FROM THE VAULT: 56 YEARS AGO THIS WEEK: FARRAH FAWCETT APPEARS ON "DAYS OF OUR LIVES"... Farrah Fawcett (pictured above circa 1970) began her acting career in 1969. In just her second year of acting, at age 23, she made a U/5 appearance in the first scene of Episode # 1230 on "Days of Our Lives" as Diana Washburn. The episode aired September 18, 1970. Meanwhile, if Ashley Puzemis did the math correctly, she said she finished at 222 episodes. She's listed in 2 episodes next week, so that puts my count of her at 219. Possibly just 3 episodes left of Holly after 9/18. Would be fun if the numbers matched, but when actors post episode counts ahead of time, they rarely seem to match my final numbers. We shall see!

Nikki didn't even have a contract. Without Sydney on contract, we'll be down to 23 contract actors in the near future. They showed Matt Ashford in the 62nd season yearbook photos, so always hopeful Matt could be back on contract!

Once we found out Sydney Malakeh was recurring, I figured he might be too, but we'll get confirmation of his status in Monday's credits.

"DAYS" RANKS 1ST IN NIELSENS FOR FIRST TIME! Don't know if we knew this before? (I don't see it on my Nielsen records page), but Hollywood Studio Magazine's January 1972 issue mentions that "Days" reached # 1 in the Nielsens for the first-time ever the week of 11/8/71. So that narrows the weeks that "Days" could have been # 1 down to 11/8/71 to its last time the week of 7/29/74 (plus the weeks of 7/25/88 and 8/1/88-tie). " And in the August 1968 Hollywood Studio Magazine comes this fun fact: Ken Corday and Mac Carey's daughter, Elizabeth, graduated in the same class from Beverly Hills High!
