Sad to hear this. I watch Emergency daily on MeTV. His role helped inspire countless people to want to be a paramedic/firefighter. R.I.P.

I never saw him on soaps but I watched Emergency! in the 1970s. I can still hear in my mind the head nurse answering the phone "Rampart!"

I remember Mantooth as having two stints as a fill-in Hal Munson on ATWT. Both stints were a few weeks.

One stint seemed longer. One was in '04 after Jack was declared dead.

Anyway, sad to hear of his passing. He wasn't quite Hal, but he exuded the same kind of quiet stability. RIP.

I left my thoughts in the Loving thread. Such a sexy, funny stud.

I was barely watching ATWT by then but from what I would read at the time it seemed like months. I know some fans were hoping he might take over permanently. I treasured Ben as Hal, I couldn't ever see anyone else, but Randolph kept the part in safe hands.

Just a quick scan has RM in the role when Em screws Paul in June 05. Ben was back sometime around the 7/29/05 episode. Randy could've been in around 9 months.

And the show is available on blu ray and in HD digitally. It looks very good in HD.

May he rest in peace.
