Well, fiddle dee dee. I've been thinking of John and Marlena as married, but they are not. She divorced him so she could marry Alex. Now she is a widow or married to a missing man. Considering that, she has every right to ask John to give her space. Poor John. But, it will all work out in the end.

I think what they've had Marlena do is excellent. It's the only way for people to start seeing Marlena as a human woman again and not some caricature. The things they've made her do in the past ten to fifteen years have warped that character so much that she's become a campy figure, and that has to be fixed, and you can't do it with just more dry humping with John on the couch.

Marlena's story is the best story she has had in years already.

I'm sorry, but this just stopped me dead in my tracks. I understand your enthusiasm and what you're essentially pointing out, but she's been back for two days. It's really jumping the gun to label this her "best story in years." It's not even a story at this point. However, it's funny...As far as ranking her recent storylines, you'd be hard-pressed not to label this one her best. I can't think of a good storyline she's been involved in since the Kristin/Susan saga.

Like a lot of people, I think it is great for Marlena to come home and address the fact that her life has been spiraling out of control shall we say! I'm glad the writers didn't just act like her and John could just come home and pretend nothing had happened. I hope we see both get back to "normal" lives for a while, and slowly work there way back together. I'm sure we will see John get back involved with helping Bo and Steve out, and Marlena can begin her practice again.

I also enjoyed seeing Belle do the right thing today. She is John and Marlena's daughter and should be a heroine that we all want to root for on the show. JER tried to ruin most of the heriones on the show so hopefully we will begin to see Hope and Carrie become strong women with values again. I loved Belle today and just hope that this is a sign of things to come for her.

I think we saw a lot of signs this week that JER is definitely gone. I know I'm not going to like everything the writers choose to do. I just hope that I begin to recognize my favorites characters again.

I meant it is the best potential story in years for Marlena. The idea is great and that is what I am pointing out. They always have Marlena involved in something far out or something where John and her have to fight someone a la Stefano and Kristen. It is so nice to see Marlena struggling to be on her own and to stop being dependent on someone else. Days is making an effort here to do something that is character-driven and that involved character development-WOW haven't said in a while. I know it has only been 2 days but them two days were enough for me to say that this story is going good and where it should be going.

I agree 100%

Loved the Jack and Jennifer scenes(when they were alone/with abby).Frankie is pathetic..."what's so funny?" - get the clue and get out.

I love the potential of Marlena's story because even though she still loves John very much, she feels like she has no respect for herself. John even feels that she needs him to protect her, and that has not always been the case. This story will make their love grow, because he will relearn to respect her strenth and independence, which is what ultimately attracted him to her in the first place.

That, and the fact that they thought he was Roman.

Tell me about it! But what irked me more is that he KNEW 'what was so funny.' Remember, he was EAVESDROPPING.

And, like how men are now written on soaps, all John thought he had to do was screw her and she would change her mind. She got some, and still told him "This changes nothing." That was my favorite scene. John has now figured out that his crotch is not some magic wand that will have Marlena in a trance.

Thanks for pointing that out, Roman. John really WAS cocky - pardon the pun - about his power over Marlena, WASN'T he?!! Ugh. Thankfully, like you said, he now realizes that Marlena can do without that cock!

Oh, she'll call him over for a booty call every now and then, just to keep the home fires burning until they get back together. But, she wants him to respect her, and he can't do that until she respects herself.

To his credit, after he got the hint, he left and gave her her space. In the past, that would not have happened. That is the difference good writing makes in a daytime drama. Now, they are acting like two people finding themselves and each other again. It has put some spark back into this pairing initially, because they had gotten downright boring under previous writers.

We don't know for sure that John and Marlena will reunite. Once Hogan gets in, all bets are off as to whether any of these "destined couples" will get back together. He can't be as predictable as JER was.

And they might now. If they don't then after being together off and on for twenty years, it maybe time to move on. But by the slight chance they do, it will make them a better couple. I'm personally open to both possibilities, as long as the writing is good.

I agree with you... Besides the last line. They were in love before that became a possibility. She loved him as Stefano for heck's sake.
