  1. I liked that story, especially with Conci Nelson as Heather. I’m glad they had gotten back the original actress who played April. By this point I don’t think Paul even saw anything in her except as an old friend from a past long ago and the mother of his daughter as he was getting involved with Christine by this point. Malcolm and Phyllis were very close with one another as friends for a long time. I think if I remember right they did sleep with or at least made out with each other once when she was on rebound from another relationship, but nothing came of it.
  2. The Neil and Dru scenes were fun and yes them meeting with such a classic score blaring makes it even more epic! it’s really nice to see the scenes with Gina, Brock and Clint here it seems like such a forgotten story that Clint came back in early ‘91. The Brad & Cassandra stuff just sounds really bizarre, I hate this was Cassandra’s swan song story. Poor Jill.
  3. That’s interesting and I am not sure if Regina was in fact Mark’s mother but I assume she was. And I’m not entirely sure what happened to the Hendersons in the end either. I think Bruce dies later on but not about sure Mark. I know he leaves town but I’ve seen one website in the past cited he passed away from an undisclosed illness after leaving. No clue if that is fact or fiction/error. Did Gwen Sherman have any connection to Mitchell Sherman? I can’t remember if she did not, I do know she was played by Jennifer Leak, best know as crazy Olive on AW after leaving Y&R. It seemed to me a lot of early Y&R actors did AW as well.
  4. Haha it’s interesting by this point I think we had reached who was going to long lasting daytime shows although we’re just a few months away from ABC launching Ryan’s Hope. Both ABC and NBC had by this point been down the road and trying make headway against CBS in both Daytime and Primetime. ABC at least tried to give soaps like A Time For Us and A World Apart a chance before canceling them. NBC always seemed hellbent to cancel on their first instinct, hence why NBC only had 3 shows to make it past a decade. Haha don’t hate now I love Gina Tognoni but yeah it’s odd they didn’t think of such a scene the previous year for Y&R’s 40th or at very least just have Hallick play Brad again returning the favor to someone else while summarizing why he won’t go back to GC LOL.
  5. The past few years I have been impressed by CK’s maturity TBH while the show kept writing lousy things for Lily. I think that whole incident revolving around CK showing up for a an audition for her own role killed any ego she has had.
  6. One critical aspect I do enjoy is in spite of the initial backlash to Jill gaining an important Jabot leadership position was the fact Jill flourished in morning the position as opposed to falling flat on her face to the surprise of the Abbotts. AND I almost suspect a lot of Jill’s ambition was NOT to be like Katherine Chancellor.
  7. CBS’s schedule had been historically unchanged since the 50’s at this point. SFT at 12:30 since 1951, no programming in the 1:00 hour, ATWT at 1:30 etc. It made sense that ABC would air their shows at different times to allow them to achieve their own success, especially given how all NBC’s failed soaps in the 50’s served a lesson to be learned. Not to mention P&G forced CBS to moved Edge because it didn’t allow its soaps to compete against each other, a rule that would be quickly disposed of by the end of 1975 and long forgotten by 1980.
  8. Be interesting to know. I’ve read that DePriest pretty much used and coasted off of Labine’s success and material for the year that she was there, after that it was a very slippery slope downward. I find it fascinating at least that both the heroine soaps LOL and SFT had some nice revivals in the mid-70’s with LOL bringing in Tudi Wiggins as Meg and SFT bringing in Maree Cheatham as Stephanie.
  9. You got that right! Haha I almost feel as if if someone like Katherine, Jill, or later Victor were to meet Vanessa they possibly could have steamrolled over her. We saw this later on when Katherine fought with that nasty old hag Alison Bancroft. 1975 was such a banner year for Love of Life it seems they actually did quite well in the ratings too. A shame the following writers were so weak after Labine left. Chris Hughes getting used by Joyce Colman? LOL. Thanks for that schedule @FrenchFan! Interesting to note that even though Y&R at 12PM Eastern Time I’ve seen a lot of schedules from the late 70’s where stations would bump the show to that empty 1PM slot so they could air news at noontime.
