I’m aware that some people are complaining about how it would never be allowed to happen in real life, but Leslie hanging out (with snacks!) in the police station while Hayley was being booked was a stroke of genius! Getting to see her reactions to everything made the scene, in my opinion, one for the soap opera hall of fame. Yeah it’s unrealistic that the police would let anyone, especially an accused murderer like Leslie, sit there and be able to observe the proceedings but who cares? It’s a television show. it elevated the scene to a new level.

Yes, Joey knows that Heather is the Impaler. She directly told him this. This comes back to two issues I have with the show. One is the lack of showing and the constant telling us what happened. Had

There is nothing that screams classic, pre-80’s soap to me about how the stories are told, paced, and executed on this show. The assertion that viewers watching somehow can’t appreciate that type of s

I honestly don't think anyone here hates the show, but that is my perspective. I think people are frustrated because they had high hopes for the show. Maybe that was a mistake for some of us to expect

Avoiding that problem was so easy, too. Put Bill in a shirt -- not in a suit -- and forget the oxygen on the return to the hospital.

Maybe the writers thought it would be too distracting for viewers to see Bill NOT wearing a suit? Because the only time he’s ever not worn one is whenever he’s in the hospital. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Shame they dragged this out for a whole year when we could have gotten to this place earlier in the year like in the spring where there was a huge lull/period of boredom between Jan/Feb and May/June.

I think it went along just right. There was no need to rush it along. IMO.

I agree with this completely. I don’t know why EVERY soap is based around a bunch of wealthy people. On Y&R, companies change hands and CEOs are replaced so often that it ceases to matter anymore. Everyone is filthy rich so what difference does it make which company they are running on any given day? If we had soaps with middle class characters, there could be just as much drama if not more, and showrunners wouldn’t have to worry about having to show huge events offscreen because they don’t have the budget for it.

Sometimes I think it's just laziness. Re-watching 1995 AMC on Pluto in Canada I'm reminded that while they have several VERY wealthy characters on the show by this era (Adam Chandler, the Wildwind crew, and the Cortlands although they were less focused on) they still make a point of showing middle class and even relatively poor characters and bringing up that money IS an issue for these characters. Fast forward ten years later on AMC (and AMC held off on having an "all rich" cast of characters longer than many other soaps) and I think even when not everyone was meant to be rich, it seemed like already money never really was an issue for anyone--fly wherever at the drop of a hat, etc... And that was the state of most of the soaps by then. It's frustrating. I say laziness because if you don't have to deal with the realities of lack of money, you can use a lot more story shortcuts.

In a way I agree with you, and yet it still should have been executed better. We simply had too many "Passion" style scenes that were just the same thing over and over to fill the space--no sense of adding new complications, or details, or... anything. That's my problem with this kind of storytelling (and to be fair it's an issue with a lot of soaps...)

And for it all to come out in one episode in the tacky living room ... many of us were expecting the often talked about trip to St Barts to be the culmination. Hayley whisks Bill away, Dani puts the pieces together and wants to take off causing problems with Andre, Hayley moves locations so Dani and whoever lose track of them, Bill finally catches on and tries to escape and so on .

Also it’s time to make Hayley pregnant. Really bc if she blackmails Bill into calling the charges off or she is exonerated some other way, there is nothing keeping her tied to the DMV. I think the writers should make her pregnant which keeps her connected to the family. Bill would feel compelled to keep her around especially if she produces the male heir he does not have.

I also don’t think Bill should be able to walk away freely from her with everything he’s done. Let Hayley be a forever complication and consequence of his actions that he can’t get rid of as long as she is the mother of his son. That is something Dani will have to deal with if she ever entertains a reunion with him and of course it will piss off their daughters

I don’t think there was anything unrealistic about Leslie being there. What’s unrealistic is that this show doesn’t have a set for an interrogation room and jail cell which is why everything had to happen in the open police area.

THIS is what should happen. The writers should be on this thread, scribbling down ideas because much of the time, I think our ideas are pretty damn good!

Hayley never even came undone to lead to her pulling the gun. There could have been more drama with Lynnette, Randy could have gone down first and we see her fighting to survive, her falling for another man but determined to see her plan to Kill Bill through, the lingering elevator affair from what 6 months ago, like literally anything could have happened over the last year. And again, Bill (like Vernon, Anita, etc) is just talked about as being powerful.

Surely there is a plot twist with Bill coming because this is all messy…

And most of all, a story about a character losing a business would MEAN something because they wouldn’t have a million dollars sitting in the bank to rely on afterwards.

ITA...on Y&R everyone is supposedly rich for the most part. Where's the conflict in that???

And, I would love to really dig into Bill having to come to terms with the fact that he was totally scammed when he always thinks he knows best because he's an "alpha male."

What a week!!! It was soooo good and soapy. I can't wait to see how this all plays out.

Btw, I love Ashley Jones as the deliciously devilish Heather.
