B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
Technically, he's correct. "Changing forever" is emphasized by the latter word "forever" whereas "never be the same" means it won't be the same without Finn since "same" means nothing is changing. So things are changing and the show won't be the same. If he said "change forever" it would imply Finn could never come back. ^^^ = me thinking to much about other people's words.

ARTICLE: Greg Vaughan Back to ‘Days of our Lives’ for a More Permanent Stay
Actor Greg Vaughan is once again returning to “Days of our Lives” as Eric Brady, and this time he’s back for a more permanent stay beginning Friday, April 15 when Eric has an encounter with his ex-wife, Nicole (Arianne Zucker). In a conversation with Vaughan, posted on the show’s official YouTube channel, Zucker sat down with the actor to discuss his return and why this time it’s for good. Citing the desire to work as one reason, Vaughan said, “Making a few brief moments over the course of the last couple of years since I really left, just that window of opportunity was just like, ‘Man, what are you doing?’ ‘Hey, you want to come back for six months?’ And then I think there is a lot of unresolved issues between Eric and family, and Nicole, obviously.” As for how it feels to be back, Vaughan notes it’s like he never left. “I think it’s always so comfortable to be here and to be amongst people – because we’ve always had the ability to come and go, or explore opportunities or make changes in our life, and just being back here it feels good.” In the latest issue of TV Guide, on newsstands now, the magazine teases Eric and Nicole’s encounter, revealing that Nicole has a nightmare that she and her boyfriend Rafe (Galen Gering) are shot by Rafe’s vengeful ex, Ava (Tamara Braun) which only makes her seeing Eric that more interesting. Vaughan last appeared on the soap during the Christmas episodes when his character was on hand to help exorcize Marlena (Deidre Hall) who had been possessed by the Devil. ARTICLE: ‘The Real’ to Conclude After Eight Seasons
After weeks of rumors, “The Real” will conclude its run after eight seasons in daytime syndication. The talk show is hosted by Garcelle Beauvais, Adrienne Houghton, Loni Love and Jeannie Mai Jenkins, and currently ranks 14th out of 15 shows in the segment among television households, averaging a mere 0.3 rating during the most recent week in which figures are available (week of March 21-25, 2022). According to Deadline, the upcoming launch of “The Jennifer Hudson Show” is reportedly not the reason for the show’s demise even though its core station group, the FOX Stations, is set to carry the new talk show on their fall 2022 schedules. Instead, the group decided it was best to not continue with the veteran talk show for another season, likely due to poor ratings. “In the end ‘The Real’ cast & crew did everything we could to scale the show down..We shot 7-8 shows in 3 days, no audience, made a conference room into a studio, but in my opinion Covid costs killed this show.. it’s been a great ride and thanks to the viewers for 8 great seasons!” said Love on Twitter following the show’s cancellation. “It as a fun ride!! Got to work with an group of amazing women and crew,” commented Beauvais. Produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Telepictures Productions and distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, “The Real” is the latest syndicated series to receive its walking papers, joining “The Wendy Williams Show,” “The Nick Cannon Show,” “Maury,” “Dr. Oz,” “DailyMailTV,” “The Good Dish,” “Judge Jerry,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “The Doctors.” During its run, “The Real” received three Daytime Emmy Awards and two NAACP Image Awards. ARTICLE: ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Renewed for Seasons 31 and 32, Show Moving to Disney+
Receiving its first multi-year renewal in some time, “Dancing with the Stars” will be back for Seasons 31 and 32. However, the show will be leaving ABC after a 16-year run and will be heading to Disney+ beginning this fall, marking the first time a live series will air on the streaming service and the first live-streaming reality show to air in the U.S. and Canada. The competition series debuted in the summer of 2005 with “General Hospital” actress Kelly Monaco winning the first Mirror Ball trophy and has occupied ABC’s Monday night schedule for 15 years. First reported by Deadline, ABC informed its affiliate stations this morning that as part of its fall scheduling plans going forward it will be airing several “Monday Night Football” games and will be developing and investing in new