  1. Each time I look them up I am finding more and more gems there on Youtube in regards to ATWT and GL it's becoming astounding. I think Marcy did but she still had a huge crush on him and from what I've seen so far was was Elaine Princi's Miranda walking in the middle on Marcy(Thompson, not Breen) basically pouncing on Bob and with Miranda calling it quits to leave town with an ex fiance who of hers who was visiting her. Zsa Zsa would have been proud.
  2. So for something completely different I've tried watching what I have of the Bob/Marcy story but it is so embarrassingly bad but somehow funny in a cosmic, quirky sort of way. It reminds me a lot of Roger Moore and Lynn Holly Johnson in the 007 flick For Your Eyes Only which their scenes were meant for comedy. I think Bob and Marcy were meant for comedy but someone on the writing team at the same time took them too seriously.
  3. Holden and Lily on ATWT were such an oddity to me because they were presented as the show's hot young supercouple but to me it was a definite no! Always felt Lily did better off with her non-Holden men while Holden always came off as an unwashed dolt. Some folks think that Rattray did a good job early on being a colder Lily but once that facade ended she seemed to try to act more and more like Bryne's Lily and just came across to me as absolutely dreadful. Only Bryne could have gotten away with the amount of whining that HR's Lily was doing by the end of 1992. Having MB back with a sexy husband ready in 1993 was even more of a refreshing change for Lily so I indeed rooted for Lily and Damien. The show never allowed for Lily to grow up and while the Holden/Lily/Damian triangle won out we had to endure the latter end of the gaslight mess and then once Damian and Lily are finally allowed to be happy Damian dies. Lily seeks revenge for Damian's death for the next entire year and just about gets it when Holden pops into her life again and despite a lot of secrets and deception they reunite. Oh Damian is actually alive btw but since he's a Buddhist monk now he happily let's Lily go. What a clusterfuck! Even Y&R did a better tale of explaining Danny/Christine/Paul. It seemed like a giant waste of four years and even more insulting that Damian later was painted as the villain for some asinine insipid stories the show attempted to tell in its final years. I'm still not sure if it was Paolo Seganti's decision to leave or not but at least they could have had Lily mature into something like a Victoria Newman or Sami Brady at the least for ATWT as opposed to still being the same ingenue for just about all of her 1993-2008 tenure. I think MB could have been capable enough but the show never went for it.
  4. As promised like a month ago, here is the yearly summary for 1973. Just FYI a few details may be incorrect on it, but enough to showcase what went on that first year: Fantasies of starting over with a completely new life are rarely fulfilled, but Dr. Brad Eliot was swept into his without forethought. Distraught because the son of his fiancee, Barbara Anderson, died while he was operating on him, Brad Eliot walked away from his medical practice as a psychiatrist and neurosurgeon. Brad was actually the boy's father. As he left Chicago, circumstances went from bad to worse when his car and wallet were stolen. In a haze, he wandered into Genoa City with nothing more than the dirty clothes on his back. Then, after enjoying a meal at Pierre's restaurant, he had to admit he couldn't pay the tab. That's when Brad's luck actually changed for the better. Stuart Brooks, the owner/publisher of The Genoa City Chronicle, overheard Brad's conversation with waitress Sally McGuire. Trusting his instincts that this was no ordinary panhandler, Stuart gave him a job. Fate continued to nudge Brad into a new life when he saw a news wire story declaring that Dr. Brad Eliot had been killed in a car accident. Clearly, the thief who stole his car and wallet had been killed and mistakenly identified, giving the real Dr. Eliot an opportunity to start his life over. Stuart Brooks and his wife Jennifer had four daughters: Leslie, a rather shy pianist; Lauralee, called Lorie, an adventurous author; Chris, a journalist; and Peggy, a college student. Although Brad clearly chose to keep his past a mystery, he proved himself likable, helpful and basically honest. It was easy for Stuart to encourage a budding relationship between Leslie and Brad. Before Brad came into her life, Leslie was totally absorbed in her music. She never dated and was far more comfortable at her piano than with men. But she was drawn to Brad and fell in love with him as he supported and encouraged her career, which took off beautifully. For the first time in her life, Leslie found the promise of happiness professionally and personally. While Stuart approved of Brad's interest in Leslie, he was not thrilled when local medical student Snapper Foster (William Foster Jr.) caught the eye of his trusting daughter, Chris. Stuart was less offended by Snapper's blue-collar roots than by his indifference to Chris. (Snapper was so-named due to his