Dallas last #1 season. Dynasty was threatening Dallas dominance (I think Dynasty 1983/84 was better than 1984/85). Falcon Crest best season. Knots Landing second best season. Hotel was The Love Boat on land but a little soapier. 1983/84 was the final season for two shows from Aaron Spelling hit factory, Hart to Hart and Fantasy Island.

Re: 1983/84, I don't believe Hotel was a better show than Knots Landing that season. Hotel rode off the coattails of Dynasty. Knots Landing was excellent in 1983/84 (that was my second favorite season of the show) and it unfortunately missed the Top 10 by very little.

Probably because the few they got didn't sell well. Just a guess. SOD in the 1980s the cover stories were mostly ABC big three, Days, Santa Barbara. Heck, even Y&R did not get much love from SOD in the 1980s. I remember searching 1980s and 1990s SOD issue listings on eBay and other sites and I did not come across any Beverlee McKinsey interviews during her GL run. The only interviews of hers I've read online were the 1992 TV Guide interview and a late 1990s/early 2000s "where are they now" interview for Soap Opera Weekly.

Re: Kyle, he comes across as a replacement for both Alan and Josh. Going by the timeline, Chris Bernau and Robert Newman both departed 1984 and returned 1986, and Larkin Malloy arrived 1984 and departed 1987.

CBS/P&G were shaken by 1978-1982 ABC big three huge rise and dominance, thus the changes to the shows, and were shaken again by Reilly Days huge rise in the aftermath of OJ.

Ashley Peldon and Kimberly J. Brown were both born in 1984, so AFAIK Marah stayed the same age 1989-1998. Whether we like Reva or not, she was GL's definitive character of the final 25 years.

I was expecting a Derek/Andre confrontation today but there wasn't. When Ashley saw Andre/Dani, I'm like "oh snap, some s--- is about to go down". Are we going to get Andre/Dani breakup next week?

All of what I watched of the final 15 years was from 1997 and early 1998.

Aftermath of Maureen death until Nancy Curlee leaves the writing team was a chore to get through. Way too much Buzz. I can only imagine how painful it was to watch in real time.