and future programming to air on Monday nights. Courtesy of ABC Early in its run, “Dancing with the Stars” aired two cycles per season, one in the fall and one in the spring. Beginning in the fall of 2019, the show switched to one cycle to help reduce oversaturation and heed a loss in viewership. Beginning in fall 2020, Tyra Banks was named the show’s sole host. She replaced Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews. Making the decision was the show’s now former executive producer Andrew Llinares who departed in March. A new EP has yet to be named while Banks is, for now, it seems, expected to continue as the show’s host. “Karma’s a bitch,” wrote Bergeron on Twitter following Llinares’ exit. “After over 30 seasons of the program on ABC, including two spin-offs, ‘Dancing with the Stars’ will move off of ABC this fall in order for the Network to showcase several ‘Monday Night Football’ games as well as develop and invest in new and future programming,” read the networks note to its affiliates. “‘Dancing with the Stars’ has entertained fans for 16 years on ABC, and we are excited to bring this beloved show exclusively to Disney+ as the platform’s first-ever live series,” said Kareem Daniel, chairman, Disney media and entertainment distribution. “The show’s broad appeal, as well as the overwhelming popularity of its Disney-themed competition nights, make Disney+ the perfect home for ‘Dancing with the Stars’ while continuing to expand our demographic reach.” “‘Dancing with the Stars’ has been a beloved staple on ABC for 30 seasons and brought so much joy to millions of viewers,” said Dana Walden, Chairman of Entertainment, Walt Disney Television. “As we’re significantly expanding our unscripted slate at ABC, this is a great opportunity to introduce this show to a whole new generation of fans on Disney+. We’re so grateful to our incredible partners at BBC Studios and look forward to continuing our relationship with them on this spectacular series, which will continue to be overseen by Rob Mills and the talented Walt Disney Television Alternative team.” In its reporting, Deadline notes that affiliates will get to voice their opinions on the loss of “Dancing with the Stars” during the ABC Affiliate Meeting on Wednesday, May 18, one day after the network unveils its fall 2022 schedule to advertisers. ARTICLE: ‘BOLD Live’ Schedules Special Live Viewer Reaction Episode
“BOLD Live,” the only official talk show that gives fans of “The Bold and the Beautiful” the opportunity to consistently interact with their favorite actors by way of picking up the phone, dialing a number and talking to them live on air, will feature a special live viewer reaction episode on Friday, April 8 at 7:00 p.m. ET/4:00 p.m. PT on the show’s YouTube channel. The series is hosted by the daytime drama’s supervising producer Casey Kasprzyk. Fans of the show are currently in an uproar following the recent twist in which Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) accidentally shot and killed her son, Finn (Tanner Novlan) after he came upon her as she was preparing to shoot his wife, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), who herself was confronting Sheila over her involvement in breaking Brooke’s (Katherine Kelly Lang) sobriety. Begging for her life, Steffy didn’t have time to mourn the loss of her husband as Sheila also shot her, leaving the couple laying in a pool of their own blood in an alleyway. Thankfully, Deacon (Sean Kanan) came upon the pair and called for help. Sadly, medical couldn’t revive Finn while Steffy is currently lying unconscious in the hospital with her family standing by her side praying for a miracle. To set yourself a reminder to tune in to the show, click here. In addition to silly games and show clips, “BOLD Live” gives fans the chance to watch, text and chat with one another as they provide their own input on the ongoing discussion between scheduled guests and Kasprzyk. The series is produced directly from the offices and dressing rooms (where available) at Television City where “The Bold and the Beautiful” is produced. ARTICLE: FOX Announces Four-Week Test Run of ‘TMZ HIP HOP’
