Y&R to air classic episodes
Thanks!! I remember the WOST website had the whole week posted when that site was running but that was like 15 years ago so I know I was a little confused. I wouldn’t mind seeing a seeing a couple post 2003 episodes again but the more pre-2003 episodes the better. I’ll be slightly annoyed if Michael and Lauren’s wedding ep gets reaired for the 18th time lol.

Y&R to air classic episodes
I knew you would be excited! My only concern is that the episodes will be heavily edited for current time/commercial standards. I recall when Y&R aired the Victor/Nikki wedding on NYE a few years back they cut the Jack & Patty scenes out.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
That would be have be fun!! The show did good nabbing Miriam Colon for the role of the twisted matriarch, although I did hate what went down with Selena’s exit. Thank god the lost Santos brother never resurfaced as planned. About the only story from 2001 I remember liking was the Billy/Holly/Buzz triangle which was rather fun when they were actually on and Alan dumping Claire for Olivia.

Lol really? I just can’t figure out why they keep replying to messages I posted 10+ years ago.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Oh gosh 2001 was such a mess of a year for GL. 48% of it was awful Santos family melee, 48% of it was horrific San Cristobel drivel, and the other 2% was focused on hogwash such as Rick/Harley/Phillip and Romeo Jones. What was so funny is Rauch touted Gold as “not hack who has been on 18 different shows” even though Gold had previously actually worked with Rauch on both AW and OLTL.

Soap Hoppers: The Soap Actors And Roles Thread
Gotcha, I couldn't even find her casting notated in my '90's documents anywhere at all, which is bad since I have a well documented compilation of GL cast from 1992-1998 document although I know its not entirely accurate or exact. Anyone know who for sure who she was on Loving? Her IMDB lists a whopping 837 episodes lol.

Lol I'm still trying to figure out her last two roles on Loving and GL, I have who the heck those characters are even if they're supporting!

Soap Actors Famous Relatives
I remember the day ATWT was cancelled Les Moonves was being interviewed by Faber, Faber asked Moonves about it and Moonves made some very crass remarks about ATWT to Faber. I had to wonder if Moonves even knew that Masters was his mother-in-law.

Loving/The City Discussion Thread
I know this is several months late, but thank you so much for sharing @dc11786!!!! I remember enjoying what I saw of Loving there in the early 90s. Lol I remember poor Jeff to give him *some* credit, he did try to call the family to tell them Trisha was alive, but nobody was home to answer the phone! The next time we saw Jeff was when Shana and Leo moved to Rome, except all we saw of Trisha at that point was just her backside. I enjoyed Ava, Egypt(played by the very underrated soap hopper Linda Cook), Shana, and Dinahlee, a nice batch of leading ladies well suited for a quirky little soap. As for Ally/Casey/Stephanie/Cooper, if I recall right Ally and Casey fell madly in love with each other and became the show's "supercouple". Ally and Cooper spent the night together (once) when they went to New York (Ally to see Carley and Cooper to surprise Hannah). Cooper was the one that was surprised, when he saw Hannah, getting out from the shower at her piano tutor's house, thanking the tutor for "last night" and how it was as wonderful as he said it would be. Cooper, of course, thought sex, and never let Hannah explain that she was talking about a piano duet.) Hurt and feeling betrayed, Cooper turned to Ally, who herself felt betrayed by Casey. So the two slept together. Ally got pregnant. Ally was worried about money and stuff. The three got together and agreed that Ally and Cooper would get married so the baby would have health coverage during delivery and would get a trust fund. Then Cooper and Ally would get divorced. So, Ally and Cooper got married just before the baby was born. Casey ended up being with Ally when the baby was delivered, which was good since he had been to all of the Lamaze classes with Ally. Cooper fell in love with Ally but Ally didn't really love Cooper, as she still was in love with Casey. Cooper was being very manipulative, and I don't care for him much. He arranged with his Aunt Isabel for her to "disown" him. He followed Ally when she moved out of the mansion. He hasn't really lost his trust fund, and Tyler will always have money. He is now using this incident with Tyler to guilt Ally into staying with him. Casey found out, and Cooper, through the goodness of his heart, finally gave up on Ally. Casey and Ally then married.

Soap Actors Famous Relatives
Vana Tribbey (Alice Matthews Frame #4) was married to M*A*S*H actor Larry Linville in the late '70s and early '80s. John Clarke's(Mickey, Days) daughter is Melinda Clarke(The O.C., Nikita remake, Dallas revival, also played Faith on Days back in the day. ) Juliet Mills (Tabitha, Passions) is the sister of Hayley Mills. Jeffrey Byron (had recurring roles on PC, Y&R, and B&B in the late '90s is the son of Anna Lee. Spencer Grammer (horrible Lucy recast on ATWT in 2006) is the daughter of Kelsey Grammer. Vanessa Marcil was married to Corey Feldman. Joseph Breen (Scott ATWT) is Johnny Cash's step-son in law. Lol I remember for the longest there was a misconception spread that Allyson Rice-Taylor was married to Duran Duran's Andy Taylor but her husband was simply a different Andy Taylor.

