STD and die very quickly, because she just serves no purpose.

Best Return: - Steve & Kayla, DAYS

I had never seen Steve and Kayla before, so when they came back to DAYS, I was totally impartial to their return. With that said, I already love both characters, and with Stephen Nichols and Mary Beth Evans, it's easy to see why they are so popular. Now, if we could just get their storyline moving...

Worst Return: - Austin & Carrie, DAYS

Yes, I know technically they came back in late 2005, but their storyline really didn't start going until this year when they were thrown back into the tired quadrangle with Lucas and Sami that just didn't work this time around. And when that fiasco FINALLY ended, all the fans were given was a two-bit wedding for A/C on their last episode. I was SO looking forward to Christie Clark's return, and it turned out to be such a waste.

Best Family Oriented Story: - Luke's Coming Out, ATWT

This was probably ATWT's best storyline overall this year, but despite how good it was in the beginning (which is why it gets this title), it just fizzled out with Jade and Damian's return, and somehow got lost in those messes.

Most Entertaining Character: - J.T., PASSIONS

Michael Sabatino is awesome as J.T. Cornell, and is a perfect fit for PSNS. He never fails to amuse me, and unfortunately, he probably won't last much longer. J.T. has been one of the few bright spots in what I consider to be PSNS's worst year ever.

Best Villain/Villainess: - Emily, ATWT

I know many will probably not agree with me, but Emily was totally rejeuvenated this year as she was finally returned to her bad girl roots. From shooting Paul to kidnapping Dusty, she was by far the best villain for me this year.

Most Entertaining Storyline: The Oakdale Slasher, ATWT

It wasn't Shakespeare or anything, but it kept ATWT from being a total bore this past summer.

Best Stand-Alone Episode: 2nd Part of Oakdale's 50th, ATWT

It was great getting to see all of the veteran women together for the whole episode, with flashbacks and everything, even if parts of it were contrived or cheesy.

Most Rejuvenated Character: Julian, PASSIONS

Julian had gotten boring over the last couple years, which is something he'd never been before. But this year, with his return to the "dark side", Ben Masters is finally getting to make Julian entertaining once again.

Most Improved Show: Days of Our Lives

Best Overall Young Cast: As The World Turns

For once, some of the most interesting stories this year on ATWT came from they teens. Each has their own distinct identity, with multiple dimensions and quirks that make them individually interesting, and not annoying like certain other teens. Except for Casey and Jade, because I hate them.

Best Show (ranked in order for the year, the other soaps I don't watch are just based on everything I've heard about them):

1) Days of Our Lives

2) The Young and the Restless

3) As The World Turns

4) Guiding Light

5) The Bold and the Beautiful

6) General Hospital

7) Passions

8) One Life to Live

9) All My Children

Best Ensemble Cast: - Y&R. They have by far the most well-rounded cast.

Best Breakup Scene: - Sami and Austin (Days). I loved that scene and that was hard for me to type because I'm not a fan of Austin Peck. Ali brought it in those scenes and I could feel where she was coming from.

HM goes to Nick and Phyllis (Y&R). That scene they had when Noah was in the hospital and Nick realized that they had to end things was great. I could feel Phyllis' pain. I would have put them first, but they were ending an affair rather that actually breaking up.

Best Wedding -I really haven't seen a good wedding all of 2006, so I say none.

Worst Wedding - There really were too many to name, but I have to go with what I thougth were the two worst of the year and they were Carrie and Austin on Days and Nick and Phyllis on Y&R. Carrie and Austin's wedding was so rushed and it really wasn't about them because Sami stole the scene. I love Phick, but that wedding was AWFUL. I mean in a western bar. The words were beautiful, but I just can't get over the tackiness of the wedding.

Best Storyline - John dying on Y&R. That was just great acting by almost everyone involved.

Worst Storyline - Sonny's bipolar on GH. The topic was alright, but the writing and acting was hideous.

Best Couple - Nick and Phyllis (Y&R). They were so unexpected that it blew me away. The chemistry between the actors is too hard to ignore.

Worst Couple -John and Natilie (OLTL). They just bore me to tears and take over all the screen time.

Best Triangle -Phyllis/Nick/Sharon (Y&R). That was a great triangle, even thougth for most of the affair, Sharon didn't know she was in a triangle.

Worst Triangle - Josh/Babe/JR (AMC). It's so redundant. They just keep going around and around and never gets to the point.

