  1. Oddly this stuff feels like it was yesterday too! Technically I believe the past week has marked 25 years since Victor resurfaced in Genoa City; I am officially ancient.
  2. Lol, and Carol and Marjorie are definitely far more adept than Megan "The paparazzi are here!" Conley ever was at doing press conferences. Thanks! After recently re-watching the best of Mari Jo I felt it was time for a nice change up. Especially after realizing it has been well 25 years since a lot of this stuff went down!
  3. Thanks for the fun find YRfan23!!! Lol I suppose these "very important" press conferences gave Brad the inspiration to do his own uber dramatic press conferences over on B&B.
  4. Would make sense! I count Brown in with group of historically NYC soap actors that later found massive success with West Coast soaps.
  5. @YRfan23 I LOVE YOU!!!! Thank you for sharing!
  6. Wow never seen Brown in the role of Adelaide before! I've only seen Beverly Penberthy scenes which was such a treat. Given Brown's daytime fame, I wonder if ATWT had originally planned to keep her a lot longer but by that point I'd assume Brown lived on the west coast?
  7. I really enjoyed Dunphy too, she reminded me of a young Alison Sweeney. I know some hated her but her Alison was fun where as Schulenburg's Alison was pretty bleak. I'm surprised Dunphy never did anything else.
  8. It seemed like an odd revelation to make that Iris was adopted and then later to reverse the whole thing. I also found it odd in watching a couple summer 1979 90-minute eps of how cordial Iris was to Rachel at that point in AW history; I guess Iris had rejected Mac by that point and didn't like Janice so she felt sorry for Rachel? I really enjoyed Carmen Duncan's Iris and hated that her and the character were so undervalued and underplayed right up until that mind-boggling terrible exit.
  9. Thanks for sharing, it's always nice to hear whenever her voice pops up. Steele had actually taken over as announcer in late '81 when the show was still on CBS, but I have no idea how late into 1982 she was announcing to. One source I have lists her as announcer through 1984(except for Don Pardo doing the infamous live ep) until when Hal Simms of EON fame took over, but I don't think that's accurate. There use to be the 1-15-82 closing credits up on Youtube somewhere where Steele gave her own ATWT-style Friday spiel at the end of the credits, but I don't know if that video is still up somewhere.
  10. I loved the four of them, along with the first Jade who was fun as just a total shallow bitch. I hated their characters were destroyed by some very poor storytelling there--Will and Gwen getting baby rabies, Maddie become stark and depressing during the slasher story, and of course Casey being sent up the river for the Adam debacle. Ugh. The slasher story and the subsequent Ice storm stories were actually ratings successes for ATWT. The less said about Nick Kasnoff, Adam Munson's 2006/07 story, and Jeffrey Meek's Craig the better. I didn't think 2006 ATWT was awful per se, just found it overall disappointing and not fulfilling its potential and overall just poor execution of stories. The fallout of 2005 just seemed to be brushed aside and anything good that came out of it was inexplicably downgraded. Like @P.J. said, characters like Carly, Emily, and yes even Katie were destroyed for some ridiculous misogynist stuff. Carly and Katie were first ran through the wringer with the Nick Kasnoff caper and then thrown under the bus for Simon. Emily became a psycho again, keeping Dusty chained and then becoming a hooker by year's end. Also losing Jennifer left a huge hole in the show as she had become a tent-pole character and lead heroine to the show by that point, why the show didn't recast is beyond me. The attempted Emmy-grab story had some good acting, but its resolution was a massive failure and probably lead indirectly to Hendrickson's tragic passing. Meg chased after Craig because they their names rhyme! Still overall, 2006 was probably ATWT's last solid year and the last year the show would actually try to tell a story that lasted longer than a month. How the hell Spencer Grammer still has an acting career after playing Lucy on ATWT like the way she did is beyond me. The apple fell very, very far from the tree there.
  11. Thanks, it just struck me as odd that there were three narratives about Hal going on at the same time; the sad thing was characters like Kirk making some nasty snarky comments about Barbara not knowing Babs thought that Hal was dead and was withholding the truth from everyone else, yet both Kim and Lisa knew about Hal being presumed dead etc. It just came off as messy and unnecessary to me. I wonder why the Bell Tower episode was pre-empted that day? I know the 1-17-94 ep was pre-empted due to the Northridge earthquake but I'm not sure what happened to the 2/2/94 episode. Thanks for all your help though!