FOX has slotted a four-week test run of “TMZ HIP HOP,” a new syndicated series that puts the spotlight on the biggest icons from the genre and hip hop culture – their friendships, feuds, vacations, love lives, lifestyles and so much more. The show will debut Monday, April 11 on FOX stations in the 10 major markets – New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, Houston, D.C., Seattle, Phoenix and Minneapolis. Check local listings for time. Hosted by a panel of hip hop and entertainment aficionados, including Amber Diamond, DJ Hed, Cynthia Luciette, Rodney Rikai and Tonio Skits, the group will sit down every weekday spilling the tea while providing their own takes on the hottest topics. “‘TMZ HIP HOP’ is long overdue, and yet, right on time. We’re on the heels of what I’d argue is one of hip hop’s biggest pop culture moments – Dr. Dre’s incredible Super Bowl halftime show – which reminded the world how much the genre is beloved,” said the show’s executive producer Charles Latibeaudiere in a statement. “The fact is, it’s been that way for 30, almost 40 years … so, it’s beyond time for a show all about the personalities who’ve made hip hop a worldwide phenomenon. And, I have to say … this group loves talking about it, they have a lot of fun.” In addition to Latibeaudiere, Trent Clark and Jess Fusco serve as co-executive producers. In a follow-up to our report over the weekend, producers of “DailyMailTV” have made it official: the daily syndicated newsmagazine from Stage 29 Productions will wrap its fifth and final season this summer. During the week of March 21-25, 2022, the most recent week in which syndication ratings are available, “DailyMailTV” averaged a 0.5 household rating among magazine shows which is on par with its recent outings. Of the seven shows in that segment, “DailyMailTV” ranks sixth with “Dish Nation” coming in last place with a paltry 0.2 rating. “Inside Edition” led with a 2.0 rating followed by “Entertainment Tonight” in second with a 1.8 rating and “Access Hollywood” with a 0.8 rating to place third. The show is distributed by CBS Media Ventures with Carla Pennington, Jay McGraw, Dr. Phil McGraw, Jeffrey Wilson, Eric Beesemyer and Martin Clarke serving as executive producers. ARTICLE: Daytime Broadcast Ratings for the Week of March 28-April 1, 2022
One year ago this week, Soap Opera Network began reporting an abbreviated version of the daytime broadcast ratings which included just the Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 demos. A few weeks later, we were able to add back Total Viewers and Households. Therefore, this week marks the first time since the week of February 28-March 4, 2022 that we’re able to use year-to-year comparisons, albeit only for the aforementioned demographics. Comparisons for Households and Total Viewers will return in a few weeks. During the week of March 28-April 1, 2022, ABC’s “The View” (2.726 million) and CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.960 million) were the big winners week to week in Women 18-49 rating, each up +0.05. Year to year, however, both half hours of “Let’s Make a Deal” (2.551 million/2.903 million) gained the most of any daytime broadcast series, up +0.07/+0.06, respectively. The second half-hour of “Deal” and “The View” tied for sixth place in Women 18-49, each with a 0.34 rating. In Women 25-54, “The View” gained the most of any daytime broadcast series week to week, up +0.13 to a 0.50 rating with the show ranking eighth for the week in the demo. One week earlier, the talk show ranked 10th. The rest of daytime broadcast also saw increases which translated into higher than normal averages among Total Viewers for all but “Days of our Lives” (1.663 million) and “The Talk” (1.591 million). Despite minor increases week to week the two shows were on par with their recent performances among viewers. In the demos, however, each saw improvement. In fact, the NBC soap has been distancing itself from both CBS’ talk show and ABC’s “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (1.806 million) in both demos since returning to originals following its February Olympics hiatus and is now inching closer to its better rated soap rivals demographically. Among Total Viewers, “Let’s Make a Deal” and “The Price is Right” (4.111 million/4.686 million) posted their best weekly averages since the week of February 21-25, 2022. “The Young and the Restless” (3.601 million) posted its best weekly average since the week of January 17-21, 2022, and “B&B” posted its best weekly average since the week of February 7-11, 2022. “The Talk” had its best week since the week of February 14-18, 2022. “General Hospital” (2.206 million) had its best weekly average among Total Viewers since the week of February 21-25, 2022. “GMA3: What You Need to Know” had its best weekly average among viewers since the week of January 3-7, 2022, drawing its second-largest audience of the season. Note: Viewing levels were hitting multi-year highs in 2020 during the initial shutdown of the country due to COVID-19. Year to Year comparisons among Households and Total Viewers are currently unavailable due to a gap in data being shared with Soap Opera Network one year earlier. Comparable 2020 figures for “GMA3: What Need to Know” are based on the performance of “Pandemic: What You Need to Know.” The current iteration was rebranded effective June 2020. Demos for “The Talk” are available as the show was not rated by Nielsen during the comparable week in 2021. “The View” aired reruns during the comparable week last year. ARTICLE: ‘The View’ Hits a Season High Across the Board, Increasing Substantially Year Over Year