tendency toward irritability and to "snap" at people.) Handsome Snapper was not only putting himself through medical school, but being "man of the family" after his dad deserted them seven years earlier. The eldest son, Snapper was helping his mom Liz, a factory worker, put his brother Greg through law school and keeping a big-brother eye on his sister Jill who dreamed of being a fashion model while working as a beautician. Liz wished the best for all her children and encouraged Snapper to pursue a nice, well-bred girl like Chris. However, with enough obligations already, Snapper preferred to keep his freedom. Snapper was also seeing Sally McGuire, a waitress at Pierre's. One evening, Chris invited Snapper to the Brooks home for dinner but he didn't show. After a day at school and work he had visited Sally, fell asleep and she conveniently forgot to wake him as he had asked. His half-truth--that he fell asleep after a full day--satisfied Chris enough to get her through the hurt of disappointment. Her dad, however, grew more displeased with Snapper. When Stuart learned that Snapper was seeing Sally, he was quick to tell Chris that Snapper was cheating on her. Chris moved out and went to work as a secretary for Greg Foster, unaware that her dad had financially helped his new law practice in return for her employment. When she found out, she angrily quit. Greg was especially saddened because he had fallen in love with Chris. One evening after an unsuccessful day of job hunting, Chris stopped by a local bar and met George Curtis who bought her a drink, seemed pleasant enough, and offered to escort her safely home. Once there, however, he raped her. Jill was unhappy working at the salon, but wouldn't take Snapper's advice about going to college to broaden her chances for a career that would bring her the lifestyle she dreamed about. Instead, she won the trust of a rich, powerful and temperamental customer, Kay Chancellor. When Kay, an alcoholic, fired her personal secretary, Jill took the opportunity to enter the world she dreamed about. She convinced Kay to hire her.
  5. Thanks for sharing its funny as I thought at the time that Y&R was going to have a good 2006 but by June of that year Victor started having seizures, Nazi's became involved, and there was a very dramatic business scene with Victoria scene walking out of NE in angst and both my mother and grandmother saying "the old Victoria would have been better for this!" I did like Daniel and Lily as couple actually. While Davetta Sherwood will remain the best Lily for myself personally at least CK Lily and Graz Daniel proved they still had in Chemistry when Daniel and Lily hooked up again in 2011 and the runaway beach scenes between Daniel and Lily still stand out. Goddard and Khalil have no chemistry and have always done their best work away from each other so the decision the Cane and Lily be together has got be an act of sabotage.
  6. I believe the website was indeed SONY haha as I also saved at one point all the Restless Style covers from that site. I remember finding the site in 2007 just thanks to a random advertisement on Y&R along with visit "youngandtherestless.com" and I was huh that's new. Prior to that all CBS soap online ads always referred to the specific CBS Daytime Page and not an individual soap page like that. But compared to P&G's attempts to give GL and ATWT official webpages and "official" discussion boards in the early '00's the Y&R site did feel lot more authoritative as opposed to the P&G sites catering and caving into fan bases.

  8. Thanks for sharing @AMARIB91! Would you guys be interested in my sharing the yearly summaries I saved off of the defunct www.youngandtherestless.com site? I know there was a lot of inaccuracy on them (like saying Victor came to in 1979) and some broad generalizations but at least they gave you an general idea of the main storylines for that year and even touched on minor details like Andy Richards' ex wife Karen.
  9. Lester's Jack could indeed be downright NASTY as opposed to Bergman's Jack's just being simply smug and smarmy. It's the same Jack that had torrid affairs (Diane, Jill, Nikki). blackmailed Ashley, and was the brains behind writing Ruthless. I could just imagine TL's Jack having a some type of dark comic line as he step's over Victor having a heart attack in '92 or his Jack even going so far as to flirt with Hope just to piss Victor off. As much as I love Brenda Epperson to say this but could you imagine the hell that would have happened if TL's Jack wed Nikki out of revenge for Newman taking over Jabot while Victor got the chance to marry ED's Ashley? Seeing Lester and Jess is a lot fun! PB & JW had a lot of memorable moments in late 1997/early 1998 when they were being tested/teased and I can't remember if Jack and Jill actually had a one night stand together or not ( @DeeeDee help me out!) other than Jill just causally walking into Jack's office asking for sex while Jack was interested but hesitated and the two recounted the entire history between the two of them from the cabin in 1983 straight to Victor's shooting in '96.