  12. Loved those classic Craig and Sierra clips! I always forget that Sierra didn't know Lucinda was her mother upon her arrival given how quick Lucinda was to meddle into Sierra's life. So I'm rewatching late 1992 eps and just two questions I have I can't why remember or fill the gaps in for sure: 1. Barbara and Frannie never ever made up did they? 2. Hal's death story is extremely peculiar; Barbara and half the town thinks he's dead, the other half thinks he just left town and abandoned Barbara, and then of course Tom knows he is still alive. Why the "secrecy" about Hal's death when it seems everyone close to Barbara knew he was dead.
  13. -First breakdown I'd say happened when Ashley found out Dina was her boyfriend Eric's other woman. -Second was learning that Brent Davis was her father -Third was from part Victor's extremely cold rejection of her following her abortion, the other part was depression/guilt from the abortion itself. -Fourth was after her husband Steven was murdered. -Fifth was a mini-break following Victor's presumed death -Sixth was the above following the Rick/Blade reveal -Seventh was Ashley having to confess to Victor that she was in fact the secret woman Cole had been seeing. -Eighth was learning of Brad and Olivia's affair -Ninth was following her car accident and son Robert's death. -Tenth was her hysterical pregnancy after her miscarriage with the whole Adam gaslight debacle. Am I missing any? Your welcome!! The synopsis for the month I have mention Lauren was growing close to Paul again as she was helping him recover and regain his strengths from injuries from Phyllis running him over, but she also stopped herself short and was pushing him back to Christine as well. Coming off of her hot tub fight with Sheila over on B&B, I guess they really had no idea what to do with Lauren by that point on Y&R.
  14. Thanks for sharing!!!! It's been years since I remember watching the infamous pillow stabbing scenes as Ashley was finally allowed to go berserk following the chilling yet low key revelation. Throwing Jill into the mix of the Rick/Blade story was a smart move and really helped save and drive the story's climax and aftermath.
  15. Yep! Hollen appeared as Patricia Kingsley, and her husband had been murdered by Hans. Patricia if I recall right knew of Paul or something, and there was some throwaway lines of how Paul Ryan was the one to introduce Lily to Damien. Interestingly Paul never showed up in person although I wondered if they thought about bringing him back as a connection to the plot at some point.
  16. The following all comes from Soap Opera Update in April 1995:
  17. It was, and we even were introduced to members of the Kingsley family to boot (I think if I recall right the daughter had a thing for Andy, who saved her from a car bomb) right around the time Marland had passed away.
  18. I know Shannon was pre-Marland as wasn't her initial start was she came to Oakdale after hearing of it from the stories Karen Haines had told her about it or something like that. I do know that Kasnoff's and Julie's kids, all introduced in 1994 were original creations from Marland's long term bible; at the least for the Kasnoff family their stories went in quite the opposite direction of what Marland had planned.
  19. I'm glad that Steph finally got the exit she deserved and was reunited with BOTH her sons! It was finally the proper type of exit for Steph I'd been waiting for after Susan Bower had obliterated the character of Steph to facilitate her exit(her 2013 return wasn't any better either).
  20. Makes sense, I know she only appeared briefly again as Sierra in later '94/early '95 to reunite with Craig and go back to Montega. The reality of course is very shameful unfortunately. Love your pic of Debbie Simon btw!
  21. The sad thing is I watched an October 2000 episode recently with Emily talking about her history with Craig and mentioning both Sam and Sierra, except it was with Hunt Block's Craig ugh. It was a nice rare history nod though. Other than Tremors and an early episode of Law & Order, I can't recall what else Finn Carter has done while I know Bryce has maintained a steady working acting career on a variety of projects. I did enjoy what Evans did bring in the role of Sierra, but the show barely used and even when Evans finally went on contract nothing big happened.
  22. Your welcome! I've unearthed a lot more 1995 articles, pictures, and recaps I found saved that I'll probably share on this thread later tonight/tomorrow here. Would love to see the Ashley and Brad scenes! Victor and Nikki's couple status at this point sounds even more tortured than Cruz and Eden on Santa Barbara; same goes for Victoria/Ryan/Nina.