Best Recast -Laura Wright (Carly, GH). I loathe Carly, but there's something about Laura that makes me almost like Carly.

Worst Recast - Actually it was an un-recast. Christel Khalil (Lily, Y&R). I loved Davetta in the role and now Lily is just so blah.

Best Limited Run -Genie Francis (Laura, GH). She brought me to tears on a daily basis during her month-long run.

Best New Character -Patrick Drake (GH). One of the best new characters I've seen in a long time. I like how the writers actually developed the character and gave him some depth.

HM goes to EJ (Days). He started off as a good guy with an edge, and slowly the layers began to peel away and you see that he is a bad boy to the bone.

Worst New Character - Willow (Days). The character just sucks (no pun intended).

Best Returns - GH. They brougth back fan favorites, but the don't use them.

Worst Returns - Days.

Best Family Oriented Story -John's death (Y&R). Almost every Abbott shined during the death and funeral.

Most Entertaining Character -Drucilla Winters (Y&R). She has so many layers and you never know which Dru you're gonna get on which day.

Best Villian/Villianess - Manny (GH). He put fear into so many people.

Most Entertaining Storyline - John's death (Y&R). The s/l had such great acting and the day John was taken off life support was almost too heartbreaking to watch.

Best Stand-Alone Episode -Y&R. Durng May sweeps, the episode where Phyllis learns that she's pregnant, Brad & Vicki get married and Paul and JT find out that Brad really isn't Brad, Neil learns that Lily is not his biological daughter, but his brother Malcolm's. That was just great acting by so many people and drama at it's best.

Most Rejuvenated Family/Character - The Winters (Y&R). They have come off the backburner and I love it.

Most Improved Show - GH. They have many problems, but with the way daytime is right now, they have improved the most.

HM goes to Days.

Best Overall Young Cast - GH and Y&R.

Best Young Actors -Bryton (Y&R), Scott Clifton (GH).

Best Young Actresses - Adrianne Leon (Y&R), Julie Marie Berman (GH).

Best Supporting Actresses -Victoria Rowell (Y&R), Tracey E. Bregman (Y&R), Bree Williamson (OLTL), Heather Tom (OLTL)

Best Supporting Actors - Kristoff St. John (Y&R), Dan Gauthier (OLTL) Greg Vaughn (GH), Rick Hearst (GH).

Best Lead Actresses - Nancy Lee Grahn (GH), Michelle Stafford (Y&R).

Best Lead Actors -Peter Bergman (Y&R), Eric Braeden (Y&R), Anthoy Geary (GH).

Best Show

Y&R. It's had there low points this year, but it's still better than the rest.

Taking into account I only watch CBS, and only ATWT faithfully....

Best Ensemble Cast: - ATWT.

Best Breakup Scene: - Michael Park & Maura West, ATWT. SOD should just rename it the Carjack Trophy and give it to them every year, since the writers give us one heartbreaking bust up a year.

HM...Brooke and Nick, B&B. Brooke pushing Nick overboard was flippin' priceless.

Best Wedding - Dusty & Jennifer, As The World Turns eh...I'll go with it. I don't remember a lot of weddings on CBS this year, and Mike and Katie's crapfest ended with Katie straddling Mike in the Interrogation Room. Now, had it ended with either the groom's or the bride's death, I'd reconsider.

Worst Wedding - Felicia and Dante, B&B. Sure, it was an almost wedding, but I seem to remember some god awful black dress and the groom mooning over the matron of (dis)honor.

Best Storyline - sorry, I can't come up with one.

Worst Storyline - The Slasher, ATWT. Not a fan of slasher movies, and not a fan of badly lit ones either. It stumps me how ATWT could have handled Luke's sexuality with kid gloves, and treated Maddie's rape with such callousness.

Best Couple - sorry, can't come up with one.

Worst Couple - Brooke and Nick, B&B HM...Mike/Katie ATWT, Coop/Ava GL, Kev/Jana and Colleen/JT Y&R.

Best Triangle - sorry, no answer.

Worst Triangle - Felicia/Dante/Bridget/Nick/Brooke/Ridge. That's technically a sextangle (? or whatever they call a six-sided anything...lol) but it seemed like one, long, hideous mess all year. The Felicia/Dante/Bridget end was particularly bad, since Dante waffled between the two women for no other reason than they were the mother of his child, the potential mother of his child, or not the mother of his child. ICK.

