  1. Tamara Tunie is wonderful - top of my list in terms of casting. This bodes so well for the show. I know she's retired, but Renee Jones lives in Georgia and I'd love to see her back in daytime, even if it was a guest stint or recurring.
  2. There is only one Grady episode I like and it's Season 6's The Szechuan Dragon which is the sole time Grady is funny and the whole episode is one calamity after the other for him and his (real life and in the show) wife. Lansbury only appears in short telephone calls but somehow her presence is used effectively for comedic effect and is much more useful than the awful 'bookend' episodes.
  3. A couple of years ago, someone on YouTube posted the entirety of the Franco Kelly storyline, concluding with Sami on death row, and then into the Princess Gina years...I watched every episode and was hooked. It's shocking just how good even that era of DAYS was. The only explanation I have is Sony/Corday have some long term plan because it otherwise makes no sense. B&B's reruns on YouTube are fantastic and certainly don't hurt the current show.
  4. The official party line from Angela was Jean was simply too tired after doing All In The Family and wanted a break from series television after considering the amount of work that would have been involved in an hour long series as lead. The timing of it sounds right and Bea Arthur was a close friend of Angela's so she might have tipped her off about the project. Joan had known Angela from when she first arrived in Hollywood. They infamously did a song and dance number at the Oscars one year with Dana Wynter that flopped hard with all the best actress nominees they were teasing. They also shared a close mutual friend in Robert Wagner.
  5. Angela was looking to get into series television. Her agents provided her with two pilot options. The first was a sitcom from Norman Lear and the second was Murder, She Wrote. Angela had meetings on both, but quickly decided that Murder, She Wrote, was the project she wanted to do and that the character of Jessica she could do something with. After that, the process was very quick so I don't believe Jean Stapleton went very far. What I do observe is the characterization of Jessica as a dotty New Englander in the first half dozen episodes seemed slanted for Jean, and once those episodes were finished, the writers saw how Angela's natural warmth and intelligence translated onscreen, and the character became what she was for the rest of the run.
  6. Bill Bell knew talent. McCook, Storm, Koslow, and Conley - not one false note in the bunch. And Langan knew that if a performer could make it on Y&R, they'd fly at DAYS.
  7. Mauricio has several lawsuits flying around including that $35 million one involving the Malibu house where they threw their Gatsby party... I have always felt their divorce felt...strategic. I stand by that feeling.
  8. Tom Girardi found GUILTY of $15 embezzlement. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/jury-reaches-verdict-embezzlement-trial-former-real-housewive-rcna166757
  9. That's how I feel - I've never understood the appeal. It's a bad time to get the axe given she's a 48 year old woman in Hollywood. But once upon a time, Kelly was the young actress whose arrival unseated one or more middle aged veteran women. Circle of life at ABC Daytime.
  10. Delighted to hear she's back for a guest run. I hope this means more scenes with Lauren Koslow.
  11. I think your take is the right one. It has to have been conflict with Brad and her Emmy nomination proving she was right. The weird thing is something had to have changed with him years ago. He worked very well with Susan Flannery for decades and she was no slouch when it came to quality performances. KKL has so many online detractors it seems like that was an easy scapegoat. I’ve just never seen any behaviour from her, ever, to substantiate those kinds of rumours.
  12. The internet alleges that Krista Allen getting an Emmy nomination so shortly after joining the show, as a recast no less, created some jealousy behind the scenes with veteran actresses. I'm not so sure how much I believe that. Her exit just seemed so strange. It's like she was too successful with the character and made Taylor too popular.
  13. Her intentions look insincere because they are insincere. Tamra doesn't care about anyone except herself. She hates Shannon. Tamra clocks in to create as much conflict as possible because she doesn't want to lose her job again. However, she always fails to realize how toxic she is and how that toxicity cannot last forever.
  14. Another thing: why Brad Bell never got into models and their agents as characters boggles me. He could hire two unknowns as models and Kristian Alfonso as a ruthless modelling agency owner, and you'd have an incredible storyline that could tie in with the Forresters and stand on its own.
  15. NJ The 'Off the Rails' finale rewatch episode was yet another dud. Nothing was resolved and nothing new was discussed. Teresa remains the Missing Link between the Neanderthals and Mankind. She is too stupid to function and her obsession with Margaret will never end. It really is time to give her a spinoff so her fans can enjoy whatever it is she does...the show cannot move on with her remaining a cast member. Time to reboot and recast the whole thing.
  16. I have to wonder what Hunter Tylo did to warrant never returning.
  17. Completely agree. Teresa has no remorse whatsoever and is too stupid to be entertaining.
  18. RHONJ was a total flop and I remain firm that they need to fire the whole cast and either rest the show entirely or reboot it. Talk about a toxic dumpster fire.
  19. I would expect this kind of work would be a real lifeline for Guza given Meg's passing. He's a writer I'm ambivalent about because he's written some of my favourite GH (the mid to late 90s) and also why I don't watch GH anymore. Vivica has been my #1 pick for this show. Whether she'd do it I don't know...but she would be a name that daytime audiences would connect with. The one thing I remember about Julie Hanan Carruthers is that Susan Lucci said publicly that she was very kind and well liked by the AMC cast and crew. This EP position will surely be about setting up the day to day running of the show. She had little creative involvement in AMC and I expect that to be the same with The Gates.
  20. My eyes widened at this comparison and as I let out a cynical chuckle, I could only conclude I found it amusing because it's 100% true. I do get the impression that Bravo is looking at the RH franchise as becoming more trouble than it's worth. The downturn in ratings, rising salaries of the OG's (you'll note most have been axed a la Frons era ABC Daytime), and recent litigation spells an unsavory recipe for the future of the franchise as a whole.
  21. NJ Another absolute flop of an episode. Thank goodness the season finale is next week. The scene where Teresa thinks she's exposing Marge was just pathetic. She is such a doofus and so utterly stupid. "Guys, it'll blow your mind!" and then even the editors had to play around with the music and point out how flat her 'revelation' landed. The only memorable part of the episode was the funeral flower arrangement Margaret sent for memorializing Teresa and her slimy lawyer's dignity. This season is total and utter garbage. Time to fire all of them and reboot a la RHONY. OC On the other hand, this show has been awesome and every episode is firing on all cylinders. While the producers seem to have it in for Shannon and literally trying to break her, she is rocking each episode. Emily is also a hilarious addition. The comments she's made about Archie in the front seat "10 and 2 Shannon, 10 and 2!" were laugh out loud funny. Jenn is a loser in the classic Lynn Curtin mould. Gina was very high and mighty with her...but she did live in a casita and get herself together in a way that Jenn never will...so I can kind of understand her wrath. Katie is a great addition. Calm and young and has some family storylines brewing. Tamra remains an evil succubus. Heather remains rich.
  22. This is surely good news for DAYS. I loved the Brash and Cwickly era so welcome the return of Paula Cwickly. Jeanne Marie Ford has been associated with DAYS since 1992 so she has seen the good and the bad and likely knows the difference.
  23. I think it's a bad move on Halle Berry's part. She has been in desperate need of a commercially viable project to get her name and face back out there. She's been languishing in projects nobody has seen for years.
  24. This has been a very sad few days. RIP to Richard, Dr. Ruth, and to Shannen. Each one was an original who contributed something to popular culture that will never be duplicated.
