GH: April 2026 Discussion Thread
A good actor gives nuance and fills in when the material is lacking. Most of us knew that resurrected Nathan was a fakeout, but the tension shouldn't have existed because we've watched soaps for a long time. There's a reason why David Canary's portrayal of Adam/Stuart still stands the test of time. Even when Adam was pretending to be Stuart, Canary gave a wink to the audience. Another example is Christopher Reeve's portrayal of Clark/Superman. He made you believe they were two different people. You're right that RP is not the most offensive actor on the canvas. But he's just reading lines off the page to me. He gives absolutely nothing! As for the rest of today's show, Rory is too damn good a recast to be left with busy work. Put him back in a hot story. If Sidwell is going to have everyone by the balls, give Michael a reason. Sidwell's mustache twirling is a bit much now.

Basically. But I wonder if an actor the caliber of David Canary could make this work. You really did think Stuart and Adam Chandler were two different people on All My Children. RP is giving me nothing. He doesn't distinguish between Nathan and Cassius. The writing made it obvious he was a fake but he could've added some nuance. I just hope this doesn't drag out as long as Peter/Heinrich. I had to stop watching GH for a while over that.

B&B: April 2026 Discussion Thread
Sheila is so going to lose it. But I wish they'd stop ignoring what she's already done to Taylor and Steffy already. Although, I don't care if Steffy takes another round. I hate her so much. All she does is point her finger at everyone. At least Stephanie Forrester was an entertaining bitch. Not that I miss him, but where's Liam? Hope needs more to do than worry about her dad's sex life.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
It's cruel that the cancellation came on April Fool's, but the show had run its course by then. It was put out of its misery. Better writers and a decent budget could've had Sarah Randall, Robby Santos and the younger kids leading the show. Although it's jarring to think of Michelle, Danny, Jonathan, and Lizzie as the new OG set replacing Cassie, Josh, Beth, and Harley. And we all know Reva wouldn't be leaving the front burner. She'd be in cougar town with Robby!

I'm about to watch the episode in a few minutes but the actor who plays Sidwell reminds me of a rollercoaster. He can chew a scene like a ham sandwich (like Marco's death) and then he's very laid back. In the last thread, I think @ranger1rg mentioned that Sidwell is pulling all the strings and it's way too much. He's currently threatening Laura, Sonny, Drew, Willow and is some mastermind behind fake Nathan. GH needs to pull back. Making him Willow's overlord was a jump the shark moment for me. And yes, Happy anniversary GH! It's currently my favorite soap and the most consistent with story and pacing.

DAYS: Galen Gering & Elia Cantu off contract as of today's credits
Galen long overstayed his welcome on DAYS. No great loss if he's not screen hogging. I did like Elia Cantu, but the show never did.

Yeah. Kristina seems all in on Jacinda, and I think the writers are setting up Olivia to say "I told you so" to Michael.

GH has a right-leaning tilt. Willow's cancer/pregnancy story was so OTT. She wouldn't even consider treatment or an abortion because the baby was so sacred. It says a lot that I much prefer Willow as an absolute psychopath compared to what she used to be.

ARTICLE: ‘General Hospital’ Alum Sofia Mattsson Joins ‘Days Of Our Lives’ With Early 2027 Debut Set
😅🤣 We'll all be skeletons by the time she debuts. I can't get into DAYS because of the taping schedule. Sofia joining the show doesn't make me want to watch, but she looks good as a brunette.

This pearl clutching only works if it were Edward and he'd make it fun. At best, Olivia is Gen X and wouldn't be such a prude, especially with her past. They've turned her into a Mary Sue and a wannabe Quartermaine matriarch to justify her being on the canvas. Jacinda should have an OF, if the writers were really interested in a woman taking sexual agency while still being with Michael. Rory Gibson came on like hot grease last year, and he's just cooled off with this nonsense. The Carly/Brennan scenes didn't do that much for me. I was more interested in Laura Wright's beautiful hair. It looks like she has platinum and gray streaks now.

B&B: March 2026 Discussion Thread
I hate that I found this Sheila/Taylor camp so much fun. 😂 at Sheila not knowing what a woman having an orgasm sounds like and reaching for a knife, and Taylor playing it off as if she were pleasuring herself. Although, I found two things weird. Deacon knows Sheila is a psycho and still left Taylor to fend for herself and Taylor kept pleading for Sheila not to kill her. Um, she already pumped you up with bullets and left you for dead once. If you put ALL that aside, it was camp in the best way. But I have a feeling Sheila knows what's up. She didn't seem that convinced that Deacon was snoring on the couch.

Thank you for this. I've always heard so much about this iconic story. Speaking of Roger Thorpe, I'm currently binging fall 2004, and watching the full episodes gives me more context than clips. But for the life of me, I just can't get into Sebastian, who is supposed to be Roger's son but also dating Holly, I guess. He currently has Michelle, Tony and Holly locked in some cage while dying of some disease. I am finding it very hard to care. I'm so lost. Especially since NSA just brings down the character of Michelle for me to the point where I FF most of her scenes. Hope's kidnapping piqued my curiosity tho. Unrelated, it's ridiculous that no one can tell that it's Harley in that silly disguise. @alwaysAMC I love how Michelle comes alive in your write up. I was watching those scenes a few weeks ago. I love OG Manny and was able to get over Danny sleeping with Drew because he was hurt. Michelle refused to admit her feelings and I think they had decided to get divorced before he cheated. I liked the Carmen and Ben dynamic. I won't say more since I know you're not that far ahead yet.

