Loving/The City Discussion Thread
Well, I believe they wanted to be edgy & different & try out new ideas, which they did, but it also meant they were in trouble from the get-go. And, just all being in this building in SoHo was not enough of a "tie that binds". I really liked it. A shame.

The long-suffering mother with the troublesome daughter I have called it but I think I'm going to edit maybe & use raven-haired & social climbing! Found out she did it a 4th time on paper. She wrote what was described as the characters she eventually wrote on AW, Rachel & Ada, on the soap THE BRIGHTER DAY but it never aired because the show was canceled.

Oh, I am quite sure it was her idea to do one year. Make or break for the deal. Frankly I did enjoy TracyQ but it still would've been better to have her for 2 years than have a changeover.

They really screwed up in my opinion when they signed her only to a one-year contract. It was like they had to start all over for the second year.

I think you're onto something there. Of course it wasn't as if B&E had that option. Other people had made the decision to end LOVING & begin THE CITY. But there is such a history of network's being more afraid to start a new show than just about anything else. There is reason, though. US Daytime has produced 84 TV soaps. A whole lot of them failed with less than 6 yrs on the air.

I read a lot about it before I wrote it. I watched it live but I wanted to refresh my memory. Somebody else must have gone by his piece & I picked it up from them.

No. I have no idea who that is. Now I'm worried. Guess I'd better go see what he had to say about it. WOW. I think I'd better pull that. My story sounds too much like his story. YIKES. I've never read his story before. Thnks for the heads up. I'll just do a total rewrite of Azure C. Suddenly I feel sorry for people who've been accused of plagiarizing who say they are innocent!!

For PRIDE in my forum I did a rather good (if I do say so myself) write-up of the Azure C storyline on THE CITY, which was the first transgender storyline in a daytime soap. As early as 1976 Linda Gray played a trans woman in ALL THAT GLITTERS but that's a primetime satirical soap so we don't count that. Anyway, because of PRIDE both were fresh in my mind. Last week Jeffrey Carlson's death was announced. Awful that he was so young, just 48. But the headline touted his playing the first transgender character in a daytime soap, Zoe/Zarf on AMC. Good grief.

General Hospital: July 2023 Discussion Thread
Fri., 7-14-23. Molly & TJ are being insufferable to Kristina! Has anyone ever been more defensive than Whiny Molly? After all the worst thing that ever happened to her isn't about her. Calls Kristina a narcissist. I'm not particularly keen on Sonny & Anna scenes. I'm impatient for Spence & Trina to "get it on". At their age, first consummation should be devoutly wished for. It's time someone caught Esme remembering something. I cannot stand them putting Sasha through more hell. Especially with people tricking her into drugging again. At this point Gladys can do no right by me! Frank, get Dan & Chris to do better!

@AbcNbc247 Excellent!! Thanks so much. I love how much information exists in the collaborative group fan mind. But, boy oh boy, did AW really have so many more "Famous Grads of Daytime" than really any other soap. ATW & GH both have a lot. DAYS is pretty stacked. But, AW has more more more.

I don't understand. Just posting links could cause some unwanted attention to the videos? How in the heck does that work? So instead just give the title of the video?

Days: July 2023 Discussion Thread
Finally! Jerry can't stand it any longer & tells the truth to Lani who proceeds directly to Nurse Whitley King's apartment where she kicks in the door & finds Abe nearly catatonic on the sofa. Abe will be going home & getting well. Nurse Whitley King will be going to jail! In other news Marlena has a profitable discussion with Kristen & urges Brady to agree to joint custody. At last! Belle has the papers drawn up & sent to Brady who goes to the mansion & lets Kristen sign them & then tears them into pieces & throws them in the air. I COULD SCREAM! However, Lani can come kick in my door anytime. Me, I loved today.

2023: The Directors and Writers Thread
Carolyn & Richard retired in April. She tweeted that news to me two weeks ago. Jamey has another gig, a primetime soap I believe. Cheryl won a screenwriter's competition & her play will be produced. Dorell was gone months ago & Jazmen's last week was also 2 weeks ago. Sonja Alaar has now written days's script a few times & so has Henry Newman. Yes. In the case of Dorell & Jazmen I believe their contracts had dates that just came up. Dorell still watches the show & tweets about it a bit. When Lorraine Broderick retired earlier Carolyn tweeted that she & Robert were still there "for now" etc. indicating that they were thinking about retirement, too. She said they wanted to give the younger writers a chance. Their daughter is writing at GH. Carolyn was funny. It was around the time of the AW Endiversary & I asked her how she felt about being symbolically represented as a gorilla for all time. She "effin" hated it. LOL I just would hate to see them pay a hefty fine. That's why I'd like to see it be Ron's choice to leave. I heard it was a good hunk of change when he fired Hogie.

@Soapsuds I posted a picture of her at the studio, balloons about, standing between Drake & Deidre, 2 weeks ago. I'm hoping Ken offers her the co-HW spot & Ron quits because that way the show won't have to pay a penalty.

I get what you're saying but it varies some according to where you are. #SoapTwitter DAYS like crazy, substantial GH, little bit of B&B, almost no Y&R except for discontented Teriah fans The Movie database GH out the wazo, tiny bit of DAYS, nothing else Spoutible most DAYS, some GH, som Y&R, have not seen any B&B yet My FB forum really all soaps. SoapHub's all soaps. Soap Opera Central used to be more GH, then DAYs, then Bell soaps, almost no classic soaps Soaps She Knows used to be more GH, then DAYS, then Bell soaps, almost no classic soaps

Well, you might just have a different opinion of GinaT. I would ask if you saw her on GL as Dinah#2? She won an Emmy for that role. Oh, I posted a picture of her with Drake & Dee & they were obviously at the studio & had been having a party. Balloons, etc. Here, let me do it again. Maybe I neglected to post it here. If so, sorry.
