AMC: Would you send K. Alden there?

I'm beginning to think I would. Although, little is known about her writing abilities since she has worked only for The Young and the Restless. But somehow I think she would solidify AMC, bring some forcefulness and bring Erica back to business (literally as well as figuratively).

And she hasn't been a HW for quite a while. That is, she was always listed as HW or co-HW, but it was John F. Smith (Jack Smith) who wrote most of the storylines. I pretty much don't understand that practice of listing someone as HW when he/she clearly isn't doing that. I would understand if that someone is from the Bell family, but this...

Fact that McTavish is in a rut isn't the only problem – there's no-one to replace her. There were only a few truly great head writers insofar – William Bell, Douglas Marland, Harding Lemay, Agnes Nixon. And, of course, the infamous Irna Phillips, who created the genre and whose heritage is still quite alive – only Passions and General Hospital are without her (pretty much) direct influence.

And I just don't have enough information about subwriters to say he/she will be a good replacement for Megan. Being BDW is one thing, HW is something different.

So, what do you think?

That's a thought. Is this your pick or is this a rumor?

My pick. :)

It would be nice because she is talented, however I don't even see her leaving Y&R, she's been there 25 years and they seem to love her still.

She's a good choice, though I don't know how her style would work with the quirky characters on the show. I find that AMC is hard to write for because of characters like Babe, Krystal and JR. Very over the top and almost cartoony. I think that needs to end.

YES!

She is perfect for AMC. Not for this AMC...the only people who are a good fit for this AMC are Megan McTavish and James E. Reilly. But she is perfect for the real AMC. Not that anyone can compare to Nixon, but I think Alden is the closest thing to her in the business right now.

Frons (or Behr...or someone) DID approch Alden when Culliton was let go. I don't know who ended the courtship but I wish she'd been hired.

IIRC, Kay Alden was considered to be *part of the problem* at Y&R and has had little power for several years now.

Alden could be interesting but she is just obsessed with sperm and babies as McTavish is. When she was sole HW that's all she wrote about with the whole Ashley/Victor/Diane obsession with sperm story.

Don't be so cruel. :) At least, she's not obsessed with levitations, demonic posessions etc.

I guess many of us were right. McTavish was just fired.