The 25th season of ABC’s “The View” started off rough with numbers below the show’s year ago performance nearly every week. Things changed, however, during the week of March 28-April 1, 2022 when the daytime talk show attracted its largest overall audience in more than a year (since the week of March 15, 2021), according to figures shared by ABC via Nielsen. With 2.727 million viewers tuning in, the gabfest hosted by Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro was daytime broadcast’s sixth most watched series out of 13 shows, up from 10th place one week earlier. In fact, along with CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful,” the show was the biggest gainer in Women 18-49 rating among all of daytime broadcast with an increase of +0.05 in the key sales demo week to week. For the week, the talk show ranked seventh with a 0.34 rating, up from 10th place one week earlier. Among Women 25-54 rating, the show was again up the most week to week among all daytime broadcast shows with an increase of +0.13, placing the show in eighth place overall, up from 11th one week earlier. In actuals, 308,000 viewers fell in the Women 25-54 demographic with 225,000 viewers falling in the Women 18-49 demo. Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines and Sunny Hostin (“The View”) Photo by Jenny Anderson/ABC On Monday (3/28/22), “The View” scored its top telecast in Total Viewers (3.076 million), Women 25-54 (425,000) and Women 18-49 (302.000) in more than one year — since 3/8/21, 3/8/21 and 2/19/21, respectively. The episode featured guest Jimmy Fallon (“The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”) and the popular “View Your Deal” segment which highlights the hottest items at affordable prices. Compared to the same week last year when the show aired reruns all week, “The View” showed improvement in Total Viewers (+72% – 2.727 million vs. 1.587 million), Women 25-54 (+29% – 308,000 vs. 238,000) and Women 18-49 (+30% – 225,000 vs. 173,000). DAYS: March 2022 Episode Rankings & Stats
Thanks, Jason! March was clearly the month for Johnny Devil. Ironically, because the show wasn't originally supposed to be off for two weeks in February, who's to say the rankings would have turned out this way?

ARTICLE: CBS Lineup to Be Preempted Again for More ‘UEFA Champions League’ Games
Networks don't necessarily alert their shows of scheduling changes that far in advance, particularly daytime. When I first learned of the UEFA scheduling issue in February it wasn't too far off from when the soaps did as well. I believe only "The Talk" had some advance notice, but not by much.

Star Trek: Picard
True. Thanks for the reminder. Let's just hope the ending is tight and leaves no loose ends. Glad to see the original Next Generation cast on all at one time. That's the Trek I grew up with and have always loved above all.

Star Trek: Picard
Got the PR and scratched my head which is why I'm of the concerned category. Every time a streamer calls a show a "hit" and it ends with just three seasons I question that word time and time again. Even if the series ender is a fitting end, you don't just end a hit show with just 30 episodes. Other than a streamer where else can it thrive? Who says streaming will be the thing it is today in 10 years? Owning your own property is only good when it comes to sign ups but then you hit a plateau which is what is happening to Netflix now.

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
When you put it like that, yeah, this is a dumb as hell plot point. How can one kill their own child, however unintentional it was just because you re-labeled a bottle? Plus, just because Brooke didn't know she was drinking alcohol initially doesn't mean any real alcoholic or even passive drinker can't tell when they are drinking something with liquor in it and when they aren't. She tasted it and continued drinking because she liked the taste. In the real world she would have stopped and probably sued the manufacturer for selling actual booze. She would have lost and probably would have gotten counter sued which would have caused her havoc in that regard but to have this be the outcome. Yeah, no. This story is dumb as hell. Dumb as hell.

