  1. I loved Nick and Brooke's relationship. He was so charming and she never had to beg him to love her (if my memory is holding up.)
  2. I used to love Steffy. It's obvious that Brad sees her as his new muse. But part of what used to make Brooke interesting was that she had Stephanie or Taylor (when properly written) as a contrast. A good hero/antihero/heroine needs a counter. Steffy's been allowed to take over the entire canvas, and no one gets to check her. I don't even know why she's crying her eyes out over Liam. Yes, that's her baby daddy but they're not together or married. She's married to Finn who she treats worse than a stray dog. I doubt the show will improve once the character is written off for JMW's maternity leave. But even just a week without Steffy's smug face will be glorious.
  3. I tuned in at the possibility of Liam dying and chuckled at what was happening on screen. Bridget and Dr. Cunningham were so emotional about the diagnosis. I hope they care about all their patients this way. And I get that Steffy has to be the center of the universe per Bell decree, but why in the HIPAA is she being told about Liam's condition before him?
  4. All facts. I think more people are starting to realize that maybe we expected too much from Beyond the Gates. I had so much hope and excitement for this show and went to the Paley Center event. And it just crashed out after a few weeks. Although, if I'm being honest, the story of Bill blackmailing the Duprees to be at his wedding to his side piece during the first week was a huge red flag. That and a firefighter rescuing a cat shouldn't have made it out of the writer's room. I briefly got excited when Anita showed a backbone last week, and now it's American Idol time. I've missed a chunk of episodes on Paramount Plus, cringed at today's episode in real time, and changed the channel. I don't like that I feel this way, but BTG has exhausted my goodwill.
  5. Third or maybe fourth Amen. Maitland is the heart of the show for me. I wish Tracy could get a decent romance. Claire/Kyle are a snooze. She needs some spark of a personality.
  6. 😅😂 I've lost hope, pun not intended, with the show. But I am shocked to read the ratings went up. I just don't get it. And Luna looks ridiculous in that get up.
  7. Without question, Laura Wright is the stronger actress. With the right actress, Willow could've been more like Sarah Brown's Carly. It would've been a full circle moment to have Carly dealing with her karma in human form. But the biased writing and Carly's constant attack mode have turned me off the character. TB might've swayed me because she was oh-so-good at showing all sides of Carly, not just the feral one. Carly is just too nasty for me to ever enjoy, and Laura, as great as an actress she is, just leans into the smugness and snarling too much. She was pitch perfect as Cassie and Ally but does nothing for me as Carly now. As an aside, Nina needs to be rebooted or written out. Cynthia needs to do more than hand-wringing on the sidelines.
  8. I don't care for Willow, but I'm on her side. I can't stand Carly ( a lot of it has to do with the biased writing and the acting at times.) I'm here for any time other characters can call that shrew out on her crap. Emma has grown on me so much. She's feisty, has her own mind, and isn't cookie cutter.
  9. I've had my issues with Beyond the Gates but more of Anita Dupree being THAT ICE QUEEN! Yes, please. More of this. Seeing her and, to some extent, Vernon be merciless in protecting one of their own was incredible; it was a shot of adrenaline to make me excited about the show again. This is the bite that's been missing. Dani is a mess, but she is Anita's mess, and they should've fired her the day after the wedding if her crash out was that big of a deal. This scene made me giddy in the best possible way. Tamara Tunie for the win! I just hope that Bill doesn't blackmail the Duprees in a few days and we're back to square one. Yes, Dani is privileged, but I love that she knows it. She doesn't need to cling to a man. Just her last name and parents! I like that she didn't lose it again. Also, Bill and Hayley should just move. Yes, we wouldn't have a show if they did, but you're in Dupree country. I agree with the poster who suggested that Nurse perfect should've been assigned to Laura. But at least Shanice is on the case!
  10. *standing ovation* Brad Bell has ruined Steffy and Finn/Steffy. She treats him like a neutered dog. I'm glad the show finally had a decent guy for Steffy after the Liam torture but they went in the opposite direction to make him a doormat who barely has any agency. Steffy berating Hope when she fired her again was so OTT and Brooke yelling at Hope? I don't even care for Hope that much, but the writers are just piling on. Brad Bell will not get my rage views for a while after last week.
  11. I've steadily lost interest in this show as the weeks have gone by, and Ashley/Derek feels like low-hanging fruit as to what's not working. At least for me. Dani is arguably the star of the show and is written like a 50-something teenager who crashes out because the boy she likes doesn't like her back. She and Bill have chemistry but their dynamic got toxic way too quickly. Ted and Bill both being cheaters is reductive. I still wish Nicole could've been the one to be the stepping out and that ruins her perfect image. The Duprees are supposed to be big and bad, but Bill always pushes them into a corner over wooden Martin. And I agree with the poster who said it's ridiculous that they're having meetings over sexual harassment claims at a restaurant. Shanice is perfect, and I hope that she gets pushed to the front burner. I hope the showrunners take the valid criticisms of the show and retool some of these stories. I really do want it to succeed.
