But, in our (Oklahoma's) defense, we are very much a red state; and with Donald Trump facing no real primary challenges, it's possible we're fine with the status quo. Unfortunately. I honestly believe it should remain that way for every state. Whenever we've attempted to modernize and revolutionize how we vote in our elections, we've ended up making a big mess of the entire operation. And Sanders takes Vermont (per the NYT).

In a way, it's good to see long lines at polling places, because that means people are taking this election seriously. But, if some are so exasperated with the lines that they're giving up...? I dunno. I wish I had a solution for that particular issue. Well, my district (Warr Acres/Putnam City) was created during "white flight;" so, yes, there remains an inordinate number of middle-class whites. In recent years, however, I find the "makeup" of my neighborhood changing, as more working-class whites and non-whites are moving into the neighborhood. (Plus, those older, white residents are inevitably dying off and/or moving into retirement homes outside the area.). Hopefully, in years to come, that will translate into this and other districts in OK "turning blue." Exactly. It's amazing to think "Cheers," a long-running sitcom, had not just two conservative Republicans (Kelsey Grammer and John Ratzenberger) in its' cast, but a hard-core Scientologist (Kirstie Alley) as well. Yet, by all accounts, theirs was a happy, productive set; and hardly anyone (not even Kirstie) has hurt for work in the years since.

Well, I voted. Strangely enough, there were no lines at my designated polling place (a Lutheran church less than a mile from my house). On the other hand, I showed up at the polls at 11 am. So, either many have voted already (either during the early voting period, or before going to work this morning), or more are planning to vote after work this evening, or...they just don't gaf. I LOL'ed at that one, too. First of all, WHAT ACTING CAREER? Secondly, I doubt supporting Donald Trump would have euthanized it. (But, if it did, then maybe Trump was good for something after all, lol!)

Needless to say, the results of the South Carolina primary caught Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar and Tom Steyer off guard. Up to that point, I think they all believed they had viable paths to the nomination. But, African-American voters in SC pretty much told them, "Nope!".

If Joe Biden's performance in the South Carolina primary was all that was needed to get Tom Steyer, Pete Buttigieg and now Amy Klobuchar to drop out of the 2020 race, then maybe we DO need to rethink Iowa and New Hampshire being the first to primary or caucus our presidential candidates.

I understand the need for objectivity as a journalist. But, when your politicians do or say something that most people would agree is heinous, I think you need to set aside that objectivity and, in those moments, speak truth to power. Like they used to say at Rolling Stone magazine, "if the president is a liar, call him a liar." CBS and "60 Minutes" are getting their asses and everything else handed to them for this. Good.

True. In the end, maybe being the first openly gay man to run for president was all Pete Buttigieg needed to accomplish. Maybe now, the path will be a little more smooth for the next, openly gay man or woman who decides to have a shot at running this country.... ....Maybe.

Pete Buttigieg was the first openly gay man to run for president. Yet, it was as if he and/or his campaign's advisers were doing everything possible to make his sexuality NOT be the thing that defined him or defined him most as a candidate -- to the point of avoiding real talk on those issues you've alluded to, @DramatistDreamer -- even as all of Buttigieg's public appearances seemingly ended with him and his husband embracing and kissing in front of the cheering crowd. To me, that was...baffling. I'm not suggesting Buttigieg should've exploited his sexuality, or that that might've helped him stay in the race longer. But, I do believe it needed to be more of a lens through which he could see LGBTQ-related and other issues in his campaign. If anything, Pete Buttigieg proves, once and for all, that not all gay men are like RuPaul. Nevertheless, I'm not convinced he and Chasten are in it for the long haul.

Frankly, @Juliajms, I doubt it. I don't believe African-Americans, who remain a significant part of the Democratic Party's base, will ever fully embrace Pete Buttigieg the way they have, say, Joe Biden. There's simply too much weariness (to put it mildly) on the part of minorities to trust that he would understand and address our ongoing concerns with this country. At this point, my advice to him would be 1) endorse another candidate ASAP (if not Biden, then Elizabeth Warren); 2) put out feelers for on-air political analyst gigs in order to stay in the public eye; and 3) run for the Senate at the next opportunity. There's no shame in being a "career senator." Many of our greatest politicians, in fact, were never president. Peter Paul Montgomery Buttigieg of South Bend, IN, could one day join that very illustrious group. (...Or, he and Chasten could get their own reality series on Logo. I'd watch.)

Agree! I'm not complaining about that! But I think the apartment door is a cheap, obvious joke; and I hate cheap, obvious jokes on sitcoms.

Frankly, the Bells should have set B&B in NYC, since that's more of a fashion capital than L.A. (Exhibit A: the city's yearly "Fashion Week.") They also should've kept "Rags" as the title. "The Bold and the Beautiful" has always sounded a little too "If you like 'The Young and the Restless,' then you'll love..." to me.

And, of course, they're posing in front of an apartment door marked "227."

Well, that's what I meant previously by lack of network affiliate clearances. Even today, I think, FOX doesn't have an actual daytime lineup the way ABC, CBS and NBC do. For the most part, their daypart is syndicated talk and courtroom shows, and cheap, local programming. For that matter, I don't think FOX isn't a late-night performer either (although, not for lack of trying), which really makes me wonder how a show like "13 Bourbon Street" would have performed, had FOX persuaded enough affiliates into carrying it.

Preach, (Black) Agnes! I've never bought into the "attention spans are getting shorter" nonsense. For the most part, I think viewers' attention spans are as strong as they've ever been. It's their patience with substandard writing, acting and directing that has worn thin. Otherwise, you could have just one, long scene per act in an episode, and audiences will be riveted if you give the actors more to do than just stand there, look pretty and spout recap and/or exposition.