  10. Wonder how he felt about the scene of John punching the living daylights out of Victor? TLW quoted MAB: https://daytimeconfidential.com/2010/04/15/tonya-lee-williams-maria-wants-to-get-the-black-storyline-up-pumping-again http://dose.ca/2010/04/10/tonya-lee-williams-discusses-her-return-young-and-restless-and-celebrates-10th-annual-reelworld/ What a mess. Right after that Tyra debacle too. They even brought on Nate to do nothing at all, while Devon dated Tatyana Ali for six years and she only appeared like five episodes a year.
  11. At least we didn’t get MAB era stuff when Malcolm was always making sandwiches while the show wanted to create a character “who was all that” and “dressed like she’s going to a fancy ball”.
  12. He never did unfortunately. It was lazy on the show’s part to have him and Olivia pair up as oppose to have Malcolm lead his own storylines. I think Michelle Thomas’s death changed the Callie story significantly. I know the show had tried to get the Winters brothers out of the rut and backfire but by the time the triangle with Alex came around is was indeed enough was enough.
  13. OMG!!! Lol I think Khalil got humbled over the years I’m sure, especially in 2012 when then associate HW Brent Boyd dropped the bombshell that a talent agency Khalil hired sent her to audition for her own as Lily!
  14. For all those who once complained about Brad taking his shirt off in the opening credits nobody complained when Ryan & Malcolm did it lol. Although his storyline at the time could have used some sprucing up. His marriage to Olivia on the rocks, wasn’t he being plotted against by Callie’s husband Trey who had a goon named Sam or something? It felt like a very late 80s Y&R story told just set in 1999 instead.
  15. They were! In fact the last time I knew that Chris & Snapper’s theme aka “Love is Gone” was played was as late as 2011. Still trips me out watching a 1993 episode with a Newman board meeting convening with the Genoa City theme playing LOL.
  16. 1999: I forgot that Jill and Malcolm were friends and that Jill at one point probably had the hots for Malcolm, wanting him to be the model for one of her campaigns on the men’s line. I hated Jabot dropped their whole men’s line later on. Jill getting down Malcolm’s pants would have been hotter than whatever she and Ryan had 😁
  17. ATWT-What was Lisa’s relationships with her daughter-in-laws Carol and Natalie like? Thanks again for sharing! Reading these Y&R recaps are exciting and so fascinating to read the actual details, especially Lorie being thrown in the mix with Phillip.
  18. Yeah I would have picked at least something either late 90s or early ‘00s like maybe Neil’s alcoholism story. If they happen to air anything about Neil & Sofia or Neil holding Hilary captive I will scream lol.
  19. Two 2005 episodes?? 🤢🙄🥱 Granted at least it’ll be a whole lot better that a MAB era episode but my guess these eps are probably all about CKLily for a Neil week. Sheesh
  20. Haha yeah that dialogue was awful! I love JC, I’m sorry that Avery became such a train wreck character later on. What a waste of talent and potential.
  21. Their last few months were a total disaster. 2011 was baaaad with the death by volcano story for Sharon but this circus with Ricky/Daisy/Eden, Sharon marrying Victor and then Tucker when Victor was presumed dead. I almost forgot Jennifer Landon came on as a Heather recast, so did the show!
  22. Yikes! I seriously wonder if they could do some type of Xoom or Skype episode like what the show All Rise did although I have zero clue how to even sustain story unless they did one once a week.
  23. The last couple of years of ATWT did her no favors, with Carly faking illnesses, running around with Wally Kurth’s bizarre character, affair with Holden and then becoming a raging alcoholic then she was so miscast on Y&R. Always loved Maura but boy she had it a rough time of it.
  24. Neil week sounds amazing, although hope they do skip anything since 2014 though!
