AW: 1968 Rebooted

NOTE: this was originally posted in 2004.

I picked the time period for reboot to be just shortly before the wedding of Walter Curtin and Lenore Moore because it was at that wedding that both Alice Matthews and Rachel Davis Matthews met dashing Steve Frame for the very first time -- and one of the greatest storylines in soap opera history was born....

note: the smaller image is the original portrayer in 1968, the larger is the rebooted character; all original portrayer images are taken from The Another World Home Page

That is neat Matt. I am glad you posted this. I wasn't here when you posted it last. You should proceed with this sometime and expand it.

In my blog I am using some of the characters with same first names but reworked. Many of them are other characters based on AW characters. I have 2 of the same casting choices you have made - Heather Lindell & Stephanie Gatschet.

Some of my others are:

My character of Eunice Gardner is going to be loosely based on Lenore. She is being played by Kelli Giddish (currently Di on AMC). There are other characters making up her character also.

My character of Janice Wolek Martin is a combination of several characters including Ada. She is played by Robin Mattson.

Janice's brother, Sam Wolek, is made of several characters including Sam Lucas. I have him played by Timothy Gibbs.

I have the same actress playing Rachel as you. I have named her Rachel Martin.

My character of Gwendolyn Bergman is based on several characters too - one of them is Liz Matthews. She is played by Judith Light.

My Bill Matthews is my character of Dr. Steven Bergman, played by Bailey Chase.

His sister, Susan, is a combination of several including Susan Matthews, and is played by Martha Madison.

I have not cast any of the others yet - as I am still working on that part. I do know as I told you that I had already pictured in my mind - Stephanie Gatschet as Alice.

Of course I have combined many characters, and fiddled with some of their ages. So mine would not be exactly like yours. LOL

You have assembled a great cast there.

I'm not a AW history buff, but wasn't Lenore played by Susan Sullivan? (from Falcon Crest and more recently as Greg's mother on Dharma & Greg)

Cool cast though you picked - Jacob Young and Kyle Brandt could actually pass for brothers, never thought of that before.

Sullivan was a recast of Lenore in the 1970s. The original Lenore (Judith Barcroft) left the show to have a baby. When she returned to daytime, she joined AMC as Ann Tyler, the role she's best known for. Barcroft's husband is Wisner Washam, best known as a long-time writer/co-head writer for AMC.

When I see that old Pic of Robin Strasser, Shanelle Workman comes to mind.

Thanks for the warm fuzzies, Matt.

I just found this promo on youtube. It's from 1975 and features couples from "Days," "The Doctors," "Another World," and "Somerset." Thought some of you would enjoy it.

Thanks for filling me in :)

Dude, you should write a book on soap opera history. Besides a bit of dough you could make, all this information could be available in one place, plus it seems to be your passion (no pun intended).
