From the Mishael Morgan interview above:
At the end of the interview she says there is a party coming up for the Dumas reveal, they built a whole new set for it, it's going to be fun and very beautiful.

Dumas Reveal Party

Canadian day-ahead recap for
Thurs. May 29 CDN (Fri. May 30 USA) ...
https://soapsspoilers.com/the-young-and-the-restless/recaps/yandr-day-ahead-dumas-invitations-nikki-party
and another recap here:
https://yandrrecaps.com/recaps/yr-recap-may-30-nikki-celebrates-birthday-mysterious-invitations-from-dumas/

some characters are preparing to attend Nikki's birthday party, some are avoiding it, some are arriving at the party.... meanwhile...

Lily tells Damian about her past marriages to Daniel and Cane... and she mentions that Cane is the father of her children.

Damian, Lily, Jack, Diane, Victor, Nikki, Nick, Victoria,  Michael, Lauren, etc, each receive invitations from Aristotle Dumas. Dumas is having a private party in the south of France on Friday June 13th.  The invitation mentions something about "an extended stay in his summer home" departing from Nice, France (possibly on a yacht ? ? )
At the end of the episode, in the preview for week of June 2nd, Billy discusses with Sally that he is going to the Dumas party, too.

[Ashley was there when Jack and Diane received their invitations. Not sure if Ashley gets an invitation or not; but Ashley was already planning to go back to France for mental health therapy.]

So I guess it's the Newmans, the Abbotts, the Winters, and Michael/Lauren, (so far) who are in process of receiving invitations. And Chancellor Industries is involved due to Nikki.  Of course Amanda as Dumas' attorney would be there.  I assume other characters will be included also.

Lol so true.

I would say it would be wayyy more interesting if Dumas was revealed to be Hilary alive in the flesh since we have MM back at the moment.

OR since JG likes to bring back dead babies why just not have Dumas turn out to be Jack & Nikki’s lost son John III?

What I’m not looking to forward to is Jason Thompson and Billy Flynn having screaming matches in Chancellor Park or worse, a boxing match @YRfan23

Four times now actually lol since JG started in 2019.

First it was Adam.

Then it was the double bill of Richard Burgi and Robert Newman as Ashland Locke.

Then it was Tucker.

And fourthly it was Jeremy Stark.

The Dumas story already had the red herring that Damien was Dumas.

Problem is no one cares about Dumas, and we’re even less interested if it turns out to be the Albatross.

Would make sense to me if it was, especially since Amanda is working for Dumas.

A few years ago, Mishael wrote about some extended family circumstances (which I won't detail here), and she said that she began a process of reevaluating what was important for her life. After she left Y&R, she decided to live mainly in the Toronto region near family.  She did a short arc on Chicago Med, but has mainly worked in Canada.  Obviously she is willing to do some work in the USA.  But I don't know if she still prefers to be based in Canada.  She has definitely enjoyed producing films.  Would she consider coming back to Y&R fulltime? I don't know.  Based on what she said a few years ago, it's unlikely, but who knows.

Adam is a strong enough character and they've had several successful recasts. The other high profile recasts of poor characters? Nah.

And I think both Burgi and Newman were set up to fail honestly - on paper that role (another handsome tycoon) and those actors could've worked, but the story sucked and got burnt through fast. Also, pairing them with Heinle, I just don't get it.

Suuuure did do this with Tucker. Which is why I had to light shade that.

They should have left well enough alone given Damien as the Head as already a great story with unexpected twists and turns even with the haphazard writing. For once, it seem JG had a story worth watching and included characters that were not always used too much. One plot twist too many.

It probably should have worked better with Fluckers as that character did not have as much baggage, but even if they'd cast someone who could act, I'm not sure it would have mattered, as I guess it won't here. Jason Thompson did some good work on GH, but any time I see him on Y&R (I don't watch a ton, admittedly), he just looks like he needs prune juice.

I was happy for JT that he had somewhere to land after GH, as during his last year or two there he looked like he was on suicide watch onscreen as Patrick was reduced to another clueless male plot widget under Carlivati. But he was always a miscast as Billy so Jill could bring in a friend, and he frankly now looks older than sin vs. the character.

I think Tucker actually could've worked with Trevor in the role as TSJ has very visibly aged since OLTL, but the writing was never there and even with good writing he can bore very easily and start calling audibles onscreen. It just felt like they never had a plan.

    • There has been some confusion about Michael & facial burns. Please see this post: https://bsky.app/profile/shallotpeel.bsky.social/post/3lqkrryu54226 I've chosen to put this here instead of the Classic Thread because it is now with the appearance of recast Michael that this has come up. Different places online, including at least one podcast, remarks have been made about how remarkable it is that he is without facial scarring. Other fans say it was clear from the first that he did not have facial burns. What is included in this post is 2 screengrabs where you can see his face at the hospital & a very quick edit of that day in the hospital.
    • Put me in the LOVE KMH camp. As a poster alluded to above, her detractors seem to come from people who first experienced the 80s Emily actress. And that's often the case with soaps, myself included. I enjoy the original actor so much that I just never take to the recast. However, KMH played Emily far longer than the original - for almost 20 years - and when she had great material, she was great. I get the sense she didn't like playing the whiny oh-woe-is-me Emily which was all the material she got from about 1996 until she took over the Intruder in late '99/early '00 and got to play a stronger kiss-ass woman who didn't care what anyone thought of her. (Some would call that a bitch but, if a man was in that role, he'd just be called a smart and savvy businessman.) Her relationship with Hal was great. The transformation was done realistically and I thoroughly enjoyed those years the best out of all. Once the writers decided to break up those two, they went back to writing Emily half the time as whiny and pathetic. I preferred when the writers made her stronger.
    • Hahaha - I do. I've always been the type, though, that can't miss anything. I get FOMO, so I'll not skip episodes or fast forward anything. There are only a few TV shows I've dropped because they got so bad vs. sticking it out to the end.  The promise that GL 1997 is better is what keeps me going. I especially want to see the fallout of Blake's lie about her twins and then Annie's descent which I believe won Watros's Emmy.
    • Rita's rape is an episode i constantly search on YouTube hoping one day that it will show up. I always feel like I may have seen it, but I was only 6 at the time and can never figure any of the things I have vague recollection of