  10. I have to wonder what if Terry Lester had never left Y&R. I'd figure the '90s rivalry between Victor and Lester's Jack would have been very equal or maybe it would have been more of a friendly rivalry with tons of memorable sarcasm more akin to Sally and Stephanie on B&B. Sure Lester spoke up on Cricket dominating the show, but given he was so universally panned on Santa Barbara as Lane Davies' replacement that he was quickly replaced with Dynasty's Gordon Thompson and then ended up as the memorable but quickly forgotten Royce on ATWT I have to wonder if Lester should have spoken out against Y&R. Ideally I suppose we would have seen Lester and Braeden gone toe to toe on equal footing and given Lester passed away in 2003 the show would have probably let Jack Abbott die leading not only Victor to eulogize his old arch nemesis but play against type as well.
  11. Thanks for sharing the 1989 eps! The Jack & Jill office scenes were hilarious and so was the Lauren/Joanna interaction. I didn't realize Chase and Lauren had ever gone on a date. The Jessica humiliation seemed rather awkward but was very sad as reality as late '80s AIDS hysteria was at its peak. Even sadder in retrospect was John talking to Terry Lester's Jack about it. Purse swinging Brittany was just another notch in Jack's belt and after that isolated to the George Rawlins mystery. She was in real life later married to rock star Chris Squire and I believe she reappeared as the pesky socialite Agnes that irked Nikki and Sharon in 2003. Chase could have been easily kept around but he was replaced by Ryan.
  12. I think if Keith Dennison had been a played by much better actor the Dennison's probably would have stuck around longer. That and if Tricia had remained a Phyllis or Leanna Love type of crazy as opposed to Veronica Landers type of crazy. Kurt lived at the Chancellor mansion too lol.
  13. BTW here's the weekly recap of Y&R for December 16th-20th 1996 that appeared in Candace Havens' Soap Talk: THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS Danny moved in with Phyllis. Nina arrived at Cole's house, where she saw him in bed with Victoria. Ashley wanted to help Kurt. He didn't want her help. Neil put his foot down about Dru's modeling endeavors. Nina and Ryan slept together, but Nina regretted it. Victor asked Kurt to stay at Victor's place and keep an eye on Hope and Victor Jr. while Victor was out of town. Nina was fired. Victor told Jack that there was no way Jack would acquire the new business, but Jack refused to give up. Ryan got a big break in his career that required him to leave Genoa City, but Nina didn't want to go with him.
  14. Thanks for sharing that 1996 episode btw! That Ryan and Cole fight opening was hilarious! Can't believe that jerk Ryan overreacted that way about Cole and Nina while all the while he was enjoying stolen kisses from Victoria. IIRC @YRfan23 and @DRW50 Hope came back to Genoa City after Cliff died and largely enjoyed Victor's companionship but didn't want to get close to him again in spite that fact she still love him. She later on developed feelings for Kurt Costner and the two dated after Kurt and Ashley broke up. All the while she remained close with Victor and had even made the decision to finally tell the young Victor Jr/Adam that Victor was his father but when she learned that Victor had married Diane without telling her first she decided against as she felt it was a major betrayal to their friendship. She decided to go back to Kansas and ask to Kurt to join her which he agreed too and I believe Kurt and Hope made their final appearance on the August 22, 1997 episode leaving town together. I don't know if it was Coleman's choice to leave or not but it would have been nice if better storylines had been developed for Hope to stick around town and at least Coleman would been spared from GL the following year(Coleman if I recall right said she was lied when she straight out asked if her Terri character was going be an Annie recast). John and Jill at this point I don't think were married but just living together or just still married for the sake of raising Billy together. Jill was sleeping around with John Silva and connecting with Keith Dennison at the same time and almost skipped Christmas with the Abbotts to go on a ski trip with John Silva but decided to stay with Billy at the last moment. After Christmas I believed Jill moved out of the Abbott mansion permanently and by February was dating Keith and meeting Tricia and Megan for the first time during a lousy dinner. In the same token it was March or so that John Abbott took off with Billy to NYC to live with Traci and stayed there for most of '97. The show was in a very transitional, tired period after the explosive summer of '96 ended and it wouldn't be until May that the show regained momentum. I think the biggest story to occur was probably the traumatic birth of Noah even that was dragged out over a LONG period of time.
