  1. I think it's a waiter. I dunno. Maybe it's a plus one. Hard to say. Here is the clip:
  2. To be honest. I never pay any attention to background music, so I don't remember, and I watched it twice today. I simply liked the references to history in the dialog and that most of the emotions were realistic. I found Martha believable today. Her own mother in real life died last year, so I think Martha pulled from that well.
  3. Zach Tinker, Greg Rikaart, and Judith Chapman reappear as Fen, Kevin, and Gloria. This is from the preview of week of Jan 23rd that aired at end of Thurs Jan 19th Canadian episode.
  4. Jamey tweeted that he was the outline writer (breakdown writer) for today. I was surprised because it wasn't camp at all today. I guess Jamey just wrote the bare outline this time and that's all? Richard Culliton wrote today's script. The writing /acting/ directing today was really good. It was the first episode I've liked in a very very very long time.
  5. I've missed out on some of the history. Did Daniel and Heather ever marry? Did Heather adopt Lucy? Or does Heather have any rights as stepparent, adoptive parent, or guardian of Lucy?
  6. so ... they gonna address the Paul situation, with his daughter visiting?
  7. I was curious, too, so I looked it up on the Soap Hoppers thread. "Sally the Duke's Place waitress 1986-87" https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/55788-soap-hoppers-the-soap-actors-and-roles-thread/page/110
  8. I know this is the B&B thread, but just an fyi in case anyone missed it, that Sheila's biological granddaughter Lucy (from Y&R) has been recast as a teen and debuts on Y&R in February. Thread here: https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/62212-yr-casting-news/
  9. Early 1970s. I was a teenager but was not allowed to watch TV after school. My father and stepmother worked all day, so I was home alone after school. Every morning before she left for work, my stepmother took the knobs off the television and hid them, so that I couldn't access the TV when I got home. No problem. I went into my father's workroom every day and took his pliers - and brought them to the kitchen to turn on the TV and change the channel, so I could see my soaps. And then I carefully put the pliers back when I was done. I did that for years. I don't think they ever found out.
  10. omg today Thursday Jan 19 is a really great episode. All the acting and dialog are great. I don't get moved to tears much anymore but today did it for me.
  11. I know, right? I don't know when he started appearing as the cop with the ginormous mustache, but he's been on several times in that role. I specifically remember May 10, 2022, when Lani shot her biological father, and Paulina took the blame - he was one of the cops that arrived at the scene. I remember this because his picture (via screenshot) was all over twitter due to the ridiculous mustache, and we were trying to figure out who he was.
  12. Robert Scott Crane is on again today (Thur 1/19) - without the huge mustache - as the extra doctor helping Sarah with the defibrillator for Marlena.
  13. The actor is Robert Scott Crane. He has frequent appearances in various extra roles at the police station, hospital, square, pub, etc. He was an extra at the Montreal marina on Beyond Salem 2. Robert Scott Crane goes by "Scott". https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1382356/bio He is the son of Bob Crane of Hogan's Heroes. And he's the nephew of Eric Braeden. (Robert Scott Crane's mother Sigrid Valdis was the sister of Eric Braeden's wife Dale Russell Gudegast.) Check out his instagram. He posts pics when he films, and you'll know how he'll appear on the show in around 6 months. https://www.instagram.com/robertscottcrane/
  14. Full text of her speech https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/300787810/live-jacinda-ardern-resigns-as-prime-minister-labour-to-vote-on-new-leader-on-sunday Ardern's unexpected announcement: Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced her resignation shortly after 1pm today, during a press conference at the party retreat in Napier. She says colleagues who knew her well were not surprised that she, over summer, had decided she would stand down this year. {in reference to the Southern Hemisphere summer} She told reporters: "I believe that leading a country is the most privileged job anyone could ever have, but also one of the more challenging. You cannot, and should not do it unless you have a full tank, plus, a bit in reserve for those unexpected challenges. "This summer, I had hoped to find a way to prepare for not just another year, but another term - because that is what this year requires. I have not been able to do that." Ardern says she has no plan after this year's election, but wants to spend time with her family. She says she will stay on as an electorate MP until the election. "I am not leaving because I believe we cannot win the next election, but because I believe we can and will," she said. Here is the official