Guiding Light Discussion Thread
You're probably right, but like the Parlato bait and switch I could so believe Rauch & Co. lying to Coleman in her face about not being an Annie recast after she inquired if she was. Didn't Coleman's Annie leave town with Tom Wiggin's character after her oddball plot to kidnap and become Lizzie's mother went up in smoke? It was such a weird ending all the while the San Cristobel story was ramping up they made it the C-story of the week.

Y&R to air classic episodes
Miller was great on his first year on the show or so; once he was up for "intense contract negotiations" every fall he became an increasing lazy diva, at least on Y&R because his primetime gigs showed he could do much better. And the show catering to Heinle to fire David Tom? Notice she's never opened her mouth up since lol.

Y&R to air classic episodes
So did I, they were just disposed of so quickly once we got the “second coming” of Bill & Mac.

Y&R to air classic episodes
I believe Billy & Chloe were initially popular because they were the anti-Cane & Lily. MAB felt the need to “correct” Billy & Mac when she had the opportunity. However once the show began writing Chloe as the “victim” in her marriage and later on in the Chance/Chloe/Ronan/Heather quad from hell it was over for the character.

Y&R to air classic episodes
Nah when Jack Smith got promoted to co-EP/co-HW in 2002 he made some pretty reckless creative decisions for shock value and some desperate attempt to gain ratings again after an exodus of cast members in late ‘01/early ‘02.

Y&R to air classic episodes
They were a fabulous set of episodes. I think the biggest downfall was the flimsy buildup to it though. Jill bought /rearranged some furniture which was the trigger point for Katherine. It was a pretty weak excuse, and later got even less than exuberant with the mess involving Arthur, his stepson, and then Michael Nouri’s character that I can’t even think of his name lol. About average these days, and very telling that many people tuned in to watch something from 1991. To

@YRfan23 During Y&R’s 35th anniversary week in 2008, while everyone was busy listening to Danny sing for the Restless Style opening Katherine was giving Amber her entire history with Jill in preparation for her book and they showed the above flashback!! I have always wanted to see that episode but find it sad it’s never resurfaced nor has anything from the 35th anniversary week reaired, lol I remember people calling it lame but I enjoyed it right thoroughly.

The weird thing is Liz was the one who convinced Phillip to come home after Jill had been shot. I guess they could have had Liz move in with Jill for that story wonder if that would have workable for that story. By 1991 though we weirdly had Jill and Katherine using each other as sounding boards in their arguments though.

Bell always came up with redemption/back don to earth stories for Jill...after Phillip died he wrote her pairing with the blind guy David, I suppose it’s what the pairings with Steve Williams(oh god, can you imagine Jill vs Mary) and Andy were all about.I think Bell loved writing for Jill just as he did for Lorie and later on Ashley as one of Y&R’s leading ladies.

Didn’t Jill fake getting pregnant with Stuart? That definitely did go too far in 1979. Imagine Ada and Rachel fighting over the same man LOL. Liz should have been a permanent fixture on the show throughout the 80s and 90’s as Jill needed that. Not sure if the clips are still up but I also loved the rapport of Adair & Cooper too, especially Adair‘a Jill being terrified.

Y&R to air classic episodes
No idea what’s up with B&B lol. Maybe because Thudley doesn’t want people to remember B&B in its prime or because perhaps Thudley can’t afford/doesn’t want to pay any residual checks out to folks he doesn’t care for. Sound about right?

Y&R to air classic episodes
You're welcome, lol I remember it was the last week of my summer vacation and Y&R had been on fire all summer long. Unfortunately after this the show fell into the doldrums until the following summer.

Nathan died on August 19, 1996. Actually technically August 16 since of course he flat-lined on a Friday.

Y&R to air classic episodes
LOL a 2014 B&B ep feels like a regular 2020 episode storyline wise.

Y&R to air classic episodes
SOD was pretty critical of the whole thing, however it remains one of Y&R most memorable and beloved climaxes . Plus you can tell how much the cast was having fun, one of those rare instances everyone in GC got to be the together on screen.

When I lived in Albuquerque my CBS station aired Y&R between B&B and GL, I got use to it but was surreal.

Loving/The City Discussion Thread
This Carl!!!! 😃 I had enjoyed Peluso on Loving and AW so much. I remember the soap mags had made it seem like Cass and Lila were coming on to ATWT permanently after AW ended, I was so disappointed that it was just for a visit during their honeymoon, and then for Cass to go on recurring for the next several years without a single mention of his wife. While I respect Peluso's career wishes, it 's shame no one else really was able to snag her really after that or convince her otherwise to stick around daytime.

He was definitely sexy on Knots and enjoyed him on Loving, it’s a shame him as Ben Warren on GL just didn’t work out for at all.
