  1. "They said they came with shotguns, rifles and pistols to protect their downtown businesses from outsiders. They had heard that antifa, paid by billionaire philanthropist George Soros, were being bused in from neighboring cities, hellbent on razing their idyllic town." And just where did these people receive this unsubstantiated information? They received it from the same place where residents of other small towns across the country are receiving it. They received it...from Facebook. Social media networks were supposed to bring us into the 21st century, and beyond. Instead, they're taking us back to the Dark Ages.
  2. Well, I knew this was gonna get ugly, sooner or later.
  3. Now that you've mentioned it, I don't recall seeing such an establishment on RH -- which is odd, because RH was set in NYC, and discos were fairly common in NYC at that time. But, on the other hand, maybe Labine & Mayer avoided it on purpose, because it seemed like every other soap on the air was trying to incorporate disco (and failing). Yes, Kelli Maroney was VERY green on RH and needed a ton of guidance. However, she also breathed some life into a show that was beginning to get stale with all the Ryan/Coleridge/Reid hookups. I'm sorry she didn't stay on RH for very long, as she probably might've developed into a good, if not great, actress. Then again, if she had stayed, there probably wouldn't have been a Maggie Shelby, as I found her and Kimberly to be very similar.
  4. Bill Hayes looks better and has more energy at 95 than I do at 40, lol! Happy Birthday, Mr. Hayes!
  5. He said, in those tweets, what we all have at least suspected: the networks have grown too conservative (and that's putting it, well, conservatively, lol) to take risks in anything, including how POC are written and portrayed. Thanks, @Forever8!
  6. Years ago, I read an article about ATWT and EON celebrating their respective 25th (?) anniversaries with parties, with Don Hastings saying theirs (ATWT) was a bit dull, and the writer remarking how EON's lively bash was a marked contrast to ATWT's. So, it's possible that ATWT's set was a congenial set, but also a very stuffy one.
  7. 'Bout damn time!
  8. IKR? Reading about that incident, and then watching it online, I was so pissed off at how the Buffalo Police Department explained it away: "He tripped, and he fell." Right. And Phyllis didn't really intend to run down Paul and Christine with her car; they just didn't get out of her way fast enough!
  9. I was so sad to hear about Mary Pat Gleason's passing. She was one of those character actors I always looked forward to seeing on various shows. (Her appearance on "Mama's Family" is still a favorite.) May she RIP.
  10. Julianne Moore will always have my heart -- not just because she is a FABULOUS actress, but because she has never appeared to be ashamed about her daytime past. In an interview she gave to SOD years ago, long after she'd left the show and become Julianne Moore, she talked about how it irritated her to hear/read people say that a job on a soap is a "stepping stone" toward "real" work. It isn't a stepping stone toward a job, she said, it's a job, period. I love her for that.
  11. I think the killer hornets ate them all.
  12. There are also editorials supporting the protests and denouncing the Trump administration's latest attempt at posturing. The NYT might very well want a military takeover, but you can't argue as much on the basis of one opinion column written by a rank-and-file Republican.
  13. Obviously, I speak only for myself, but I won't accept anything less than first-degree murder.
  14. Wow, such an unfortunate freeze frame of Victoria Wyndham. I often think YouTube does these kinds of things on purpose. Meanwhile, 12 hours to tape a one-hour program? You know, maybe live and live-on-tape had their merits after all.
  15. Perhaps, lol. From what I can recall, even Jean Passanante, who was in the room when it occurred, was like, "I can't BELIEVE she did that!". Truthfully, I haven't thought much about Elizabeth Page ever since she wrote an article for some publication about how hard life was for her and her family during the last WGA strike. "No more dinners at fancy restaurants, no more $300 haircuts!" Karen, please! Wasn't it rumored that it had something to do with Michael Conforti, who had joined the staff as co-HW (I think?)?
  16. IIRC, it was a long-term storyline (meaning, it wasn't over and done with in, say, two weeks) that affected other storylines as well. (For instance, in order to afford the purchase of the mansion, Ruth sold her stocks in her husband's ice cream company to a business rival/competitor, which caused a strain between the Marshalls.)
  17. Off the top of my head: Ruth Marshall (Joan Pringle), matriarch of the African-American Marshall clan, faced terrible discrimination (threatening phone calls, obscene messages spray-painted on her walls, even a bomb scare at her housewarming party) when she bought the Whitmore mansion, which she'd been raised in as the maid, Vivian's (Lynn Hamilton), daughter. As I've said in the past, Sally Sussman had trouble head-writing even her own show; however, I have to give her credit for following in Agnes Nixon's footsteps by giving such prominence to non-stereotypical characters of color.
  18. I get the feeling that Dee Hall would rather forget about Marlena's rape. It's the one storyline of hers that I've ever heard her criticize.
  19. Frankly, I think they would've been better off bringing back Ellen Wheeler as a new character. I didn't care for how they had to change Marley in order to contrast her with Jensen's Vicky.
  20. I wonder how a show like GENERATIONS would have addressed everything that's going on in our country right now.
  21. Heck, they could've had Don as Marlena's friend and confidante during the whole time she and John were apart. That would've been better than nothing.
  22. OTOH, you'd have a white billionaire adopting a poor Black child, which only works when that child is Gary Coleman (and even then, the whole idea is questionable).
  23. Who's "jenny"? Are they talking about "Jennifer" from the Target riot?
  24. "Hey hey! Ho ho! The New York Times has got to go!"
  25. So. Damn. Tired.