GH: March 2026 Discussion Thread
Yes, please take note! I like how there are multiple arcs and characters that can be activated to drive story. I have to say that Britt did not annoy me as much as she usually does this week. The writers, thankfully, scaled down the bitchiness and allowed some humanity to shine through. I still think her comeback is a flop but at least she's being used correctly. The Gio/Dante scenes felt a bit forced and didn't do much for me. Dante having a son he didn't know had so much potential and it just went off the rails. As for the other parent, I still don't care about BLQ and Chase and this random baby. It's obvious the writers put a bow on "Nathan" and Maxie very quickly because he needed to be in Lulu's orbit. There was no time for a triangle with the WSB story looming. But it's jarring how Maxie being in a coma all those months didn't even matter after a week.

ALL: Ryan Gosling talks "Days of Our Lives" "Deidre Hall" and the soap genre
Same. His shoutout to DAYS and the genre says so much about his character. It's a nice change of pace to see movie stars not talking down on other mediums. If and when he does his DAYS cameo, I'll watch for that.

Count me in on not caring. You can throw BLQ in that basket too. Joss is so unlikable. Just a smug bitch all the time. She is so hard to take and it says something that Britt has more rooting value in a scene. Dr. Rolf and his serum do need to make a pit stop in GH. Give me back Georgie and Emily: Take BLQ and Joss instead. The scenes between Lucas and Ava are nice. I love Maura West but it's getting harder to justify why she (and Nina) are on the canvas when they're filler most days. I know that's true of Liz too. I hope she gets some reaction to the father of her first born being taken away to an ICE warehouse. But GH would have to remember that Jake exists!

GH: March 2026 Discussion Thread
Agree with all points. GH knows how to shake sh*t up when there's a lull. But at the very least, they know how to course correct pacing and make each day matter and these past few days have been intense. I didn't realize I'd feel so sad about Marco dying. I gasped. I'm already annoyed that this will just lead to a Brad and Lucas reunion who are past their expiration date. Marco was a believable gray character who was sacrificed for a short term shocking death. Now his potential and chemistry with Lucas has just been wasted. Still, GH has my full attention again.

ALL: "Soapy" Podcast hosted by Rebecca Budig & Greg Rikaart
It was meant to be; really about a person meeting their moment/destiny. He came across well, and really does benefit from having someone to put some guardrails on his ideas.

Agree. Marlena's possession is what got me into DAYS. I was risking my mother's wrath by sneaking to watch, but it was worth it.

B&B: Launches BBTV app with entire library
I've been screaming into the ether for soaps, especially the ones that are longer airing, to get on screaming. $5.99 is basically a steal for all those episodes. I'd start around the Amber/Usher/Rick era, then move to 2000, when Brooke seduces Thorne, which leads to Macy's death, and then to the Avants before starting from the beginning. I've never seen the earlier years.

One Life to Live Tribute Thread
I know right?! I had no idea who Maria was last week, but now I'm all in. And @Khan says Viki went after her without even needing an alter. Delicious. One of my favorite Viki stories was her locking Dorian up and torturing her. I so badly wanted her to admit that there was a part of her that got off on it. Just like Jessica hid behind Tess to make Natalie's life miserable.

@alwaysAMC Is there a specific channel that you go to for various years of GL? I'd like to binge Cassie's 97 introduction /Annie's meltdown and 2004 when Jonathan is introduced. Thanks for this explainer. It makes sense. I'll let it be. My goodwill for Guiding Light was gone at this point, and nothing about that era makes me want to watch full episodes. Even the Jonathan-centric episodes didn't do much for me, and I loved Jammy as a couple and as characters. I don't know why TP returned. Most likely a check, but he didn't captivate me like he once did. I still think he's a great actor (I know that's polarizing around these parts since he did chew scenery. 😃)

GH: March 2026 Discussion Thread
I wish GH leaned more into Rocco being influenced by his grandfather Sonny who has been a constant while his father went AWOL for a while or Lulu being in a coma. In turn, Rocco came to idolize him. Instead, they have Gio prostrating before Sonny but I digress. Even Rocco's obsession with Britt could be explained by his being disconnected by Lulu being in a coma and then her ignoring him for Baby Helena. It's not like Britt raised him for the first years of his life and he got attached. He only found out about her last year but this is some good drama. And the actor is the strongest out of the young set. Maybe Dante will get the stick out of his ass when it comes to Rocco. They've really made him a square. He's so black and white. And the way he rages at Gio every month? Yikes. But today's GH gave the show a much needed boost. I don't mind Jason being a useless mobster now. Sonny and Jason are AARP age now and it's been hard to take either seriously as enforcers. MEK does look skinny. I don't think he needed the shot but half the cast of GH seems to have gotten some work done. Some more distracting than others.

😂😂😂 Sorry for the double post. Didn't see this before my other reply. Whew. But this is so accurate and funny! If only Jacinda had Julia Roberts' charm. I think Alan also killed Ray, Karen's abusive stepfather. None of them are saints.

GH: March 2026 Discussion Thread
You're absolutely right and I think this is where the actor/character comes into play. Edward was such a curmudgeon, but most of us loved him. Olivia just irks me. She is such a hypocrite and not the fun kind. It's nothing against the actress. She doesn't have much to work with. And also, it feels that the Q's are back to being filler again. I really thought Jason interacting with them more meant a renewed purpose on the show. I wouldn't mind if Dillon were recast or if Keesha Ward returned with AJ's child. Inject some new blood with Tracy, Michael, and Ned (who is happily divorced) as the old guard.
