DAYS: what is the deal with the Canadian references?

There must be a Canadian writer on the DAYs staff or a new crate of maple syrup because DAYS has never really incorporated Canada into its show before. But so far, there have been to comically embarrassing uses of Canada which prompted this post.

First, John and Marlena had to fly into Ottawa during the november blizzard that was whiting-out the "lower provinces". Last time I checked there were no lower provinces.

And now today (tomorrow for American viewers) a doctor from Montreal flew in to visit Victor. I'm not sure if the accent the man is supposed to have is French-Canadian or Brazilian.

I'm glad DAYS is using Canada for minor story points but a little bit of research would go a long way. And it shouldn't be hard to find a Canadian in LA, it is the 6th largest Canadian city in world (close to 700,000 displaced Canucks)

But Ottawa is in Ontario, which borders the US. It *is* one of the "lower provinces".

Almost EVERY single province in Canada borders the US except for Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island!

BC shares two borders and even Yukon borders the US (albeit with Alaska, but still it borders the US).

Also the lower province reference still doesn't work cause Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut are NOT provinces!

I have to agree with Dave, the Canadian references are extremely laughable....and I will just not get over this line "Call the damn mounties in"!!

LOL

I am sorry but that line will go down as the cheesiest and most out-dated line from DAYS this year!!

there are no lower provinces. And if you want to get really technical / historical ... Ontario was originally "Upper Canada" till the 1800s.

Did Hoggie bring one of his writers from ATWT? The reason why I ask is that there were a number of geographic references to Canada during the Jordan/Cabot storyline that were just wrong.

I think Meg Kelly, his co-headwriter came from ATWT.....

I didn't say it was right, just saying that may have been the logic.

Yeah, I remember one of the characters saying the capital of Canada was Ontario or something to that effect.

Don't forget good ol' Nova Scotia, we don't border America either :P

In any case, funny stuff.

At least we're getting mentioned though.