statement from the Prime Minister's office: “Being Prime Minister has been the greatest honour of my life and I want to thank New Zealanders for the enormous privilege of leading the country for the last five and a half years,” Jacinda Ardern said. “With holding such a privileged role comes responsibility, including the responsibility to know when you’re the right person to lead, and also when you’re not. “I have given my absolute all to being Prime Minister but it has also taken a lot out of me. You cannot and should not do the job unless you have a full tank, plus a bit in reserve for those unplanned and unexpected challenges that inevitably come along. “Having reflected over summer I know I no longer have that bit extra in the tank to do the job justice. It’s that simple. “I have spoken to the Governor-General this morning to let her know. “In addition to our ambitious agenda that has sought to address long term issues like the housing crisis, child poverty and climate change, we also had to respond to a major biosecurity incursion, a domestic terror attack, a volcanic eruption and a one in one hundred year global pandemic and ensuing economic crisis. The decisions that had to be made have been constant and weighty. “I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved over the last five years in spite of the many challenges thrown at us. We’ve turned around child poverty statistics and made the most significant increases in welfare support and public housing stock seen in many decades. “We’ve made it easier to access education and training while improving the pay and conditions of workers. And we’ve worked hard to make progress on issues around our national identify - I believe that teaching our history in schools and celebrating Matariki as our own indigenous national holiday will all make a difference for years to come. “And we’ve done that while responding to some of the biggest threats to the health and economic wellbeing of New Zealanders, arguably since World War Two. “The Labour team are incredibly well placed to contest the next election. They are the most experienced team in the country and have shown they have the skills necessary to respond to whatever comes their way. “I’m not leaving because I believe we can’t win the election, but because I believe Labour can and will win it. We need a fresh set of shoulders for the challenges of both this year and the next three. “As to my time in the job, I hope I leave New Zealanders with a belief that you can be kind, but strong, empathetic but decisive, optimistic but focused. And that you can be your own kind of leader - one who knows when it’s time to go,” Jacinda Ardern said. More here: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/jan/19/jacinda-ardern-resigns-as-prime-minister-of-new-zealand “I don’t want to leave the impression that the adversity you face in politics is the reason that people exit. Yes, it does have an impact. We are humans after all, but that was not the basis of my decision,” she said. Ardern said she had no future plans, other than to spend more time with her family. She thanked her partner, Clarke Gayford, and daughter Neve, whom she gave birth to while holding office, as “the ones that have sacrificed the most out of all of us”. 15. I seem to have posted the Jacinda Ardern article twice. Removing one copy.
  16. The huge amount of one-shoulder / one-sleeve garments on Y&R is absurd. And what is this with a one-shoulder cable-knit sweater? Nevertheless, she looks amazing.
  17. Later today Tuesday, Peacock fixed it and removed the repeated scenes.
  18. Happy Birthday (January 17) to James Earl Jones.
  19. Last year, there was a new nighttime soap on ABC, which got cancelled partway through its first season, and the first season finished up only on Hulu. It was not renewed after that. "The Promised Land", about a Mexican-American family who owns a California vineyard and winery. New series on Freeform "The Watchful Eye" debuts Jan. 30, 2023. It stars Mariel Molino (Carmen Sandoval from "The Promised Land") and Henry Joseph Samiri (Douglas Forrester from B&B). (Remember Henry took some time off from B&B in summer 2022 and Douglas was temporarily recast. That was when Henry was in Canada filming The Watchful Eye). Picture and biography of Mariel Molino from ABC's page for The Promised Land: https://web.archive.org/web/20220806023416/https://abc.com/shows/promised-land/cast/mariel-molino Blurb and trailer for The Watchful Eye: https://deadline.com/2023/01/the-watchful-eye-freeform-series-trailer-1235219269/
  20. Where is Karen? Still in New York? Has she been in touch with Douglas? I have questions.
  21. Tues. Jan 17, the episode seems to be 45 minutes long from the Peacock menu and it is but .. there's a seven-minute sequence of a bunch of short scenes that is repeated partway through, and then the episode finally continues. So you're not crazy if you are watching a few scenes and think "Didn't I just watch this?" So it's really only about 38 minutes of new material.