  23. I believe we have a gap in the 1992 video collection between summer 1992 and Christmas 1992, so these weekly recaps for September and the first half of October 1992 should hopefully fill a little bit of that gap @YRfan23:
  24. Courtesy of Soap News from 09/26/00, here's an overview timeline of Tom and Margo's first twenty years: 1980 Barbara Ryan dumps Tom at the altar for her former lover James Stenbeck. Tom goes to Europe to investigate James. Margo Montgomery moves to Oakdale to be with her mother Lyla and her sister Cricket. 1981 Tom returns from Europe. Margo has an affair with James Stenbeck (who's married to Barbara). Tom is involved with Maggie Crawford. Margo learns that John Dixon is her real father. 1982 Tom & Margo fall in love while chasing after criminal mastermind Mr. Big after John Dixon is murdered(or so we think!). 1983 Tom represents John's accused "murderer" Dee Stewart so Margo breaks their engagement. However John resurfaces alive and the two reconcile. Margo miscarries her and Tom's first baby. Tom and Margo marry. 1984 (this includes late 1983, early 1985) The character of Tom is recast twice; the character of Margo once. Craig saves Margo's life when an undercover bust goes bad. Margo is made a detective. Margo is diagnosed with hysterical deafness after a shoot-out goes bad. 1985 Kim and Bob marry. Tom and Margo fight over her career/starting a family. Tom helps Barbara start her fashion business. Barbara tricks Tom into thinking he slept with her. 1986 Tom and Margo's first separation. Margo and Hal date, grow very close. Margo finds herself pregnant by Tom, despite their estrangement. Tom defends Kim on murder charges. Tom and Margo reunite. Tom is elected district attorney. Margo loses her baby late in the pregnancy while saving Barbara; James saves Margo. 1987 Tom heads to DC to start the crime commission, leaving Margo alone. Tom and Margo's second separation (it will last the entire year). Convinced her marriage is over, Margo gets involved with Hal. Tom returns to Oakdale as Scott Holmes takes over the role. Tom fights to win his wife back from Hal. Tom has his first case as DA: he prosecutes Barbara for murder, at Christmas, Margo ends her six month affair with Hal. 1988 Tom and Margo reunite. Tom's Vietnamese daughter Lien arrives on his doorstep. Margo finds out she is pregnant with Hal's child, runs to Greece. Tom and Margo's third separation. Tom dates Shannon O'Hara, but can't forget Margo. Adam Christopher Harold Hughes is born; Tom and Margo reunite. Tom and Margo lie to his family and their friends that Adam is Tom's son. 1989 Hal learns the truth about Adam (from Margo). In mid-December, Ellen Dolan takes over the role of Margo. 1990 Margo helps her stepfather, Casey Peretti, die with dignity. Margo is pregnant with Tom's child for the third time. Darryl Crawford, Margo's high school beau, moves to Oakdale. 1991 Casey Robert Hughes is born. Darryl’s wife, Carolyn, is murdered. Tom prosecutes Caleb Snyder while Margo works to clear him. 1992 The Carolyn Crawford mystery continues. Tom meets his brother, Scott Eldridge. Margo is raped by an HIV+ convict. 1993 Margo gets her final HIV test results. Glynnis O'Connor takes over as Margo. Tom faces charges for killing Margo's rapist, Elroy Nevins. Nevin's victim Dawn Wheeler moves in and falls for Tom. 1994 Margo goes to DC to work with the crime commission. Tom discovers Dawn's feelings for him. Margo returns as Ellen Dolan resumes the role. 1995 Dawn dies of AIDS; Tom & Margo take in her teenage son, Jeremy. Lisa sues John for malpractice testing family loyalties. 1996 Margo has her first bout with PTS following a plane crash. Tom takes on a group of white supremacists in Oakdale. Casey is kidnapped. Hal demands that Adam be told the truth about his paternity. Margo's Post Traumatic Stress returns at the end of the year. 1997 Margo is a prime suspect in Diego's murder, is arrested for it. Margo is institutionalized for the PTS. Tom is forced to step down as district attorney; returns to private practice. Tom and Margo experience some marital discord, but resolve their problems. 1998 Tom has, a mid-life crisis, quits the law. Margo kills Eddie's mother, takes Eddie under her wing. Margo is pregnant by Tom for the fourth time; loses the baby for a third time. Tom has a one-night stand with Emily, gets her pregnant. 1999 Tom searches for Emily, later defends her on murder charges. Daniel Stewart Hughes, Tom's son with Emily, is born. Margo gets involved with Alec Wallace. Margo is convicted of Alec's murder. 2000 Margo is cleared of Alec's murder. Tom & Margo reunite and renew their wedding vows.
  25. Unfortunately I do believe John and Lisa's last major stories was the Parker story there in late '98 and early '99. Lisa was vying for John's affections and made a drunken spectacle of herself trying to stop John and Carly's wedding Thanksgiving 1998. I remember John vowing to get married to Lisa by the end of 2000 but their reconciliation/relationship was aborted and dropped. I always loved John and Lucinda and still loved they interacted throughout the 90's but overall their other romances generally flopped badly (Iva and Barbara for John, Eduardo, Martin, and James for Lucinda; we even had a hot-tub scene for James and Lucinda!)
