Is this Frankie V using the cap space losing Jeff Kober provides?

When I see Cosgrove I think back on that run in the 00s where every long running show he’d join got cancelled. Its a miracle Days is still chugging.

DAYS still hasn't been canceled, on the network or not.

I have no real use for Cosgrove, but he initially joined AMC 15 years before it was canceled, and GL almost a decade before it was canceled. He's the Ted McGinley of daytime in that any show he joined that was canceled was already on its last legs (and several, like Married with Children or Dynasty, still went on for a while).

This does feel like another case of Frank trying to hire any daytime vet who is willing to show up, because this either reminds him of happier years or he is so stuck in the past he actually believes this will get someone new to tune in.

I actually think Cosgrove would be more suited to Beyond the Gates as one of their supporting white characters. He's a competent but not very interesting actor who won't steal the spotlight.

I wonder if he does stay around if he's intended as a new love interest for Carly, as I doubt Brennan is going to stay around long.

Do I really think Daniel Cosgrove is a show killer?  No.  But he IS a very boring actor, which, as we all know, is Frank's favorite kind.

Meanwhile, at the rate they're going, they'll have to relocate to the L.A. Coliseum just to tape everyone.

Right. Sometimes people think NBC canceled them but I don't think that actually happened. Instead I think because the "Beyond Salem" projects were thought of as positives, and likely because they wanted the subscriber base, Peacock actively wanted it.

When GH was panic-casting for NuJack, Danny Cosgrove read, with Laura, but wasn't chosen, but as often happens, MarkT or whomever tagged him as someone they liked enough to want, for *some* possible role.

I wondered if he is for Nina but it's because she's been solo for so long & also because she's more or less comfortable with the political arena.

I also think the show will cut Brennan lose after they transfer a bunch of bad character aspects to him but that's also just speculation.

    • If you ever make it to the Paley Center in NYC (fka Museum of TV and Radio), in their viewing room, you can watch Days 1/1/73 featuring Denise Alexander as Susan. It’s her last month on the show before switching to GH.
    • Overall I was impressed with this week and fall out from the revealation.  I am looking forward to seeing the Nicole/Dana showdown next week.  I do wonder if June is going to be tied to Hayley.
    • I thought Adam and Sara got married? Although I do not remember any mention of her when Adam returned for Blake's weddings. But MA certainly got the short end of the stick storywise, as Marland's obsession with therapy reared it's head.
    • Didn’t Meg Bennett return to SFT as a writer in the last few years. I always wondered if they tried to get her back as Liza.
    • Millette Alexander got the short end of the stick once they killed off Joe. The Justin thing was a non-starter. Then she was briefly married to Alan's corrupt lawyer and HE was killed off. She was paired briefly with Adam and that ended because she believed Holly over Roger about the rape. Definitely, Marland had zero interest in her except as the therapist for the many, many of his female characters who needed therapy. It's not odd she left the show. One of the rare 1978 episodes on YT shows Alan going to Cedars for a physical check-up. He ends up with Sarah as his doctor. In between making mysoginistic comments about women doctors, he also openly flirts with her. It's very obvious they were chem testing Sarah and Alan. It's a really good scene. Bernau is both obnoxious and charming and Millette is amazing, trying to be pleasant and profesional without rolling her eyes at him, but at the same time maybe a LITTLE bit attracted to him. An interesting what-might-have-been. So it appears the Dobsons were actively looking for someone to pair her with, they just never found the right one for a long-term story.
    • I'm happy to read whatever you provide, @Paul Raven.

    • First, let me say I love reading all of your takes and thoughts. They always provide a different point of view... a breath of fresh air... in this sometimes stuffy topic.

You've inspired me to add my 2 cents about this product placement debacle.  I absolutely HATE the way they are doing product placement in BTG. I really hope this doesn't catch on or evolve into more and more of these moments. It's incredibly off-putting to place them in a highly dramatic moment where we are still on the emotional journey with the character. What is next - Dani spraying the house while having a nervous breakdown? It makes me not want to buy the product they're selling. LOL. That's just me.
    • I always get the vibe that Martin/Smitty have an emotional abusive relationship set up... but I doubt the show will really go there with that element given that Martin is a Dupree (and we can't have the Duprees be portrayed in a negative light), and because it's a gay male relationship.   Even though abuse in the physical or emotional sense is a huge thing in a lot of gay and lesbian relationships. The Ashley/Naomi scene reads off to me for one reason....  Ashley was talking about the new scandal without any sort of mention and/or subtext.. considering she knew both Silk Press Sheila and Eva.  I'm not sure if the writers have forgotten, if Jen Jacobs isn't able to play subtext, or what.   It's just apparent the writers do not know how to write a young white millennial couple.. and perhaps they need to get a younger white script writer to be on staff... or let the actors play around with the lines to make them more natural/realistic.
