I’ve been waiting for this Sami/Johnny scene from the moment I heard we were getting this storyline, and I couldn’t be happier that it finally happened. Their scenes today were amazing. Whoever worked on today’s script put a lot of time, care and effort into these scenes and I really appreciate that.

I was very impressed by Ali Sweeney and Carson Boatman’s performances today. They both did a really good job, and honestly, should get their Emmy reels ready. And they work well together and are totally believable as mother and son. Sami talking about her past with Alan Harris, with John/Roman/Marlena, with Carrie and Austin, confessing to Johnny that she raped Austin and the reveal that she’s now in therapy were surprises that I didn’t see coming, and I loved it. To me, it feels like a natural progression for the character. She’s finally growing up lol. And I really appreciate the way the character of Sami has been treated lately. For the first time in years, she feels like an actual character instead of just a plot device/troublemaker, and that’s the way that it should be. I still hope Johnny doesn’t forgive EJ yet though.

And, we got confirmation that Will knows about the rape too. Too bad that Ron lost interest in him because Will and EJ had such an interesting dynamic when James Scott played him. It would’ve been nice to see if the dynamic would’ve still been good with Dan Feuerriegel.

Paulina trying to get justice for Sami could be interesting as well.

And, it was great seeing Vivian again. She adds another dynamic to this whole Kiriakis family mess, and that’s always a good thing.

Just this second finished watching today & it was really an amazing day & that was all down to excellent writing supported by quality acting. When DAYS actually tries to do good soap, they can still hit it outta the ball park!

Major kudos. Way to go! And, again, welcome back Sami & Vivian, you've been missed.

Great episode!  I really hope Ali gets scenes with Deidre because this entire Sami self-realization would be nice to share with her mother.   It's also sad to me that Sami never got full closure with John.

I wish we could've been privy to Sami's therapy sessions.  "Why did I go after Austin so hard like that, you ask?  Because, the devil literally told me to!"

I agree.  Try as they might to pretend that Sami had good reasons to resent John's presence in all their lives, the fact remains that it was he, and not Roman, who acted as her father throughout her formative years.  If anything, Sami should've been fighting for John and Marlena to stay together and NOT for her to remain with Roman.

It's always been a weird push for Sami to hate John after all these years and it flip flopped back and forth. She named her son after John.

I get it's traumatizing to see your mother and faux dad bang on a conference table.  But John never wronged Sami on purpose and truly loves her mother.  I know John and Sami have rehashed things forever, but it still makes me sad there wasn't a conclusion on the whole thing.

Echoing the positive sentiments for the Sami/Johnny scenes. I've been waiting for Alan to be brought up, and the fact they went into her mistakes, especially with Austin was surprising and all the more heartbreaking. None of the historical mentions felt forced. They were gradual and meaningful. Sami was an early favourite of mine and was for years until the dominant years with her and EJ. To see her reclaim her place and her peace was outstanding.

I was very nervous about these scenes. Sami was the reason I really became hooked on Dool as a kid. I loved her, loved the friends-enemies-lovers story with Lumi, loved her relationships with her siblings and her parents (especially when she and John got along).

However, the EJ story 2008 and on really soured me and I came to despise her. The first parts of scene with her and Johnny were done really well and they covered a lot of ground in an organic way. The Ejami hater in me just couldn't do with the "loved him more than anyone else" dialogue.

I would have really loved for this story to be done back when Lumi had their affair before the kidnapping debacle. Will, Lucas and Allie should have all been a part of this, as so much of the EJ junk affected them as well.

Just another example of what could happen when you don't give actors enough rehearsal time.  At the very least, it would've been CB and BF's chance to get the laughs out of their systems so they could really sell the fight later on in taping.  (Of course, as ridiculous as the show's writing often is, I don't blame them for having near-laughing fits while taping, lol).

Agree with all of that. There's no rehearsal time and they clearly won't do more takes unless an entire wall falls down. Carson and Billy were both THISCLOSE to breaking and laughing out loud, and it hurt those scenes a great deal.

Loved the old school set up of everyone realizing how much they hate EJ and grabbing their guns. Only thing that was missing was a stormy night. Also like Ava scurrying out of the country right after.

Who does everyone think shot him?

Cant wait to get to the Sami episodes.

Ironically, I don't think Will and Allie are necessary, although their responses are interesting, they never thought of EJ as a father.  I think the missing component is Carrie.  The sibling rivalry is what really starts everything, so it would be captivating to see that union healed.  Unfortunately, Carrie has such a tenuous relationship with Salem, that it might not have as much of an impact, but would provide closure.

Agreed.

Regressing their relationship over and over again was a big mistake.

Maybe Doc will take over once she gets back from Estonia 😂

Agreed.

As much as I'm liking this storyline, the three of them really should be a part of it.
