  1. That was so randomly awkward and bad but I know a few people actually thought was “groundbreaking” she said that but the character of Denise really fell apart after that and then we had that of her and Andy which could have been really interesting but ended up pretty twisted & wretched. I remember the actress had been alright on AW but this was a mess.
  2. It looks like this 1999 episode could so easily air today it’s gorgeous. I was so disappointed when they lost at the Daytime Emmys right after what a year 1999 was for Y&R.
  3. I was looking at old episode counts it is a testament that Bryton has survived so long as Devon. I mean Bryton was a contract player who only appeared in a total of 20 episodes in 2010, he was almost a goner.
  4. Thanks for that. All I remember about Zach and Felicia was that some goon was after them over gambling debts. I find it interesting Colleen Dion was such a soap hopper (AW, that awful ATWT psycho role, and her two minutes on GL) and never really committed long to one soap yet acted shocked when Felicia was recast.
  5. The Grant family was dismantled in 1996. Instead we a had a trashy triangle between Marcus/Dahlia/Sugar Hill and later the Bourdreau’s came on with not much to do. Gilly got engaged to Alan’s deviant lawyer Sid Dickerson but she broke it off after seeing Sid’s true colors as he attacked witnesses on the stand and got Alan off the hook for aiding and abetting Brent Lawerence. She then met and developed feelings with Griffith Williams, a man who had a past with her mother Vivian. Just as Gilly and Griffith were about sleep together, Vivian rushed in to reveal that Griffith was Gilly’s father! A disgusted Gilly left town to find herself. David ended up being recast a couple times, had a brief marriage and brief relationships with Bridget and Vicky Spaulding and was on and off until 2000/2001 or so. Charles Grant would occasionally still pop up as the head of Cedars through the mid-00’s.
  6. Oh Lord that reminds of the Golden Girls episode of when Blanche reunited with her “mammy” played by Ruby Dee that made a “Mammy” Eisenhower joke.
  7. That’s a great point and it was nice to finally see them air a classic without Ridge, Brooke, Taylor etc. so heavily involved.
  8. Thanks! I knew one of Margo’s last stories was having an affair with Taylor’s ex husband and divorcing Bill Sr. How much longer was Felicia on for before Dion left for AW? She had a relationship with Taylor’s brother but they didn’t seem to be together long before they left LA together.
  9. I tried to block out of all MAB’s attempts to get “the Black storyline up and pumping”. B&B has been even worse at such stories too. That had something decent with Lark Voorhies as Jasmine back in the day but they eventually dropped her. Maya’s story went very unnecessarily off the rails.
  10. That was pretty bad, I was even more shocked to learn the actress was the original Dinah on GL. It definitely put an odd damper on what overall was a very memorable storyline. There was a time during Sheffer’s run were the show diversified but it also a lot inspired righteous indignation. Ben & Lien imploded, Marshall raping Jessica, Bonnie and her violent crime streak, the Zarah/Sarah mess, wasting Reál Andrews sexy doctor character and of course the above Doc Reese story. Just awful but given what else was happening on the show during that time it was the norm. Even as Margo & Jessica were horny for Doc we had Emily horny for Chris Hughes, equal suffering? Don’t even get me started on what happened to Gilly on GL either 🤢🤮
  11. Damn, how I miss Sally & Macy so much on this show. I wish Thudley hadn’t felt the need to off Macy & Darla ugh. Fenmore’s West this early in 1992? Interesting. Loved seeing Clarke again too! As for the thief at Forrester my money is on Jake & Margo 😉
  12. Well dang, got kicked out as local station broke away to a police press conference, but I will say: —I love just seeing Mamie again and her interacting with the family being a 2nd mother to Traci. One thing I didn’t like was during the start of SSM in 2016 was the all sudden emphasis placed on Mrs. Gonzalez “being there all of our lives”. Umm yeah no. —Nikki’s alcoholism story was amazing and heartbreaking to watch as well. Nothing classic like a drunk Nikki falling down the stairs. Probably the best moment was her trying to drink after Victor threatened to take custody of Nick away and then smashing the glass across the room as she broke down. —Brenda Epperson’s Ashley Epperson and Diamont had so much unsung chemistry.
