Lol I had completely forgotten they had recast Maddie and that the Nadia actress was the 2nd Maddie last night. I remember they wrote in Maddie for a pop up visit for the holidays for Christmas 2008 and New Years before she abruptly left town again. Then in late summer Alexandra Chando returned as Maddie for a while. Not even sure what Chando has been up to after her Chuck Pratt series on ABC Family was cancelled.

The Preemption/Out of Pattern Thread
You're welcome @kalbir no worries! A lot of NBC stations aired Days in a 3PM or 4PM slot as well in the 90s, and I remember a lot of NBC stations would offer up a second repeat airing of Sunset Beach in a late night slot or later in the evening slot. I recall one NBC station aired Sunset Beach in the usually syndicated 7PM EST slot to some interesting success.

Refer back to my post on Page 2 on strange CBS 2006 listings , but from what I gathered in the late '90s there was a lot more of late afternoon airings of Y&R at either 3PM or 4PM.

Wow lol disregard my last speculation post then lol. That 4.5 is probably what got Capitol cancelled then lol.

Gotcha. It's interesting to see AW get a nice little surge/bump in early '87 as well, I assume that may be attributed to the Sin Stalker story.

B&B: Old/Classic Discussion & Articles
Haha, I remember the start of 2005; Thudley was hinting at Ridge and Bridget 2.0 when Ashley Jones took over the role; We still had Amber acting crazy, and then Sarah Buxton was brought back as Morgan when Ridge had amnesia for a split second. Nick and Bridget kept having multiple interrupted weddings and multiple miscarriages. Ashley Jones really was the first of a long line of ex-Y&R stars to join the B&B cast in the mid to late 00's. I really had enjoyed Mulcahey's work on GL and his first year at B&B proved successful. Taylor's return and the ensuring calamity around the fallout really refocused the show. Stephanie's faked heart attack with Dr. Mark McClaine finally given something interesting to do was great, and the war between Stephanie and Brooke was downright killer. Stephanie kicking Eric in the balls was classic. Megan betraying the Forresters and sleeping with Massimo was hilarious. Bringing in Lesli Kaye as Felicia was a brilliant move. B&B was definitely on fire by the close of 2005. Unfortunately in usual Thudley fashion by early 2006 the show lost its momentum and sputtered out between the Thomas & Gabriela mess, Hector and Taylor, Sally losing Spectra and being forced to work in Megan's old job as Forrester receptionist/secretary, and adding Mario Lopez and Antonio Sabàto Jr. to the cast just did the show no favors whatsoever.

Rumors of Storylines/Casting/BTS
The show did bring back Matt for a guest appearance in 2003 with the news of Albert Miller being still alive, but other than that nothing else occurred. Regarding that Patty rumor, word has it the show did reach out to Lilibert Stern, only to discover Stern had "let herself go". Andrea Evans was still in hiding and declined to reprise the role as well.

I'm guessing that May 87 corresponds to February? It'll be interesting to see how B&B does when it premieres.

Complied back in August 2006, this was a list of stations that was airing the CBS soaps and TPIR at either unusual times or completely out of order. Also included are all of the CBS stations airing GL live in the AM, as by 2006 the one day delay feed had ended in 2004. Dynasty: Discussion Thread
Very true Carl! I almost assume TPTB probably really wanted Vanessa Williams for the role but don't have the budget for it so Michael Michele is all they could afford. I don't blame her entirely though, I remember when ER cast her and then never gave her character a single interesting plot other than to just be there. LOL! It would have been nice if this Dynasty had been a continuation and could have actually utilized Joan, it probably would have been even more successful than the Dallas continuation. I remember It's the exact same issue the CW's Charmed remake not even utilizing a connection with the original Charmed and flat out making it more like a Buffy remake instead of Charmed.

Gilles' Alexis left to Europe to "find herself and fix her face with a top notch surgeon" but left Fallon with a stark warning to stay away from Adam. I think Gilles was only Alexis in like three episodes tops. Actually, I do like the actress playing the new Cristal; Daniella Alonsom has grown a lot of talent since her days on ATWT as that dreadful Pilar recast. So far I am very disappointed by Michael Michele as Dom, she is just haming it up with the awful writing. Too many of the characters are just 1-D or just have no personality whatsoever. With the Netflix international deal abruptly cut for the show, the show is going to take a hit for sure, and will have to do something better than just third-rate camp.

Thanks @VanessaReardon for this wonderful resource and your knowledge! ATWT appeared to have been such a strong contender 1983-84, what caused them to go into freefall to middle of the pack by the end of 1985? Lindsay Frost as Betsy?

