AMC: Umm where's Jamal?

Unless I missed something, I saw Jamal Cudahy one day. Is he still on the show and if so, why is he not one of the newbies that they stuff down your throat. Colby's been on how many days since she debuted? Doesn't he fit the qualifications to be on every day...pretty to look at.

If they were going to hire him and send him immediately to the blackburner, they should have kept their money and left his mother on contract.

Every time they appear to be shaping up, they turn around and do something stupid to make me lose faith in them. :(

I for one would like them to keep Jamal off screen until they can come up with a better story for him. I would not like to see him forced down my throat everyday and am glad that he isn't dominating the air time. That is a mistake that many soaps make and surprisingly AMC hasn't done that.

Yeah, it seems odd. The balance on this show is really awful. Maybe they should have cut that pedophile Jonathan and his annoying sister Erin (oh, Ryan too) and kept Livia and Opal on.

The best thing about McT leaving is that – I pray – the Lavery Family will be featured a whole lot less.

You mean they hired an actor and named him Jamal Cudahy (a character with history). but didn't have a storyline for him? How stupid.

As for dominating airtime, I doubt he would ever dominate airtime and there is a HUGE difference from going from 5 seconds of airtime to 5 days a week (like Kendall, Ryan, Zach and the rest of the golden squad). I think being shown every 5 days at least would be a start. If they were any kind of writers, he would have been on the next day talking with his mother and his aunt to establish his place on the canvas. How do you bring on a contract newbie and not have him on for weeks...what kind of sense does that make?

All his scenes had to be scrapped when they made him Jamal instead of RandomGuyNamedMarcus. I'm sure he'll be hogging the airtime soon once the re-written stuff starts airing.

That makes sense.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the answer! I have to doubt hogging airtime, but we will see.

I don't have much faith in NuJamal's character development.

They hire him to play Marcus, then change their minds at the last minute and made him Jamal.

Okay. :) So far, it sounded promising.

THEN, right as they re-work him to become Jamal, they put his on-screen mother off-contract.

Okay.

To make things worse, all of Jamal's family ties are either gone (Tom) or backburnered (MommaLivia, UncleDerek, CousinDani). <_<

So why bring on a character whose ties to Pine Valley are basically absent?

And if Erin Lavery is the answer to resolve the above question, JamalNotMarcus was better off not coming to town. I mean (taking my cue from Grey's Anatomy) SERIOUSLY!!!!

Does it really matter? My heroes will have him out the door as soon as they possibly can, hopefully!

If your heroes know anything, they will keep him...put his mother back on contract, have his uncle do more than show up to be angry man and have his cousin do more than play Mean Girls.

That's if your heroes are worth anything at all (well they should do all that and get rid of that guy in your signature). :)

And Daphne, I am trying to give them the benefit of the doubt...you know with the reduction of Reggie's time (ala the Reggie-Frankie switch), they need someone else to fill the space and NuJamal may be it.

I don't see why dead weight that is Jamal equals importance for Livia, Derek, and Danielle. I want Jeff and Amanda to push off as much of the dead weight as possible, and, with one episode AND a contract under his belt, Marcus Patrick is the deadest of the dead weight. He and Melissa Claire Egwhatever and Taylor Gilderwhatever should all be shown the door immediately.

There is still huge potential in Josh, I personally think. All it would take is a reverse of the reverse abortion. If they have to cut him too because they consider him dead weight, I'll live. Colin can find work elsewhere, and if he doesn't, he can be my babysitter. I'm serious.