  15. Interestingly the Christmas 1995 episode used the same music from the NYE 1993 closing credits. I actually watched the 12/24/93 episode closing credits and no special Christmas music at all, just the regular credits:
  16. Wasn't hiring Zsa Zsa ATWT's response to Elizabeth Taylor showing up on GH(or was it AMC?)?
  17. BTW why was Derek Thurston invited to Victor and Nikki's wedding? I don't even know if Victor and Nikki knew him well at all, and certainly wouldn't have been a guest especially after Douglas challenged Derek to a duel!
  18. I so just wanted to hear Brenda Dickson's Jill to tell Nina to "sashay away"....
  19. And stopped referencing history too the episode had a scene with Susan and Ellen talking about Susan and Larry possibly moving to a house in Ruxton Hills and Ellen saying doesn't Emily have bad memories of Ruxton Hills?
  20. Will definitely hit you up Carl! Hope you've been enjoying the plethora of ATWT episodes on youtube I've been on a binge of lately! Was actually watching Lauren's 21st birthday clips from 1984 and it's some great fun. The most understated yet so prominent scenes was there was so much animosity between Jazz and Tyrone being in the same room at the party yet their sibling relationship or rivalry wasn't touched it seems as Tyrone ended up doing whiteface while Jazz did nothing. Certainly Bell had setup a Tyrone/Amy/Jazz triangle but it went nowhere it seems, even as Bell went so far to make Tryone a white collar worker and Jazz more blue collar but still nothing happened.
  21. Funny you just happened to mention that...I was watching a July 1994 episode today and Monica appeared to win a seat on the Walsh Enterprises board to help with Conor and I was like what she still doing in town?
  22. Does anyone have clips of the opening and closing with Alison Steele announcing the show there in late '81 and early '82? I know there was one on Youtube a couple years ago her voice was pleasing to hear I wish she announced other soaps at the time as well. By the way after rewatching the Murder She Wrote episode "Murder in the Afternoon" I'm convinced it was written by an angry SFT fan.
  23. So I've been rewatching a lot of summer 1991 lately and just have to say: -I'm sorry Donna didn't get full revenge on Stacey, but at least it was enough to drive Stacey out of town. Unfortunately she'd end up coming over to Springfield the next year. I hadn't been a fan of Michael since late 1989 so I was happy to see him on the losing end too even if Donna didn't entirely get her way. -It was amazing to see Tom Eplin and Judi Evans have instant chemistry. The 7/22/91 episode where Jake tried to propose to Paulina in front of Rachel, Sam, Amanda, and Jamie was hilarious. -Speaking of which, Amanda/Sam 3.0/Olivia was tiresome and by September Dennis Wheeler had been thrown into the mix for heaven knows why. At least we had Carl stalking Amanda which made it somewhat interesting. -I skip over a lot of the Taylor Benson mess as I didn't like the conclusion of the story-line at all. Same with Cass/Kathleen getting jealous of Frankie/Ryan. Really? -Iris is so criminally underused and underdeveloped it's sad but at least Carmen Duncan can save the day on that.
  24. It's interesting to see that too. The Corringtons were having a success at the time too with SFT and it shows. Meanwhile ATWT and the NBC soaps were sinking pretty fast. Y&R would sputter in the ratings for a while after this with the show's expansion to an hour and time slot change plus the show being in a big transitional phase. The 1980-1981 lineup for CBS did damage to Y&R, ATWT, and SFT as they faced onslaught from ABC's domination.
  25. Thanks that's wonderful to see some hard data like that! I had wondered about that after seeing Y&R at #2 one week so close to #1AW in 1975 but would have not expected it to have been the infamous 1979 but I should have known since Y&R's dime novels in the late '80s featured the Suzanne Lynch story. Unfortunately other than reading the dime novels and listening to audio recordings I have yet to visually see some of those stories, although I'd LOVE to see the scene where an alive and Katherine smashed into the terrace in front of a terrified Jill during a thunderstorm.
