  1. This, in a nutshell, is my total problem with his channel: he is not shifting perception of the genre in any positive way, he's actually doing the opposite. People may think I am being ridiculous by stating this, but I have often wondered whether someone looking to go into some of these shows' classic libraries (ATWT/GL, for example) and re-consider because of the sagging numbers. I really do believe that archives like the Vault started by members of this message board sparked B&B to start releasing classic episodes via their YouTube channel, as well as PlutoTV starting a Y&R channel (although what they stream is far from the classics). Someone is always watching the numbers. They make considerations based on what they perceived as sparking interest and why they don't believe will. Fortunately for fans of Y&R and B&B, Days, etc., What Locher does or doesn't do on his channel won't affect the prospects of these soaps, one way or another since other vehicles have clearly proven that the interest is there but for fans of those poor abandoned P&G soaps, amateurish productions that get the slimmest of view counts only serves to confirm their judgements that few people care about these soaps. It really is crazy that he hasn't done a thing to try to improve. Can he not see the numbers? He now has like, less than half his average view count from last year's episodes.
  2. Reading how the Tories could lose Shropshire to the (*looks closely*) Liberal Democrats, makes me wonder whether there are signs of life from that Party, or is it solely based on contempt for Johnson? Oops, that's North Shropshire.
  3. It's not Fulton, it's Locher. His video views have dropped over several months and the drop off has been fairly consistent. Not only is his channel failing to attract new viewers, it's turning away those who used to be interested enough to click on to watch.
  4. As we enter another anniversary of the horrendous school shooting of first graders at a school in Newtown CT, something has to be done. If it's considered a radical step, so be it. I don't know whether it will be successful, be we can just resign ourselves to the next school shooting.
  5. If the Eileen Davidson livestream can't draw more than 10K views in 48 hours, then his program has really fallen off.
  6. Thanks. At the time, it seemed as if I was being hard on Y&R (admittedly, I was) but it also felt like the push back against what I was trying to say was defending Y&R's shabby treatment of an actor who had given so much to the show. Personally, I know it's not exactly healthy to have your self-worth tied to a show but in such a crucial time, it may have been the one lifeline that he could have felt he was able to hold onto and the idea of that still kind of haunts me.
  7. That was a good interview, but man, you all were right about the segment on KSJ, it was sad to get an account of his final days and how he had suffered. I still have yet to see the KSJ documentary. I had hoped it would be on Netflix or an easily accessible streaming platform. Has anybody seen the documentary?
  8. I suggested this years ago. Not the bi-polar diagnosis but the fact that, having spent so much of his life on Y&R, it was tied up in his identity and seeing his role reduced had a deleterious effect on him, not to mention a job gave structure and purpose to his days, he could have used that, particularly after he lost his son, but people kept suggesting that it was best that he wasn't working at that time.
  9. I blame Vogue magazine. Somewhere along SATC's early '00s run, the magazine decided that Carrie/SJP was their "It Girl", then 'It Queen' and it has yet to stop.
  10. What struck me was that, with the silver locs, Rowell and Kasi Lemmons now share a sort of sisterly resemblance, which takes me back to when both women once portrayed the same character on As The World Turns in the 1980s. Now, if Tiffani Caesar shows up with blonde-ish or silvery locs, I will fall out! 😆
  11. What are your thoughts on this? Do you believe this strategy will be effective? Or will the calculus change now that this tactic is being used against the U.S.' long running affair with gun rights?
  12. Apparently, Cattrall favorited a tweet that shaded the first episode.
  13. LOL. Someone in the replies said Peloton responded faster to Mr. Big than Carrie calling 9-1-1.
  14. That photo is obviously from before Hubbard would portray Lucinda but Potter is listed as having been a Producer on ATWT, according to both IMDB and Wikipedia but the dates are not clear.
  15. One post-script on Darlene Hard. She was part of one of the most iconic images in tennis, if not sports.
  16. Oh, just Victoria Rowell being stunning. @DRW50 You're gonna make me watch an episode of SNL now? I may have to watch a replay of this one.
  17. Probably not. Samantha was pretty unapologetic whenever she made a politically incorrect comment, she would say something like "what's the big deal?" Samantha wouldn't have felt embarrassed at all.
  18. There's a guy who interviewed Scott Bryce a few months ago. His live stream ran a bit long but he's so much better than Locher as a host/interviewer. I wish he could interview Tunie. Scott Bryce and Tamara Tunie are good friends, so maybe Scott could connect the two?
  19. I wish the guy who did the interview with Scott Bryce (son of TGL's Ed Bryce) a few months ago would take on more soap actors, he was really good, though his live stream was a bit over-long. My guess is that he knows Bryce personally and wanted to have him on the show.
  20. The reviews are bad but the franchise seems to have a devoted following, so there's that.
  21. I was surprised by the number of people who are upset that there wasn't more V.O. by Carrie. I really didn't notice, then again, I am not a big fan of the device, it always struck me as something of a "cheat code", like using too much music in scenes to try to wring emotional depth in the absence of effective writing. I do wonder whether killing off Big had more to do with Chris Noth not wanting to be a full-time series regular than it did wanting to "Go Big" story-wise by deciding that 'Big had to go'? It's fascinating to critique shows, both well and poorly executed, you learn a lot from both (obviously you learn more from the ones that are well done). In grad school, I took a Writing For The Sitcom course and one of the assignments was to watch and take notes on at least one terrible sitcom. It's far more interesting though, to watch one that used to have a successful execution, but no longer does than one that's merely terrible. Maybe this one get better (It's unlikely that I will stick with it to find out) but so far, the most unfortunate part of this limited series is that it's well, just not funny overall, with the exception of a few limited bits (which was mostly Miranda, tbh and the funeral attendee who wondered aloud if she was the only one who remembered how shîtty Big was to Carrie). Even if it's a dramedy, you still have to have at least equal parts comedy. MPK could have done with bingeing a couple seasons of The Golden Girls to see how it's done. The cleverness of early SATC was that it never took itself too seriously. I think this time around probably struggling to be relevant and all things to all people, this series took itself too seriously. It's not even about killing Big (we get it, Carrie, like Samantha, was always a character who was meant to be "free") but the biggest shame is the humor wasn't there. From a writer's standpoint, it's so fascinating to me though. I think I may be the only one that thinks so though, lol.
  22. That's why I asked whether they plan to go on or will this end after 10 episodes. Obviously, if the 10 episodes are "it", there is no need to address Stanford Blatch's portrayers loss, but with the SATC franchise, we've already witnessed that it never seems to be the end. As bad as that Divorce series that SJP did with THC, even that got a second season, so one never knows.
  23. When the 'merely wealthy' son of a senator takes great pains to carry water for the uber-wealthy. Add to this, the fact that it is also in direct conflict with the tax proposals of his own father gives a snapshot as to why the legislative changes needed to reform the corporate tax and the non-existent inheritance tax proposals are so difficult to make a reality. https://news.yahoo.com/rift-between-senator-son-shows-131045619.html