  12. Martin is the villain of the show for me. Dude is so unlikable. 😂 Although I do appreciate that the show is letting one of their gay characters be a complete POS and isn't a token saint.
  13. Dani crashing out every other episode isn't cute. And is becoming a bore. I love Eva but she and Ted have some inappropriate chemistry lol. My girl looks great in that fit.
  14. Dani is more Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald. But at least Theresa was young when the show debuted. Erica was iconic and stood her own. But as you said, Dani has been solely defined and reactive to Bill. I also thought the same about Leslie. All Nicole or Ted would ever have to do is see a picture. Or catch them in church and her cover is blown. Although, if soap operas operated in reality, her cover would've been blown with the rooftop stunt.
  15. 100%. I'm also stuck on when and where Ridge started to hate Hope, calling her all types of names. Hope is flaky and was horny all last year but she's not written as a vixen. Brad Bell is gross for how he makes Hope the dumping ground for the characters. Even Brooke couldn't support her. I'm not the biggest Hope fan, but she has been thrown under the bus. At least commit to making her a villain.
  16. This Sharon and Phyllis stuff is shockingly bad. At least Passions knew it was a parody.
  17. I miss Florencia and her over-the-top personality on my screen. Since Dani and Nicole are in their 50s, maybe she could be a former model/peer of Dani's. Victoria Konefal could be a decent Ashley recast if she's still interested in soaps.
  18. I think Nick is behind this Sharon/Phyllis nonsense. For reasons. Maybe he has an Ian mask making him do things. Beyond pointless, this story is boring. The writers have ruined both women. Sharon comes off as if she's still being drugged.
  19. Nicole being a cheater would've been ingenious. She's the calm and collected one. No one would've initially suspected her. Or if Nicole and Ted had an open marriage like Vanessa and her man.
  20. I don't get the obsession with making Hope out to be this super villain who makes Carter feel powerless. I really wish she were written that way. Carter isn't a boy that is being led around. It's annoying how he just blankly stares most of the time, as if he has no autonomy and can't make his own choices. I'm still waiting for Luna to stop all her crying and go back to being a psycho.
  21. Oh right. It was a church. I stand corrected. Beyond the Gates is still the only show that makes me want to watch, and not out of habit. One lousy episode isn't going to change my mind. But I hope the writers course correct with some of their choices.
  22. It's so gross that Drew is being messy about Lila and Edward's final resting place. I already hated the character but he's so ewwww. He's grooming/manipulating Willow (who I don't care about) but is also going to have graves desecrated because he wants to use the Quartermaine name? We still have a strong bond with Edward and Lila. This writing choice hits different. Emma standing up to Drew was a nice touch. Of course, she'd take out her phone. It's too bad the writers have sidelined Nina. It doesn't make any sense why she just won't admit to the hate sex. Lulu and Brook Lyn had good scenes. I wish Brook Lyn would've smacked the mess out of her tho. Maxie is too young a character to only be a talk to. But I guess that Peter garbage was enough for a few lifetimes.
  23. A lot of these plots are moving way too fast. I appreciate that BTG doesn't move at a snail's pace, but we're still getting to know these characters. Hayley is coming off as the most likable of this trio, and that's saying something. Dani's mugshot photos were cute. Not withstanding, this story is spiraling. Naomi and Jacob should be engaged--not married. It's ridiculous that Naomi is old enough to have her own law firm. Whatever. But she knows what job her husband has. He was just doing his job because your mom fired at your dad in church. And when are Naomi and Hayley going to have a real scene? Chelsea is quicky losing my interest. She's so passive in everything and a part of it has to do with the acting. The biggest WTF is Ted knowing Leslie (who doesn't seem that crazy after all). If Ted is just another cheater, why has he been portrayed as a stiff, one note good guy all this time? They missed a beat by not having Bill and Ted be close. Also, what hospital is going to allow a suicidal woman to be alone with a shrink on a rooftop, then alone in the doctor's office and then be sent on her way to roam the rooftop again? Huh?! The show is still new, and I know daytime legends are writing it. But today was a complete mess. An editor should be pointing out these huge plot points.
  24. Lois' return has been an utter flop. She's no longer recognizable. Lois was beating her chest about Nina lying to Sonny, but she hid a child from his immediate family for 20 years. And then she was suddenly ashamed of her voice, before she wasn't. The character is just a pretzel for whatever plot point the writers come up with.
  25. Bill has dirt on everyone lol. Surprised Dani doesn't use what she knows against him. She was his wife for years and has to know something. I'd also love an old-fashioned romance on the show. It's only week two and going into the third, but it would be nice to see the beginnings of an end-game couple from the start. Dani and Andre don't count since it's just great sex. Andre/Ashley doesn't do much for me.
