YR: Sharon/Chance spoiler
Sharon and Chance's first kiss occurs at Crimson Lights. If they continue with the relationship it will be the perfect place to meet. They will have the place to themselves as there are no customers.

YR spoiler from Zuleyka
She's obviously a newbie unfamiliar with the show. Most of the characters on the show have committed crimes including murder and walk around free. That's modern day soap writing for you.

Being Over The Hill On Soaps | Days of our Lives, Another World, All My Children, As The World Turns, Young & the Restless
Thanks for posting. A pity it was only half hour with too many guests to really get into anything. Maybe one actor from each network would have been enough and more in depth questions. A lot of the audience asked variations on the same question. I think the mistake the soaps made and continue to do so is underestimate the popularity of the older characters with all age groups. Older characters don't necessarily need a story but just a point of view and a valid presence on the show.

Thanks again @FrenchFan for those synopses. I've never known how Dick and Claire were involved in the story. it seems the Rec House was being used as aback drop at the time and was the vehicle to introduce black characters into the show. It was during that time that Irene Cara was on the show. Dick was played by Michael Zaslow. Anyway in her book Mary says there was backlash about the stories and the Rec House was dropped. Adam Wade was one of the Black actors and he later hosted a short lived CBS gameshow 'Musical Chairs'. Appearing on the first ep was Mary Stuart.

The Doctors Discussion Thread
Very disappointing news. The chance to see how the show handled those final years and some controversial stories-the plague, the Adrienne aging story etc. Also unknown actors/characters that appeared. The only hope now is that episodes might pop up from home taping, copies made by actors/crew. Or scripts as we are seeing with other shows.

@FrenchFan thanks for these. Very interesting. Murph was Dr Peter Murphy played by Charles Siebert. Henri was John LaGoia later on EON. Previous to this he had been listed as appearing in 69. Annabelle Shayne was played by Judith Searle. Tony Vincente had been introduced in April. Guess they had decided to kill off Sam and bring in Tony to slowly build toward a new romance for Jo.

Stars who didn't conquer TV
There really wasn't any place for actresses from the 40's on primetime in the 60's. Female lead dramas were non existent . TV movies were just beginning to take off in the late 60's. So it was guest spots as the only option. Barbara Stanwyck was the exception with Big Valley. Jean Arthur was another who tried a comeback but the Jean Arthur Show was a flop.

Y&R July 2023 Discussion Thread
There doesn't seem to be anywhere for Billy to go at this time. The podcast thing went nowhere,he and Chelsea are a snooze and another round of Billy/Phyllis or Billy/Victoria would be deadly. Had Josh just focused on Jabot and family/business conflict, Billy would have that to fall back on and be able to be around in a strong supporting role for a while forming alliances/rivalries with Jack, Ashley, Kyle ,Allie and other cast members working there eg Mariah, maybe Audra. A tight focus where characters can interact on a personal/business basis. But instead we have Newman Media, Devon's company, Marchetti (why?) Tucker's company, Fenmore's,Jabot etc None of it is dealt with properly but Josh keeps using takeovers and new ventures as the basis for stories when nobody has staff and most deals take place in restaurants.

ALL: Types of characters every soap needs
But it was stated the show was cancelled before her stories could air which puts the time firmly as 1962. Even if that was incorrect, there has been no mention anywhere else that Agnes had any involvement with TBD. Yet her association with all other shows in that timeframe is well documented. The Young Marrieds did have a connection to General Hospital as a couple of GH characters appeared on TYM. Just because Port Charles wasn't formally named it doesn't negate the fact that TYM was set nearby. I am not trying to assert that Agnes wrote the show in 62. Until I see a credible source state that she was involved I remain unconvinced. A Wiki entry possibly based on an anonymous post from a defunct website is not enough for me.

ALL: Types of characters every soap needs
Agnes Nixon had been hired to write the show (and had created the character on which Ada and Rachel Davis, two characters on NBC's Another World were based), but the show was cancelled before her work was ever taped. Ms. Nixon then went to write The Guiding Light. Two quotes from above posts. I am going to labor the point here. To say that we do not know when Agnes was writing TBD but also state that the show was cancelled before her work was taped clearly puts the timeline in 1962. I believe Agnes took over TGL in 58 when Irna wanted to work full time on ATWT. Hence my reluctance to accept this as fact. There is so much misinformation floating around that we need to have consensus.

ALL: Types of characters every soap needs
That Wiki entry says Agnes Nixon went on to write The Guiding Light, when in fact she was already writing that show in 1962. So on the basis of that incorrect statement and no other mention of this in any other reference I am not convinced about Agnes writing TBD or plans to bring on a mother/daughter story.
