The thing with Eva is that Ted isn't even trying to start her small. He is literally dumping everything on her. I would assume he would have other office workers/receptionists take up some extra duties in the meantime while Eva settled in considering she has no experience...yet yesterday he was talking a mile a.minute and then at the end was like oh and you'll be the go between for the contractors or whatever it was...I was like excuse me?

Same, me saying "excuse me?"

Did the audience always know that Kat had been Ted's office manager, or was this pulled out of a hat a week or so ago?

And as much as I love Eva, with so little management experience, it is a bit of a stretch for her to suddenly become the office manager for a well known big-city plastic surgeon. Eva has made her living as a successful hair-dresser, and then worked in Nicole's office as a sub for maybe two-months. It would have been more believable for Ted to hire Eva in a lower-level office position, and then promote her to office manager in a few months.  And don't nobody tell me, "it's just a soap."

We've known she worked for Ted since week 1 or 2, we just never saw her actually there

If Hayley was faking pain then her timing was terrible because she pulled that number too quickly.

Eva was being deliberately messy when she came over to Kat and Tomas' table. I get the sense that Kat decided she is ready just because of Eva and Tomas' conversation about reading the same book.

I really could have done without Joey being in on Martin's secret.

Agreed.  I can understand all the other men being in on the secret.  But where does Joey fit in? Martin's secret has turned out to be a very intriguing storyline.  I just hope the resolution lives-up to all the "build-up."  And i'm fairly confident it will.

The heat messed with my head today. I didn't even think to jump over here while watching live. lol.

Eva/Kat for me is still the show's breakout rivalry. Tomas is a dud with Kat, but for some reason he improves greatly when Eva is around. He's gotten much better since the first days. He still needs work though if that triangle is going to be a lead story.

I loved Dani/Bill today. The vulnerability given to Dani was great to see. I hope they pull in more of the softer side of Dani. She can't be full-out all the time.

The group that protected Martin is such a weird group of characters to put together and yet I'm all for it! I can't wait to find out what part each played. Also, to know that Ted knew all along won't go over with Nicole when it all comes out! Nor, Dani when she finds out Bill's part, I'm assuming. This right after they have "a moment".

I don't want Jacob or Smitty to get hurt. I like them being buddies being on the right side of things. Of course, it prob won't last long.

I don't think Hayley is faking pains. I just hope she doesn't lose the baby this quickly...even though I don't want Hayley saddled with a little one yet. It's just too early to drop this story.

This is an ongoing issue for me.

Martin, the dynamic congressman who is never working.

Naomi the idealistic lawyer w/o an office or co workers

Vanessa spoke about her team of realtors but no workspace etc

And so on...

agree re Ted giving Eva so much responsibility. I don't believe Kat was doing all of that either.

So much more believable had it been an assistants job. Still enough of a daunting challenge for Eva.

I, too, wondered what Joey's involvement was in this plot. Is there some very specific reason why he's in this? The other five men are more easy to explain. Vernon and Ted because they are Martin's father and grandfather. Bill because he's a former member of the family and wanted by Vernon for dirty work purposes. Elon and Marcel I'm pretty certain were wanted by Vernon for the same reasons and were both likely given a sizable amount of $$$ for their participation.

Joey?

Maybe it's about money for him too?

Could it be that Martin ordered an escort from Joey's company and this escort clearly took advantage of the fact that Martin is a known congressman? Things just went south or got dangerous?

I had a feeling it could be sex work related but for no real reason at all. It just came to mind a week ago and this could be completely off. But with all the scandals in congress relating to sex work and closeted sex...I wondered if they were taking inspiration.

Me thinks Martin/Smitty have had problems in their marriage for awhile now.. and perhaps Martin did utilize some male company and things got a bit too rough/violent.. and Martin defended himself and the person ended up hurt/killed... or maybe Kenneth was that escort?   It could explain the sexual undertone to his scenes with Martin.

And maybe one of the reasons Martin didn't want Smitty to go back to work was because he knew Smitty would probably end up digging and finding out the secret.  Just a theory.

There has been a thing with homophobic men luring gay guys to their death using apps. I think that would be a bold move if they went there. I find it so odd that Smitty saw what he did and didn't try to find out what happened. That has me side eyeing him now. I will say though that I love how so many of the characters have a little grey to them instead of being all good or bad.

Today's episode was another home run! I cannot wait for each episode to find out this damn secret!

It’s time to recast or write out Tomas. This guy cannot act or string together a believable sentence.

He's not getting any better or more comfortable. I'm just not seeing it.  I love the guy's looks and voice, but the acting is soooooo rough.

Joey is definitely a bad guy. He's all but admitted to being a criminal to Vanessa and Doug. He's laundering money which is illegal and has threatened Doug's life. Elon and Marcel may be exonerated but Joey still is dirty.

Which begs the question why Joey the Mobster and all these other tough guys and all these guys with tons of money cannot shut up a racist busboy.

The mystery is good, and I am enjoying it, but it's hard to believe this crew wouldn't put that busboy away in no time.

I agree about Eva. I know most people side with her because Kat is so extra, but the bottom line is that Kat is right about her. She's right about Eva lying for her mother and covering up big crimes.

Same. I want the guy off the show, not more involved.

-- Did anyone else catch Jacob pronouncing "rhetoric" incorrectly, placing the accent on the second syllable as in "rhe-TOR-ic" instead of "RHE-tor-ic"? He may have been thinking of the word "rhe-TOR-i-cal" but someone should have corrected him before that made it to tape.

Seems like it's leaning towards being a robbery that went wrong. Vernon has practically said it wasn't Martin's fault and the constant mention of money by the racist waiter and his brother tried to rob Martin. Martin hit the brother with a tire iron and possible killed or injured him permanently.

My original theory was that a younger Martin was involved with a closeted older man and there was some sort of incident that both sides wanted covered up.

But now we know different, although some elements could still be there.

Let's hope the explanation works for us.

I haven't watched today's episode yet, so I don't have that perspective which could chang my mind. I do keep seeing it mentioned that the reveal is something different or unexpected. A self defense murder over a robbery seems pretty on brand for a soap - I'm guessing there might be several layers there though since so many characters are involved. Honestly, the worst kept secret 😆

Whatever it is, I hope it is good. I am finally feeling some anticipation on this soap.

Oh, but this makes it "edgy."

(No, you're absolutely right, this was a terrible decision).