I seriously doubt Bell would have moved have moved both Y&R and B&B to another network(knowing Bell's success we'd be discussing FOX Daytime!) I think Bell recognized the challenges of launching a new soap even in the late '80s he had analyzed what the odds were, especially if B&B had debuted in the Capitol slot. Not to mention both Bill himself and Lee Phillip Bell actively campaigned in every market that had preempted B&B that by 1995 even single CBS station in the US was airing B&B. Aside from dropping the 10AM game shows in 1991(Bob Goen's Wheel of Fortune lol) CBS Daytime had the exact same consistent line-up from 1987-2009 with no change.

I see what you mean! For the record, I do have the hard copy of SOD from 1998 when doing a profile of GL states specifically that GL hit #1 briefly in 1984.

So regarding these monthly 1984 ratings, what month did GL supposedly hit #1 at? Interesting to see ATWT get to #3, I'm guess that must have been Whit McColl's murder and Fulton returning as Lisa. When Bell created B&B, he pretty much made the demand that the show get aired directly aired after Y&R. I wonder if Loving would have been a lot more successful had Nixon asked for the same. As for RH, oddly enough ABC let their #1 affiliate in the nation WPVI have a separate live 11:30 AM feed for RH, perhaps if ABC had just scheduled RH at 11:30 AM ET instead of 12ET it wouldn't have been pre-empited as much.

I do hope this is just a Cristal Jennings recast and not a whole new Cristal again altogether; that would be overkill. I do remember Alonso being that god-awful Pilar recast on ATWT in 2004; hopefully like her predecessor Roselyn Sanchez (of Without a Trace and Devious Maids fame) she has achieved acting ability. The third season premiere has already been spoiled here at the link below lol, apparently the big secrect the show is holding back on at the moment is on who the new Alexis is. Hopefully S3 will be be better than S2, the Ada story was just very strange and detrimental to the show. https://www.tvshowsace.com/2019/08/09/dynasty-who-is-returning-to-cw-show-for-season-3/

Ratings from the 80's
That's good question. Interestingly enough during the Corrington era of SFT CBS had actually flirted with the idea of expanding SFT to an hour as the show was rejuvenated at the time and Bell was very against the notion Y&R going to an hour length. The Y&R and SFT relationship was interesting in this time period; SFT benefited from Y&R as a lead-in in many markets, yet Y&R benefited being sandwiched between SFT and ATWT in many other markets as since CBS didn't program the 1:00ET/12:00CT/PT time slot, many markets who wanted a Noon newscast just simply delayed Y&R for that slot. I've never been able to pinpoint who was to blame for SFT's cancellation at CBS. P&G blamed CBS and said that SFT lost ratings and fairing badly in the 2:30 slot but reality of the numbers says different. CBS blamed P&G saying P&G only wanted to SFT in the 12:30PM ET slot. Bell actually had another soap in the works as early as 1976; it was mentioned as a Y&R spinoff but whether or not this was his RAGS soap is not clear. The only winner in the situation was Bill Bell himself, mainly because Jon Conboy was now off his soap right after Conboy had threatened to fire Bell from his own soap. That makes it a lot clearer, there were a LOT of proposed soaps for CBS in the early '80's that never panned out.

The GL-GH rivalry of that era is well documented and remembered, even to a point when an episode of "Roseanne" made reference to it. It was later successes of GL and ATWT in the '90s that went highly ignored by the soap press. I mean ATWT was the 5th most watched soap 1993-1995 and later the 3rd most watched for much of 2002-2003 while GL had success in the late's 90s. Marland had the touch of versatility later writers lacked.

Y&R: Old Articles
That was pretty much it for Weaver as Gina as I believe once her relationship with Neil Fenmore was over she just simply faded as more of a background player except for her very memorable emotional reunion with Rex on Christmas Eve 1987, the Clint Radison story and later in the '90s as a talk to character for Danny. Weaver was put on contract again by the early '00s as she appeared again in the opening credits 2003-2005ish but after that went on recurring again. I don't know if it was Weaver's choice to go recurring or not, but it was weird given she had been a favorite on Bell's over Days playing Trish Clayton Banning for almost nine years before joining Y&R as Gina.

Princi is 12 years younger than Hastings, while both Sward and Gray are both 16 years younger. I think I bought some of it mainly because Hastings maintained a bit of a baby face into the 80s. The other issue the show had a natch for was actresses in their early '30's to have their character's saddled with adult children. Anne Sward's Lyla being the mother of Margo, Cricket, and Craig?? Ridiculous! They should have had Mary Linda Rapeleye play Lyla instead if that was going to be the case.
