  1. Agreed, and that when I first discovered it out of curiosity characters like Ava, Egypt, and Shana fascinated me, so different that the CBS heroines I was use to. Trisha's exit was weird, dead but not dead and then ran off with Jeff Hartman to Rome while amnesiac, plus the appearance of the back of her the following year before Trisha returned in person in Loving's final weeks. The other weird thing that struck me as odd to no end was Jack's disappearance around the time I first tuned in. Jack is presumed drowned - he fell off the boat on the honeymoon for his second marriage to Stacey. A body was found, but Clay identified it and Jeremy later proved it was NOT Jack. Clay identified it because he wanted to marry Stacey and drive her crazy so that he would own controlling interest in Alden Enterprises....so that he could destroy it. Stacey pined for Jack when it first happened and was so vulnerable to Clay's advances. Nothing more was brought up again about really happened to Jack.
  2. This is something I have never understood is how ABC let a show they owned get pre-empted so much in the entire county. Even though I know the show aired against Y&R just could never figure out why so many local affiliates couldn't be bothered to run 30 mins of programming for any off ABC's 30-minute soaps, no wonder the networks started forcing stuff once the wide majority of affiliates had really seen their power diminish in the last 20 years.
  3. Lol you know some future writers would probably have loved to keep him around as another misogynistic shirtless male character. Actually, when Matt and Tricia drove off that cliff together I thought it would have a chilling, powerful denouement if both died but Y&R wasn’t that ballsy enough.
  4. Four years after Nina shot herself in front of Ryan & Tricia, Ryan had it coming in the long haul.
  5. Love this! Probably my favorite classic dramatic Y&R musical score will always be be this one tbh, I seem to recall in the 90’s it was always played on Friday’s LOL
  6. Great find, thanks for sharing @FrenchFan!! I’ve read some much of the Nathan & Amy story so it was really nice to watch this. And LOL to Katherine & Esther setting up the slideshow presentation. I assume this was the prelude to the infamous scenes of Jill inducing herself to vomit to get out her and John out of dinner and “winter vacation” slides with Katherine laughing wickedly on. Was he playing David around the time Jill was shot? If so I think have seen Pillsbury before, thanks for sharing! It’s funny Bell established David as a complete sleazeball by 1987, but I wonder if anyone ever anticipated his darker turn he’d take 1989-91. Took bad it was the 80s otherwise David would been Jill’s gay best friend.
  7. Don’t forget the actor Nathanael Marston who played Eddie savagely destroyed an ATM machine while drunk on New Year’s Eve. He later made headlines when he involved in a similar incident years later when working on an ABC soap. Unfortunately he passed away several years ago. OMG!!! 😵
  8. Lol I’m going to safely say that Liam & Fallon’s wedding is going to be in Moldavia whenever it occurs. I just can’t with this show.
  9. There was some tension but it usually centered around a select few, Colleen being one of them stretching all the way back to back her notorious feud with Jacqueline Schultz which ran off a young Ariane Muenker/Ariana Chase from the show. The only other big behind the scenes scandal I can think of for ATWT during its later years was Eileen Fulton's feud with TPTB and of course a very married Austin Peck and a very married Terri Colombino involved in a very torrid affair that got Peck fired.
  10. There was a 1974 episode that popped up one time featuring the first time Jill and Katherine met, and it had John Considine(probably more famous for Reginald Love on AW) as Phillip in it. Aside from that only flashback clips have surfaced from time to time.
  11. Technically it should have been Phillip IV/Chance who should have been slight SOARSed in ‘99 as he already was hitting his teen years. Billy and Nick should have been the two SOARSings that happened later on TBH.
  12. Thanks! I had thought that was the case but wasn’t confident it about it. That and there was so many close calls over the years of just when you thought they’d get back together, Nikki gets pregnant, Victor is in love with Hope, Nikki having a secret affair with Brad etc yet the two were always jealous and protective of each other... with Nikki taunting Christine in the aftermath of Victor’s shooting to Victor taunting Josh Landers that he knew of Josh’s history and what happened to Veronica. It was fun stuff and really kept the Victor/Nikki relationship alive through the 90’s.
