(Jeffries gets to speak before McCarthy) Ha! Jeffries is Pelosi's replacement as Democrat leader, so he gets to speak first, and then turn the gavel over to McCarthy. Democrat Hakeem Jeffries is giving a formal speech on the House Floor at the podium. As the Minority Leader but wow, it sounds like a victory speech! Excellent speech! Really great speech! I'll post it as soon as it's up. Very inspiring! He just gave an alphabetical list of what the Democrats will do.

Bold & Beautiful - December 2022 Episode Counts And Overall Rankings
@jcar03 I don't usually track the child actors for B&B but this year I did as per my above post. I was going to go back on paramountplus to watch the episodes in which the children were supposed to have appeared, to verify before posting it here, but they took down the previous seasons from paramountplus.

FOURTEENTH vote for Speaker of the House More than 50% must agree for a Speaker to be chosen. Everyone showed up for this vote. The previously missing ones (Ken Buck and Wesley Hunt) have returned to the floor. 432 people on the floor, but because two people voted as "present", their votes don't count as votes for people. In this fourteenth round, 432 votes were cast for people, so the majority threshold needed for this round was 217. No nominee received more than half the votes cast for people, so nobody elected. People formally nominated for this 14th vote: Republican Kevin McCarthy Democrat Hakeem Jeffries Nobody else was formally nominated in the 14th round. Results of fourteenth vote: 216 votes - Republican Kevin McCarthy 212 votes - Democrat Hakeem Jeffries 2 votes for Jim Jordan (Republican from Ohio) . **** (but Jordan voted for McCarthy) -Those who voted for Jordan: -Andy Biggs (AZ) -Bob Good (VA) 2 votes for Andy Biggs (Republican from Arizona) . **** (but Biggs voted for Jordan) -Eli Crane (AZ) -Matt Rosendale (Montana) 2 votes as "present" -Lauren Boebert (CO) -Matt Gaetz (FL) 432 voted for people 2 did voted as "present". _______________ 434 total members-elect _________________ There was a motion to adjourn, which lost. It is after midnight Eastern Time. They are now voting on the FIFTEENTH vote.

Bold & Beautiful - December 2022 Episode Counts And Overall Rankings
@YRfan23 These are the notes I have on the child actors: Sophia Paras McKinlay began playing Steffy and Liam’s daughter Kelly in March. Remington Blaire Evans stepped in as a temporary replacement (in July) and then wrapped. (per SOD.) Sophia Paras McKinlay returned as Kelly -- at the Forrester family poolside party airing on August 24 and 25, 2022. The twins Cooper and Miles Kilian debuted as recast Hayes Forrester Finnegan -- at the same family party episodes. https://www.soapoperanews.net/2022/08/the-bold-and-beautiful-spoilers-for_19.html week of Sept 5, 2022 New twins (again!) to play Hayes. https://soaphub.com/bold-beautiful/comings-goings/the-bold-and-the-beautiful-comings-and-goings-kid-star-back/ Forrester family dinner scenes: Wed. Sept. 7, and Thurs. Sept. 8, 2022: Iliana and Vienna Norris air as Hayes Finnegan. Sophia Paras McKinley airs as Kelly Spencer. Django Ferri airs as Douglas Forrester . Finnegan scenes, Friday September 9, 2022: Iliana and Vienna Norris play Hayes Finnegan and Naomi Matsuda appears as Dr. Li Finnegan. (I didn't watch every episode so I can't vouch for every appearance, but that's when they were supposed to have appeared). Henry Joseph Samiri returned as Douglas Forrester on October 10. (He had been in Canada taping another show but that completed). December 2022: Beth Spencer has been recast with Jordyn Lynn Ariza. She replaced River Davidson in the role. Jordyn(Beth) and Sophia(Kelly) were in the Christmas episode(s), along with Henry(Douglas). I saw baby Hayes' Christmas stocking but I didn't see him. @dragonflies do you know if Hayes aired at Christmastime?

