  1. A lot of soap stars (and people) have trended hard right over recent years, though there have always been many quietly conservative actors in soaps. With MB I think it has to do with her husband. I'll always enjoy and appreciate her performances, though I find her politics reprehensible. Hopefully someday she'll come to her senses, but I have no sympathy for her spouse.
  2. Making Vanessa Nicole's BFF was clearly a lateral shift to make room for Cady/Pamela. I'm not convinced it works either, but I do think DD has good chemistry with LB. I do think Pamela can and should have a place on the canvas, as I think her family would be far more interesting to build out than Derek and Ashley. Hopefully it will get sorted out.
  3. HBO/Max's The Pitt has employed another soap alum. In the latest sign of the inexorable march of time towards the heat death of the universe, Jessica Morris (Jen Rappaport, OLTL) is now somehow playing the mom of a teenager. I'm going to go preemptively bury myself in the cold earth.
  4. I think if those cuts were meant to be gimmicks they wouldn't be so low-key. They remind me a bit of how many GH episodes last spring and summer would end very quietly bc the show was in constant BTS turmoil. I don't think that's the case here, but I do think they were experiencing clear early birth pangs at BTG in this period. The hard cuts to black and commercial are not new for soaps - the Guza II, Frank Valentini, etc. GH has practiced them for decades now. The only difference is that many of BTG's are currently on quiet or low-key scenes. I think that will likely change as the show gets more of its sea legs.
  5. And Jesse was terrible on it!
  6. I would literally bring it back unchanged. I don't care. Sax is back! Here's a clip:
  7. That amount of talent allegedly in the mix with this show and the people they ended up with is embarrassing.
  8. Oh good lord. It's got to come back. I'm done with the excuses, Frank!
  9. They've really amped up the affection between Martin and Smitty (must we still call him that) while BC has improved considerably. They're genuinely cute together.
  10. Both she and Daphnee have sold it! It is honestly hysterical to watch tbh but I am just glad P&G is clearly that invested.
  11. I almost did it for Nicole's Febreze ad a few eps ago. I'm glad I waited!
  12. The Febreze testimonial from Nicole and Anita yesterday was one for the ages. WOST's classic episodes from the Golden Age would be proud. @DRW50 will be pleased to know P&G has not let their advertising instincts slacken since 1955. (Not my tweet)
  13. I know Jean Marsh best for playing the evil Queen Bavmorda in Willow - she traumatized me as a child! But she was so great, such a voice, and had two immortal roles in Doctor Who, particularly the ever-enigmatic Sara Kingdom. What a career. She'll be missed.
  14. As I've said before, my only reason to bring back Jax (recast) would be to bring on a prominent and substantial love interest for Lois. Rena Sofer needs a real story of her own and Jax could be part of that. But so could a new character.
  15. I think Angel Square worked, but I also think it was very much of the time and often preachy even In hyper-earnest times. Some of it is very dated today. The same obviously goes for the evolving attitudes re: Todd. It seems alien now but it was conventional wisdom at the time.
  16. A very important conversation about eczema and psoriasis, with Maurice Benard. I'm out! DG looks good and I've never been averse to bringing him back, but I still think something serious must have gone down there for him to totally vanish from daytime.
  17. Joanna Going (AW, Dark Shadows '91) recurs on Season 1 of The Pitt as the mother of a troubled teen. I didn't recognize her.
  18. I think so! It's been a long time since I heard any of this but the vague recollection I have is that was why they constantly spotlit him in the mags. "We demand more of fan favorite Daniel McVicar!" I could be wrong.
  19. Ironically, being put with Traci (a fan favorite for decades) was probably his best shot at more security. He was very foolish to pull what he did.
  20. Lord, I remember the stories about Daniel McVicar constantly leaking to the mags. I still suspect the role is short-term here but who knows.
  21. There are things to make a fuss over BTS. His troubles were not it.
  22. Putting aside the Beth Maitland thing (which was enough), there was the whole banner-flying stunt when he got rightly fired by Maria Arena Bell a number of years prior and managed to weep and plead and get his job back, tanking more of the story for several characters. I think he may also have organized against his one other interesting storyline (his affair during SSM's tenure).
  23. Exactly. I don't know why Zimmer is the one getting smoke for the entire cast (especially given the above). I found plenty of her antics annoying BITD but I am never going to fault her for a) standing by her contract against Wheeler or b) doing what she could for Zaslow.
  24. Samantha is talented enough that I can handle her being in the Bianca Lawson zone, for now.
  25. I shudder to consider Muhney's rating from his young students. Dozens of people have vowed they will never work for FV again shortly before doing so.