Y&R and B&B April (and late March) spoilers
I think I figured out the secret. I think some of you called it but I believe the producers are right in that it hasn’t been done in daytime before. It’s a wild twist. Actually very intriguing. AND it makes sense why the show is dark for the next two weeks. This way the actors won’t be commenting on the story when the twist is finally revealed since they’re on vacation right now.

REPORT: Decision On The Futures Of ‘The Doctors’ And ‘DailyMailTV’ Being Discussed
UPDATE: On the same day CBS Media Ventures announced the renewal of “The Drew Barrymore Show” for a third season, the syndication arm of Paramount Global is reportedly mulling a decision on the future of "The Doctors" which has been a syndication staple since its debut 14 seasons ago. Meanwhile, sources tell Soap Opera Network that despite an earlier report by Deadline, the future of "DailyMailTV" will not be decided by CMV which distributes the show nationally. In fact, neither series has been officially canceled. In its updated report, Deadline notes that executives at “DailyMailTV” are in the midst of deciding whether to continue with the show for a sixth season. Hosted by Thomas Roberts with Alicia Quarles serving as Senior News Correspondent, the daily syndicated newsmagazine from Stage 29 Productions brings the best of the world’s most popular newspaper website, DailyMail.com to life on television with exclusive stories to breaking news, showbiz, crime, health, science and technology. The series launched in 2017 and at the time was the highest-rated national debut of any syndicated newsmagazine since 2007. The show won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Entertainment News Program in 2019 “The Doctors” premiered in 2008 and is hosted by board-certified plastic surgeon and series veteran Dr. Andrew Ordon. The hour-long syndicated program returned to the studio this season with the theme “A Prescription For A Better You,” designed to inspire and empower viewers to take control of their health and wellness. The show won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show/Informative in 2010, receiving six additional nominations in the category. Also from Stage 29 Productions, the show is distributed by CMV with Jay McGraw, Carla Pennington, Patricia Ciano and Dr. Phillip C. McGraw serving as executive producers. Both McGraw’s and Pennington also serve as EPs on “The Doctors,” among a host of others. During the week of March 14-18, 2022, the most week recent in which syndication ratings are available, “The Doctors” averaged a mere 0.2 household rating, ranking last among all daytime talk shows (out of 15 shows) while “DailyMailTV” averaged a 0.5 household rating among magazine shows. Of the seven shows, “DailyMailTV” only outranks “Dish Nation” in households. In recent weeks, syndication has seen the cancellations of “The Nick Cannon Show,” “The Good Dish,” “Maury0” and “Judge Jerry.” Rumored to also be exiting the market is “The Real” from Warner Bros. ARTICLE: CBS Lineup to Be Preempted Again for More ‘UEFA Champions League’ Games
CBS will once again preempt its daytime lineup, particularly on the West Coast, over four non-consecutive days for live coverage of “UEFA Champions League” games beginning Tuesday, April 5 and Wednesday, April 6; and again on Tuesday, April 12 and Wednesday, April 13. The preemptions will primarily impact the West Coast airings of “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” while “Let’s Make a Deal” will be impacted in markets where it is regularly scheduled to air after “The Talk.” The daytime talk show will not broadcast on either coast on the aforementioned dates as it is preempted nationally. Only “The Price is Right” will air uninterrupted. The games will begin at 3:00 p.m. ET on CBS and via streaming service Paramount+ with each showing different teams playing in the competition. A pre-game show, “UEFA Champions League Today,” will air at 2:00 p.m. ET in place of “The Talk” which will be fully preempted. Viewers living in markets impacted by the preemptions can keep up with the latest episodes which will be made available on the CBS App, CBS.com, and Paramount+, or check local listings for overnight airings.
