Three distinct eras: Bill Bell, supercouple, Reilly. Unfortunately I wasn't alive for the Bill Bell years but those who were fortunate enough to have seen them describe them as a well-written masterpiece. My school years overlapped with the supercouple years and Reilly years but I couldn't get into them at all. I don't know how much of the Bill Bell years has surfaced but I would watch them to see actors and actresses that Bill Bell later worked with on Y&R/B&B and elements of storylines that Bill Bell later used on Y&R/B&B.

1984/85 was probably the 1980s peak of Aaron Spelling hit factory in terms of number of shows on ABC, but it was showing signs of weakening. Dynasty moved up from 3rd to #1. Hotel dropped from 9th to 12th. The Love Boat fell out of the Top 30. T.J. Hooker and Matt Houston were done at the end of the season. Finder of Lost Loves and Glitter were one season and done.

Beth Maitland was 27 in 1985, so 6 years older than Judi Evans.

The younger categories were introduced in 1985 and I think it was because of Judi Evans supporting win in 1984. She wasn't even 20 years old and had been on GL for only one year at the time.

I always point out Days as being an interesting case in soap history. Started as a Bill Bell show but became known for the supercouple era and Reilly era. @Reverend Ruthledge and @vetsoapfan I take it you weren't fans of supercouple Days and Reilly Days.

I would consider Phillip/Beth and Josh/Reva supercouples, at least in the Kobe/Long era.

GL was not in a very good place creatively in June 1994 (Nancy Curlee left the writing team three months earlier) and from the ratings it was effectively over in the aftermath of OJ, thus cancel territory in 1995. IIRC cancel rumors got really strong in 1996 when it looked like Bradley was preparing to expand B&B to 1 hour (which I suspected was being timed for the 10th anniversary in March 1997) but as we all know that didn't happen. That explains leaving at the end of initial contract and going to Days. Judi Evans was employed steadily for the better part of 16 years, from her joining GL in 1983 until the end of Another World in 1999. The gaps between GL/Days and Days/Another World were only a few months if I'm not mistaken.

That was late summer/early fall 1990.