These ultra-creepy racist homophobic people are holding the House hostage and demanding that Kevin McCarthy give them concessions in exchange for their vote. The House (or should I say "the unofficial House" since nobody is sworn in) ... .... is adjourned until 10pm Eastern today Friday. McCarthy thinks he can do more wheeling and dealing with the horrible people in the meantime.

THIRTEENTH vote for Speaker of the House More than 50% must agree for a Speaker to be chosen. In the THIRTEENTH round, 2 persons did NOT vote: Republican Ken Buck of Colorado and Republican Wesley Hunt of Texas. This means that 432 of the 434 members voted. No nominee received more than half the votes cast, so nobody elected. I had to go away from my computer for a while, and just returned. I see that the official tally was announced for the twelfth vote. I see that three people didn't vote (not two as originally assumed by the media.). McCarthy vote total corrected. I've corrected my tally of the 12th vote at this post: https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/28724-the-politics-thread/?do=findComment&comment=1830898 Now I have to get caught up to see what happened with the 13th vote while I was out.

They've started round THIRTEEN. Each round, different people from each party have risen to officially nominate the various Republican nominees for Speaker. I've looked up the political positions of the nominators and they're scary. It's all rather terrifying that these people are in government.

The ultra far-right "freedom" caucus wants to take away our freedoms. They agreed to vote for McCarthy if he puts them in key positions on committees and lets them set the agenda. This is not funny. This is the politics of hate.

TWELFTH vote for Speaker of the House More than 50% of those voting must agree for a Speaker to be chosen. In the TWELFTH round, 3 persons did NOT vote: Republican Ken Buck of Colorado, Republican Wesley Hunt of Texas, and Democrat David Trone of Maryland. This means that 431 of the 434 members voted. Since 431 voting - then only 216 votes needed and not 218. No nominee received more than half the votes cast, so nobody elected. People formally nominated for this vote: Republican Kevin McCarthy Democrat Hakeem Jeffries Kevin Hern (Republican from Oklahoma) Jim Jordan (Republican from Ohio) Big news: Victoria Spartz of Indiana voted McCarthy (and not "present" as she had been). Byron Donalds has dropped out of the nomination. He voted for McCarthy. His supporters voted for McCarthy, Hern, and Jordan. Results of twelfth vote: 213 votes - Republican Kevin McCarthy 211 votes - Democrat Hakeem Jeffries 3 votes for Kevin Hern (Republican from Oklahoma) . **** (but Hern voted for McCarthy) Lauren Boebert (CO) Eli Crane (AZ) Matt Rosendale (Montana) 4 votes for Jim Jordan (Republican from Ohio) . **** (but Jordan voted for McCarthy) Andy Biggs (AZ) Matt Gaetz (FL) Bob Good (VA) Andy Harris (Maryland) Zero votes as "present" (Victoria Spartz of Indiana voted McCarthy). 3 persons did NOT vote: Republican Ken Buck of Colorado, Republican Wesley Hunt of Texas, and Democrat David Trone of Maryland. ________________ 434 total members. All are still technically "members-elect" because they can't be sworn in as members until after a Speaker is chosen. (They are still doing the official tallying; so one or two votes might be adjusted if an error is found, but still not enough to elect McCarthy). _ EDIT after final tally. To correct that three members didn't vote, not two as I had thought.

. . . does the speaker have to be a member of the House? The Constitution is silent on that question, saying simply, "The House of Representatives shall chuse (sic) their Speaker and other Officers." https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/can-outsider-be-speaker-house-n441926 "the Speaker—who has always been (but is not required to be) a House Member" https://history.house.gov/People/Office/Speakers-Intro/ EVERY Speaker of the House in US history has been a member of the House. Update: Gaetz formally nominated Trump to be Speaker. Really.- The Politics Thread

According to the NY Times, a nominee could win the speakership with fewer than 218 votes by persuading lawmakers who do not want to support him/her ... choose instead vote "present" or to not vote at all. I thought it required 218 votes which is more than 50% of the seats. But apparently I was mistaken. The winner is whoever receives more than 50% of those who cast a vote for a person. ("Present" doesn't count as a vote for a person.) This is one reason why the Dems remain and keep voting. - The Media/Journalism Thread