  13. Yeah in those later years she mainly appeared was Phillip/Chance’s babysitter and to talk to Nina. If I recall right the 1997 appearances came when Flo stayed with Nina after Nina shot herself.
  14. I had never seen the first one before so I appreciate it a lot @DRW50 But yes this was a strange period for ATWT indeed, something I don’t think ATWT recovered from and why Maryland felt the need for closure for it. I assume Irma probably wrote this during her notorious second tenure. At least later on the show tried to develop Stewart Channing out of all of this it still was damaging. Melinda O’Fee’s passing reminds of reading that Mike & Charlotte reunited at one point on GL because she was pregnant with his son but apparently they(possibly Irna or the Soderbergs) had her miscarry? All so she could go toe to toe with Kit Vested(think Annie Dutton of the 70’s, heard the audio clips) Nice dismantling of the show.
  15. Thank you @DRW50!!!! I actually do recall seeing this December 1972 ATWT episode back on the old WOST website (sans all those commercials...LMAO @ Fischer Price’s Computer toy!!!!!) like 14 years ago around this time only because we found it funny once Ronnie Talbot appeared how strange it was that the Stewart/Lowell home was like a boarding home for that time but also on how peculiar the story was...Paul was dead but news was quashed to spread along with Dan’s pitiful “THIS ARM IS MY LIFE!!!!!” Bruder looked way to young for all this mess.
  16. That was around the same time I stopped even posting on the SOC boards as at that point there was a heavy push against any negativity towards the show and was very pro Nelson Branco, Daniel Coleridge etc. too, LMAO. SOC has been a good resource for soap history but aside from the folks that ran the Two Scoops commentaries in the early ‘00’s and news sections their message boards have always been bottom of the barrel.
  17. WTF? After all these years? Damn that sucks. Maybe everything would be better suited on a One Drive. Oddly that does make sense as I’ve seen a lot of soaps posted without their intro included...unless you’re a cancelled P&G soap of course where one can just upload whatever they please.
  18. I remember MAB yammering on how “first in daytime history to have two doppelgängers in history and have them interact” like she was Reilly or something. It is no wonder Kimberlin turned down the offer to reappear after reading the script. +10000000
  19. Katherine Chancellor and Murphy piloting a helicopter is exactly why MAB episodes should not be reaired LOL. Thanks @Gray Bunny, I knew GL was usually falling between #5-#7 for much of 97 and even beating ATWT, who’s ratings quickly dropped after the Diego murder mystery quickly spun out of control. Last time I know GL did well in the 4’s was towards the end of the clone story.
  20. This is fabulous, thank you for sharing! GL was definitely at a low point and I remember in the early online days of furious rumors of GL’s imminent cancellation. However with GL being the comeback kid of 1997 in both ratings and critical acclaim that pretty much squashed cancellation talk until AW was canned. I do recall an interview in early 1998 SOD did an interview with Brad asking him about if B&B would ever expand to an hour and his response was to paraphrase “maybe in the far future but not anytime in the near future”. This was the same interview when asked about why little Scotty didn’t ever appear on screen and he made the joke “Tune in every Saturday to B&B to see Lauren and Scotty spend time together”.
  21. The bad thing was how praised it was to kill off John and how nice it was to say goodbye while the actor was still alive or some weird BS like that. Then we got ghost John and Alistair Wallingford for the next five years.
  22. I wonder what he had intended as well. Maybe Kurt was suppose to be a much darker character? McCloskey was a competent actor in the past but he didn’t seem to fit in at all on Y&R. I wonder if Bell & Co were just lost on how on to write an interesting Ashley story at a time when a subpar actress was in the role and already had one pairing already DOA.
  23. LOL! I’m surprised Thudley has yet to bring back Dave played by some washed up prime time or foreign actor in some really crappy “Brooke’s first true love story” that lasts 6 months or less.
  24. Jill having a lost boyfriend reminds me of in a way like Dave Reed on B&B who I don’t think even made it to 1988.
  25. Actually it was SFT, but Edge of Night did have a yacht explosion in 1974 and so did in Passions in 2001. In both Edge and Passions' cases it happened to couples on their honeymoons by their nefarious rivals just like Michael & Lauren.
