December 6, 200619 yr Member I'm not sure of Kay's work on Y&R, I do know that she wrote teens very heavily in the early 2000s and they seemed to be okay teens. Jack Smith has written some good...some bad stuff, he was hit and miss: - Ashley's pregnancy and her going crazy. He penned the story that won Y&R the Emmy. - Victor meeting his long lost father. - Sharon's struggle with Cameron... - Nikki's past...with the earring - Jill and Kay daughter and that storyline - Jabot vs. Newman...that caused Vicki to leave... - Brittany's stripped days - JT and Colleen Number One - Kevin is evil to Gina and Colleen and Lily - Introduced Devon.... - Other stuff!!
December 6, 200619 yr Member So OLTL gets nothing and is stuck with the Hackmeister hack Higley?? This is not fair. OL sucks so bad it is unwatchable. Their sweeps failed as well. Why won't they do anything about OLTL? OLTL needs help too! Whoever mentioned that fan frustration is at an all time low and not going to be keeping viewers tuned in is right. OL fans have been through the wringer more than GH, and as badly as AMC. At least AMC features vets look what Higley is doing to vets on OL, look at that interview Erika Slezak did with tvguide pointing out Higley's agenda and her writing only for that agenda and screw characters like Viki et al. Why can't OL get some help or a new writer? Higley will kill the show if she isn't fired soon.
December 6, 200619 yr Member So what does this mean for OLTL? Are McTavish and Guza getting consultants because they are being eased out or are they being saved? Is the fact that OLTL gets no help an affirmation of the rumor that one of the ABC writers is gone post Holiday's or is it an endorsement of Higley's or is it that once again OLTL isn't a priority no matter that it's sinking like the Titanic.

I'm sure Alden will be involved with OLTL as well. In the end it probably doesn't matter. I don't see much coming of this for any of the shows. It's just Frons trying to make it look like he's doing his job, and continuing the ABC/CBS war but not really using the people he acquires from it.

So how much longer are the OLTL fans supposed to wait? How much more are they to endure? With the history that AMC and OLTL own it would be a full time job consulting for one at any time. Unless this is simply lip service and then it doesn't matter. ABCD is still a business. At some point the declining revenue based on the successive failed sweeps has got to have an impact at the Frons level. He is going to have to do something other than show more failure. Then again why he has lasted this long is beyond me.
December 6, 200619 yr Member Consultants at ABC daytime mean they are first testing your abilities to see what show they want to put you on. Jill Farren Phelps was a consultant back in February 97 before being handed reigns to OLTL months later. McTavish has been a consultant before and that got her hired to OLTL. I am sure Frons is testing them out and if he likes them they will be head writers. I would love to see Jack Smith take over GH as EP/HW and Alden take over AMC. I think these shows would be great with them.
December 6, 200619 yr Member We don't really know who they are for. At this moment they are just story consults. We don't know who they are for. Hopefully it's AMC and OLTL who are doing very badly right now.
December 6, 200619 yr Member They specifically stated GH and AMC were getting their talents so at least those shows seem to be the priority.
December 6, 200619 yr Member Wow - I wonder how long they've been consulting with AMC - bc most of us on here have noticed a subtle change to the feel of the show. A good change.
December 6, 200619 yr Member It says that they're working on all of them. That they are story consulting for AMC, OLTL and GH.
December 6, 200619 yr Member It says that they're working on all of them. That they are story consulting for AMC, OLTL and GH. "I do have a story-consulting deal with ABC for daytime," confirms Alden, who is rumored to be focusing first on the struggling AMC. Smith had no comment on his deal at press time ("It's premature," he hedged), but insiders say his assignment is to focus on GH. As previously reported, Smith was being wooed by B&B after being let go from Y&R, but, in the end, ABC snapped him up instead. The lead in says all but in the details nowhere is OLTL mentioned while AMC and GH are specifically named.
December 6, 200619 yr Member GH and AMC have the Consultants because Higley is getting fired. Frons let Megan stay because he sees potential in the Zarf Story. Higley had until sweeps but she failed so shes gone. Guza is good.
December 6, 200619 yr Member It sounds like these deals are fairly recent so I don't know if their work would be showing up just yet. When were they fired from Y&R? A couple of months ago? If ABC snatched them up right away it could be possible but the article makes it sound like Smith's deal hasn't been finalized yet. Maybe McT is finally realizing she better get her head out of her butt and start writing better. And I wonder why Smith would be consulting for GH instead of OLTL. OLTL certainly needs the help more than GH. I really doubt that they would ever get rid of Guza. And Alden could be consulting for both AMC and OLTL to see where she fits in better. AMC needs the most help so maybe she would go to AMC. OLTL could have McTavish!!! Just kidding!!!! I wouldn't wish her on my worst enemy.
December 6, 200619 yr Member LoL, consulting for the entire network? If that doesn't speak of the network's "unwatchable" factor, I don't know what does! Anyway, this is good news for ABC. But don't you think they sould be in a... uh, I dunno... higher up position? Like, for example, HW's?
