I don't know if you've watched today's episode yet, but I think there are lots of fun ways they could have written a scene where Laura calls Ric out on his past misdeeds and tells him he's not good enough for Elizabeth. But that's not the way they went; instead it was all about how Ric needed to cancel his romantic getaway with Liz in order to protect her from Sidwell, and I just found the whole thing insipid. And, I'm sad to say, not very convincingly acted by Genie Francis.

Unpopular opinion: Laura is the matriarch of GH, but the show would go on if she were written out tomorrow. Her character is so underwhelming and aimless. She moves from one plot point to the next (Ace, Heather, Esme, Lucky's bust return, Dalton and the worst mayor on record) without it meaning anything on the canvas. They need to kill off Nikolas and give her some interesting material.

-- I agree with you. I've found Laura insufferable for a good while, and she just gets worse and worse.

As you said, there was a way to write those scenes with Ric that would have made sense. What we saw did not. She just comes off as a complicit criminal who wants to pass judgment on others' crimes -- while moralizing. She has to be the most compromised mayor in America.

And don't get me started on the stupid reasoning for sending Kevin and the kid out of the country. Jesus.

It just feels like everything with Laura is forced. Are they just fulfulling her contract guarantee? Because the writing sucks and she's not turning any of that ish into sugar.

Yeah, Steve's lived in Nashville for a while. He probably had two homes but I remember SOD articles about he and his wife living next to Missy and Scott Reeves.