Best Recast - Marcy Rylan, GL. I'll step out on the ledge, but she's clearly improved so much during the year.

Worst Recast - Spencer Grammer, As The World Turns BIG FAT WORD!!! I will add Mackenzie Maury to the mix. She's stinking up the joint as Phoebe, B&B.

Best Limited Run - Patrick Duffy, B&B...Ewa de Cruz, Vienna, ATWT.

Worst New Character - Nick Kasnoff, ATWT *shivers* ICK.

Worst Returns - ATWT, Damian and Simon

Most Entertaining Character - Billy, GL I don't think it's a coincidence he seems to be on every ITL eppy I bother to watch. HM....Henry, ATWT

Best Stand-Alone Episode -It's not technically a stand alone eppy, but Carly and Jack's break up was given an extraordinary amount of time, and seemed to consume the entire hour. I really didn't like either of ATWT's 50th shows, most GL ITL eppys were horrible. Y&R's Who In the World Killed Carmen was laughably bad. I could go with Jen's death week, but I thought it was like one long root canal. Hal's tribute was lovely, but it was only really half an eppy.

Most Rejuvenated Family/Character - It would be Henry, ATWT, if they had capitalized the Slasher story and propelled him into his own bleepin' story. Otherwise, I have no opinion.

Most Improved Show - Eh...on this week alone, B&B. Too bad they'll lose it all next week as they refocus on the goings on in LA.

Best Overall Young Cast - As The World Turns

Best Young Actors -?

Best Young Actresses - Alex Chando, ATWT

Best Supporting Actresses - Marie Wilson ATWT

Best Supporting Actors - Jordan Clarke, Guiding Light

Best Lead Actresses - Maura West, ATWT

Best Lead Actors - Robert Newman GL , Peter Bergman Y&R , Michael Park ATWT

Best Show ATWT

Worst Tie In or make that Most Egregious Double Whammy.... ATWT trying to sucker viewers into buying Oakdale Confidential: The Sequel, which consists of the original book, plus pictures and a brief new epilogue. Shame on them.

Best Ensemble Cast: - One Life to Live

This may be the suckiest soap around right now, but it's cast is WONDERFUL! Although Dena Higley seems to fixate everything on John, Natalie, and Spencer with a little Todd and Blair mixed in, she has given just about everone in the cast at least ONE chance to shine this year (which isn't enough for most) and they did fabulous.

Best Breakup Scene: - Kelly and Kevin, One Life to Live

This story was terrible, but in that scene right before the tornado where Kevin was taking off Kelly's ring was very well done. Both Heather Tom and Dan Gauthier deserve emmy nods for that.

Best Wedding - Luke and Laura, General Hospital

PERFECT!! Oh, it was so great to be with this great couple in their wedding again. I was so glad when Helena made in appearance. It just wouldnt have been the same without her.

Worst Wedding - Carrie and Lucas, Days of Our Lives

I don't even know what to say...just...horrible.

Best Storyline - Todd's Execution, One Life to Live

From February to May, "One Life to Live" was must-see TV for me!! I was so hooked to see how things would turn out for Todd, the Mannings, and of course my dear sweet Margaret :) :). I was rushing to my television everyday. Of course, this went downhill when Margaret died and that's when I stopped watching...

Worst Storyline - Spencer vs. Llandview, One Life to Live

This is the story that resulted in the death of Margaret, my 2nd favorite character in ALL of daytime, so of course I had to choose it lol. It makes me sick to know that Spencer has been running Llandview for this entire year.

Best Couple - Lucas and Sami, Days of our Lives

I gotta agree with you on this one, Steve. This is daytimes greatest couple!!

Worst Couple - Sonny and Emily, General Hospital

There were definately some horrible couples this year, but this (IMO) was the worst. They have NO chemistry, they have NOTHING in common, and it was just disgusting to watch. Thank God that Guza had the good since to end it!

Best Triangle - Mimi/Shawn/Belle/Phillip, Days of our Lives

I really enjoyed them this year. I loved how things actually started happening-- Mimi and Shawn together/married/divorced, Phillip leaving, Belle and Shawn trying to work on arrangements for Claire...it just really kept me entertained.