Y&R: Old Articles
Actually, he did, given he gave into temptation with Sheila in the first place. Scott was always going to be #3 for Lauren after Paul and Brad of course, and the fact she was pretty much trapped into a loveless marriage with Scott just to gain some of custody for her biological son I just had to feel for Lauren being stuck with some fake goody two shoes guy who was wrong for her. It was an interesting twist Bell did for the story, whereas most other soaps would have had Scott and Lauren happily reunite like nothing happened until their next speed bump whereas Lauren had completely moved on. I absolutely adorned AD's Diane from in 1997-99, she had such a regal presence that remains unmatched.

Y&R: Old Articles
I forgot to address the Brad equation @ironlion @YRfan23 haha weren't Victoria and Nikki interested in him at the same time in the fall of 1999? It made sense that Nikki was interested when he came back since he had left town right after their aborted 1996 wedding and had been accused of shooting Victor. HT Victoria was actually intriguing with Brad, I wonder if Thudley had that in mind when he paired Bill and Katie on B&B a decade later.

Y&R: Old Articles
I always kind of felt bad for Diane, who got the short end of the stick there towards the end of '97 and early '98. A very married Nikki telling Victor to get a vasectomy when both Nick and Victoria had happily accepted Diane and even Jack gave them his blessing and was sympathetic enough to give Victor marital advice(!) yet Diane was later thrown under the bus for being the crazy one. Also felt bad for Hope, who was written as being so repulsed by Victor & Diane's marriage that she won her battle with Ashley and dragged Kurt Costner back with her to Kansas so she wouldn't go back alone. Not one of Y&R's finest moments @YRfan23 Susan Walters just wasn't Donnelly, but I did like Diane vs. Phyllis as well during the arson and later Kyle custody story. Unfortunately after Diane bailed out Jabot in 2003/04 with her divorce settlement money from Victor she just fizzled out. Thanks a lot Jack Smith! Goodness @BoldRestless Thank you! Both you and @YRfan23 are always a real blessing!!!!

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I was wondering about this recently re-watching late 1992 and after @DRW50 mentioned something in another thread was there serious discussion about recasting Frannie Hughes in 1993? I could imagine the show trying to recast with an actress around Martha Bryne's age returning to have a whirlwind romance or flind with either Peter Cabot or some Grimaldi cousin/brother before landing in bed with Scott Elridge, Diego Santana, and David Stenbeck shipping Frannie off for good by early 1999 lol.

Indeed. Cricket was a recurring character at that point, her first story was in the summer of ‘86. Cricket’s best friend Molly(played by the girl from Honey I Shrunk The Kids) got knocked up and didn’t know what to do, so Cricket got Danny, Traci, and Lauren to do some massive 1980’s PSA style benefit concert where Molly and her mother(if I recall right played by some C-List actress from the 1970’s) had a kumbaya moment of understanding. It was a sickening saccharine hot mess, but in all the sappy sweetness a backdoor pilot developed featuring the return of Rose DeVile and the introduction of Nina.

Ratings from the 80's
AW had its highs and lows throughout the 80’s it does get muddled of what worked and what didn’t work. AW always had such rich and lively characters with a stellar cast unfortunately the show’s writing and production were quite inconsistent.

Ratings from the 80's
Indeed! She ruled both Texas and GL with an iron fist and it was definitely her way on the highway. The cast were glad to see her go when she left. I wonder how Kobe was at B&B, I assume the Bell's kept her in check. Kobe's replacement Joe Willmore didn't fare better, as by 1989 the once mild-manned exec allegedly had become "emotionally unmoored" so to speak i.e. throwing a chair across the set, experiencing stress-induced vomiting in the middle of a negotiation meeting between him, Long, and Zimmer etc. The summer of 1986 had Cecile's return and kidnapping Cass story as the highlight, which was a big hit for AW. It wasn't til the fall when AW sputtered out again with the above departures.

Ratings for the show this year have been deep in the crapper. It’s averaging less than 400K viewers and Netflix is now waiting to drop all the episodes at the end of the season instead of the day after airing.

Haha ho boy that Jade recast was bad. I remember the Lucy recast at least did better in the role than Kelsey Grammer’s daughter did. Part of the problem was by this point of the series there was any long-term story anymore, just month long arcs aka “villain of the month” as we called it where characters just popped in and out on a whim I.e. Mike Kasnoff popped back into town for a brief story, Alison visits Chris but then Aaron randomly pops in for a short visit, Oakdale gets boring so here comes Ric Decker and/ Stenbeck to terrorize Oakdale for a couple weeks etc.
