  1. Errol will you be posting things from yesterday after the holiday weekend? before everything is going behind the paywall a few months of episodes were free so they are using bad info. Is the move in Canada a big deal?
  2. DRW50 that is horrifying, but thank you for sharing that link.
  3. The Thursday before the last unofficial weekend of Summer when people are traveling…great time to promote or try to do a press junket. Feels like they are burying the move. Robert Scott Wilson was the first full time male model on The Price is Right, so he is known to people who have no clue about Days.
  4. This made me laugh since some people listed were recasts and their predecessor is still remembered fondly.
  5. My local NBC did mention when AW was cancelled that it was ending, so people who weren’t online would have found out from them. At least they did have a little time to plan goodbye on screen unlike Days. With days they did announce on the news. I figure they will run banners about new schedule if anything changes time slot, but that is a local not national thing. errol looking forward to that report.
  6. For years the NBC related stations on cable would program things against primetime specifically in the 10 pm hour. I am surprised and not surprised by this idea especially after the Leno fail.
  7. GL was taken off by a top ten tv market in the early 90s That is why they did the Remote in Northern California, with Nick and Mindy mainly to try to promote the show to keep it on that station but they still pulled the show in 1993.. People in that area with one cable company could see it, but they lost many viewers of course. The morning outlet thing with the show airing behind started fall of 1995.
  8. They should have said the time also as with time zones just September 1 through 30 may not be enough.. anyway cast and Corday for switch in Tvinsider https://www.tvinsider.com/gallery/days-of-our-lives-moving-peacock-cast-celebration-photos/#6 the gallery may spoil who is still on show months from now.
  9. The primetime shows leaving Hulu this fall and being exclusive to Peacock was announced in March 2022 this article from variety shares that announcement. https://variety.com/2022/digital/news/nbcu-terminates-hulu-tv-disney-peacock-1235196550/ though they didn’t mention Chicago shows by name they said everything so this was decided previously.
  10. There are internet savvy people of all ages. The main issue I can see other than if you aren’t reading entertainment news that it wasn’t promoted earlier. I have an older smart tv and I can’t access Peacock on it as the app didn’t exist when the tv was bought and they never updated the software to add the service. I can absolutely see that being a stumbling block for some people who would watch Days — the tv is four years old. Also and now they may sound kind of weird if someone watches the show live over lunch, whether at home or in an office, it may be a habit. And some won’t decide to watch it on a small phone screen at the same time or make the time at another part of the day…aka the casual viewer.
  11. I don’t get why HBOMAX didn’t just pull things at end of month like they do with certain movies that cycle. That way we could have at least week or more to watch instead of this madness in the night with creatives only finding out with the rest of us. Getting back to Days, why would you only start promoting in the dead week before Labor Day? This rollout has been painful and illogical so far.
  12. Playing devils advocate for a minute, if a performer isn’t given story on a regular basis why would anyone expect them to be honored for a landmark anniversary? With Y&R at least they use Eileen Davidson even if she is off contract, and if they had honored her and not Beth Maitland who started at the same time the audience would have noticed. I wish when Genie had her 45th anniversary they called it the 45th anniversary of her start on GH If people act like she was on the whole time when she wasn’t I get annoyed. If you leave for an extended time and it is not health related and you go on another daytime show, it doesn’t count…sorry. If you have a contract out to do other things and get permission like Susan Lucci did so Erica would just be off screen for a time and did not technically leave it is another story. If a show ignores you and you appear in less then 10% of episodes or even 2 episodes per month why would you be celebrated for longevity when it clearly isn’t something the show cares about. is lip service of one episode and some photos and press enough? If someone is older and semiretired sure, but if they can work then it is frustrating. This seems to be just a weird soap thing as in other long running shows this doesn’t happen. People don’t go around saying things like Genie’s husband has been Riker in the Star Trek universe for 35 years just that it is the anniversary of when he started…even though he returned to the role years after TNG ended. Why soap viewers and the shows themselves do this and have for years is a major pet peeve considering most of my posts are three sentences long not three paragraphs sorry about that.
  13. By putting DWTS online only there is one good factor, the voting. Once the show started being on only one night a week, and they decided to only count votes made during the show, much of the country couldn’t vote or if they did it was based on who they liked and not on the dances. They stopped using the votes from the prior week for the current week, as that also was annoying…if the US had one time zone or they showed DWTS on tv live everywhere then voting would have been more inclusive as only people in California who saw the routines were in studio or watching on the seas so to speak.
  14. Surprising hope those who are mourning are okay, never interacted with Nelson.
  15. Where are you viewing Joseph?
  16. It is continuing for now, but it’s future is very uncertain. The last renewal may be the last, and well, Corday does not make things better.
  17. You can love the show, but not like it right now or be bored… SIGH AND confirmation of how long until episodes would potentially change due to being on Peacock.
  18. Yes it is more of the same with them being ignored. If the show did kill one or the other it would be all about someone Frank felt was important.
  19. There are some things on US Paramount Plus that aren’t on international versions, so I don’t see that as a factor as much as it could be. I do wonder what it means with Walmart beginning to offer it as a perk with their monthly service for shopping. Soaps are much more expensive than the news or talk or game shows, which is why the networks went away from them. That said soaps tend to have more loyal audiences than some other genres.
  20. Paying $4.99 for one game is insane I get why these baseball fans were angry.
  21. I think this change ends the casual viewer…and may cause those who were getting bored or are bored to move on, ofc less likely to get hate watching if you have to pay. The one thing that gets me is the whole Beyond Salem was successful behind paywall, but part of that had to do with people who may not be on Days proper for months to come so they cannot capitalize. Agree if they did post complete library of 20th century episodes, I would be happily surprised.
  22. With individual streamers existing now for major companies, Netflix and Hulu may have issues as they lose back catalog. Hulu may also be in trouble with NBC pulling their shows to Peacock and Disney+ added some shows that are more graphic than GH, so it isn’t the destination that it once was. The European equivalent has everything both Family Friendly and not on Hulu and Disney Plus too, so it goes back to contracts. It may be a known brand, but it may be less for streaming network shows and if there are not enough originals people may unsubscribe if all they use it for is time shifting shows that are now on other streaming sites. getting back to Days since the show is streaming only in the US thankfully Canadians can still watch, they should start making the format more palatable for online viewing. There is no need to flashback to something that happened a day or week before typically unless they are giving new information. With how far ahead they are we probably won’t get changes for a long time which makes it more annoying. I do wonder if Days and Peacock will provide help to set up the app, as it is not available on all smarttvs, and if you only have a phone watching something longer is a pain. So they should team with Roku or something….
  23. If I watch days it is on tv right now is not entertaining enough to spend time to stream.
  24. If SNL ends with a retirement of Lorne Michaels that is fine supposedly SNL was one of the most popular things on Peacock as they have back catalog. I can see local stations being upset as they will get the irate calls when Days stops airing on their affiliate in September.
  25. To download anything on Peacock you have to have ad-free $9.99 per month service..that is also called premium like the $4.99 it is strange. I can see some local stations as upset if Days brings people to their local news broadcasts or if someone is home and they just leave the tv on without switching channels.