  13. I think you’re right, it was from the 1988 divorce and of course Victor moved into a penthouse in town and lived there for several years. I’m not quite sure when Victor moved back to the ranch though.
  14. That's shame! I also forgot how chilly Jill was to Dru as well in those early years, I miss the days of when Y&R always did the classism theme so well.
  15. That was such a nice ep I just watched it, figured it had to be from earlier in 1992. What was wrong with Victor? Loved the sinister music that played when Michael kissed Christine LOL.
  16. Oh goodness it was so lovely to have both Drucillia and Epperson’s Ashley on screen again!
  17. I know right. I'll actually be alright given I just realized I can watch it on the Youtube TV App on my phone but it would be nice to save for later on the big screen lol.
  18. I think you're right as I think the movie Body Heat came out the year before, what a difference their careers took. I'm guessing it would have been someone Pam would have known, wonder if Harley Kozak was considered? I remember Josh and Cassie being teased for just about most of 1998. It started with the clone story and then later on with Annie drugging Josh but given the nature of their storyline orbits it would never would have worked at all.
  19. I loved this! I love it that a tipsy Zimmer spills so much tea I think she needs to write a follow-up book! Zimmer was not the original choice for Reva though? Who was then, Kathleen Turner?
  20. Anyone know how to record it on Youtube TV? My DVR only records new episodes, I might miss out on it tomorrow and I know CBS is too pitiful to even save it for All Access later.
  21. Agreed! To be fair though the real highlight of the episode watching it this time around was that scene where Katherine greets John & Jill. Dickson really shines in that moment, cowering behind John, having an irritated expression, and looking away/not making eye contact, and acting surprised when spoken to. Even if it was just 30 seconds you could feel the hate so much!
  22. That's interesting! I think I remember now reading she had done ATWT in the past but couldn't even remember when. I do recall the first time I watched the episode here Dorothy Connors confessed to killing Whit McColl I watched the credits and was like "who the heck are these people writing the show?!" as almost none of the credited names in that era rang an immediate bell. Klein was responsible for bringing Damien back and then having him remain as a monk correct while having Emily erase all the evidence of Kirk's involvement in Diego's murder right? Yeah no wonder she didn't last long.
  23. They show became totally became Trash TV, and not even in an entertaining way at all. The one I example I always use from the this era was Jessica being stalked by white supremacists who planted a car bomb in what they thought was either Jessica or Tom's car, but turned out to be Kim's car and it exploded with Kim in the car on the one year anniversary of the OKC bombing. That always and they always showed Mark and Connor having romp in their treehouse in juxtaposition of certain events, even in the aftermath of Emily's rape by Diego. Diego was believable as a sexy bad boy but throw in most wanted international terrorist was so stretched out and not even a good idea and then get killed by Kirk who framed Lily and Margo for murder which was wayyyy out character for Kirk. The highlights out of these years though was always the acting and the cast themselves, otherwise I do believe ATWT would have totally collapsed without a stable, loyal talented cast. That and the show gained both Ben and Molly; we hated them at first but fell in love with them later, while Carly's return and her schemes were really fun in comparison to the dreary Teague story or anything Andy was given before his 2000 exit.
  24. Day ??? of Self-isolation and quarantine, finished 1994 and 1995, was wondering if I should move ahead to 1996 and 1997 or just skip to the best parts? I was so disappointed when the wheels fell off the Demorest/Walsh tenure but I suppose between FMB and the arrival of the MADD one there was a lot of interference during that time. Bringing back Stenbeck and then hiring a writer from 90210 to write the show, they were completely clueless on how to run ATWT weren't they?
  25. Lol I remember when Y&R reaired that 1984 wedding ep back in on NYE 2016 it still garnered a 2.5 even though it didn’t count lol.