Worst Triangle - Charity/Miguel/Kay/Fox, Passions

I just have to FF through these scenes everytime they are on. Not only has the story been ruined with ALL 4 characters being recasts (only 1 of the chosen actors [kay] is remotely good), but everything that happens is STUPID!! Ugh. The only good thing about it is Tabitha and Endora's involvement. ....Hey, I just realized I chose quads for the triangle categories. lol, whoops!

Best Recast - Laura Wright, General Hospital

YES! YES! YES!!! Although Jennifer Bransford will always be my favorite Carly, I LOVE LW. No matter how boring or pointless her scenes are sometimes, she entertains me!

Worst Recast - Miguel (don't remember the actor's name), Passions

So basically, he looks NOTHING like Jesse Metcaf, he can't act, his character has become pointless....and I just cringe when I see him.

Best Limited Run - Genie Francis, General Hospital

Once again, I'll agree with Steve on this. I really enjoyed having Genie back and her story was the first I've cried for since Hope and Bo had to give JT up on Days in '02.

Best New Character - Epiphany, General Hospital

LOL Yeah so she's just a recurring, pointless, no-story character...but I love seeing her on GH!! She cracks me up!

Worst New Character - Zarf, All My Children

WHAT was AMC thinking with this?! There are possibilities for a great story on paper, but with Zarf's personality and the way he is executed I just want to barf. He is so unbelievable and I don't see how anyone could relate to him.

Best Returns - General Hospital

Right again, Steve :). Not much else to say.

Worst Returns - Days of Our Lives

Yep. Steve, Kayla, Carrie, Austin...all of their returns were horrid. I'm just glad Austin and Carrie are gone now. This past year ruined both their characters for me.

Best Family Oriented Story - Zach's death, Days of our Lives

Great material for all of the Brady's. :)

Most Entertaining Character - Margaret, One Life to Live

*sigh* Tari Signor played a flawless psycho that is Margaret Cochran. I saw so many possiblities with Margaret's amnesia...perhaps a pairing with her and David? No matter what she was doing, I loved Margaret. Without her, I absolutely despise OLTL.

Best Villian/Villianess - Janet, All My Children

As much as I wish I could give this to my Margaret, Spencer ruined her chance for it by making her a VICTIM. So, I'll give it to my OTHER favorite psycho from this year...Janet Dillon!! She was able to do so much to the characters in Pine Valley for the few months that she was on canvas and loved how she was so "friendly" as she did it lol. She is definately missed.

Most Entertaining Storyline - Janet's Reign of Terror, All My Children

Great acting from Kate Collins, great character- Janet Dillon, great use of EVERYONE on canvas (Mardi Gras Ball, the truck, etc), just overall a very entertaining storyline.

Best Stand-Alone Episode - None

Eh, no real soap had a great stand-alone episode to me.

Most Rejuvenated Family/Character - Belle, Days of our Lives

I hated her last year. I felt that all she did was whine and lie...but this year, she has been right on most of the time. I've really enjoyed her for the first time since Martha Madison took over.

Most Improved Show - Days of our Lives

Even with JER it was good for the most part. Zach's death, the Gloved Hand, EJ, Phillip leaving town, the death of Alex North, Lumi reuinted...it was just so great!!! After a slow year in 2005, things really happened this year.

Best Overall Young Cast - One Life to Live

Reasons stated in the first award. :)

Best Young Actor - Tom Pelphry, Guiding Light

I can't stand the character of Jonathon, but Tom does a great job with him. I really enjoy watching him.

Best Young Actresses - Julie Bergman, General Hospital

Julie proved time and time again what a great actress this year from being busted for what she did with Diego, to getting the abortion, to saying goodbye to Laura, to her interaction with Jason...she has just done a beautiful job with the character of Lulu.

Best Supporting Actresses - Tari Signor, One Life to Live

As I've said before, she is FLAWLESS in the role of Margaret. Whether Margaret was a raging psychopath or a confused woman with amnesia...the portrayal was dead on. I miss you, Tari!!

Best Supporting Actors - Bryan Dattilo, Days of our Lives

This is for his scenes on the roof after discovering Carrie and Austin. His acting was excellent and I find him to be very underrated.

Best Lead Actress - Susan Flannery, Bold and the Beautiful

Everything this woman does is incredible. I love what she brings to the character of Stephanie. She is the ONLY good thing about B&B.

Best Lead Actor- Trevor St. John, One Life to Live
