I reeeeeeealy want to know the truth about how Alan died now.

I'd also like to know if they'll expand on Leslie's line about her theater days. I wonder if we'll see more costumes and wigs down the line

I always like reading people's differing thoughts. What didn't you like about it ?

No soap opera is perfect, but BTG makes all the other current soaps look like they are written for 13 year-olds.  And the writers on BTG don't talk down to their audience.  I finally feel like I'm watching a soap opera written for adults.  Thank you MVJ!!

Ding, ding, ding! This is smartly written, and it's clear CBS, CBS Studios, NAACP, Procter & Gamble Studios, Sheila Ducksworth, and company believe in Michele Val Jean and her team to make the creative decisions necessary for this soap to proceed, and it's refreshing, because I don't feel like from the other four American daytime soaps. Beyond the Gates reminds me of the days of watching soaps as a child with my mother during the summer months.

AMEN! I second this. Thank you MVJ. Thank you for giving us something new, something fresh... thank you for gracing us with Silkpress Sheila... trashy Hayley... and even... Dani.

I completely agree. While the show is not horrible I don't think all the storylines were thought out for long-term storytelling. I felt the same way about the family tree, and am happy to see a few others starting to see what a clocked in week one. On a positive note, it is only week 3 and MVJ has plenty of time to change the set up.

High five for more gay crew members. Hate to say it, but I think this will become common on the show. Outside of maybe a handful of shirtless scenes throughout the summer.

It wasn't a bad episode I just did not feel the excitement as everyone else did regarding Leslie's shenanigans. It lacked mystery and intrigue for me. I am pretty old school I guess, I love those build-up scenes of the villain getting dressed before they make their entrance. I am not anticipating the interactions as I would have. Hope that makes sense lol.

And me.

    • The whole AMC 2.0 pulled it together in mere weeks to get a show up and running, with scripts and a cast.

Ginger Smith seemed really passionate about being in the executive producer position, and I think she really did a fantastic job in six weeks. It was just well done.
    • I totally didn’t pick up on that. Just perfect! I don’t get the Maurice Johnson hate around here at all. He didn’t take me out of the scenes at all. I understood everything he was portraying. It was great. I do wonder if there will be a personality shift with the new actor, whom I’m still not excited about. Exactly. Right? I’m in the exact same boat as you. Agree with most of this except I never found anything off with Ted, didn’t suspect a thing. I just watched yesterday’s episode and it was one of the best soap episodes I’ve seen in a very long time. I was enthralled the entire time. Just fantastic.
    • Yep! Very curious to see where this goes.
    • I was confused too, but I think it was always a "tribute thread" (this one and OLTL's were created when their cancellations were announced). They just changed the show abbreviations to their titles spelled out, I guess to make the board just a little bit more uniform. I was lost, too lol
    • Well... I am. I think she's losing her initial menacing presence. Slowly but surely. I need the crazy dialed back. But as I said... this is very miniscule negative reaction. I am loving the show right now. We'll see how they'll continue after the fireworks.
    • Oh, I am so looking forward to the reveal about Laura's accident, and Nicole and Leslie having a real one on one.
    • I'm not seeing that right now. I'm stepping out on faith and believeing MVJ will not turn "Silk" into a ridiculous caricature.
    • One little... very little... tiny... minuscule negative comment. I was debating if I should care to say it... In some ways... Silk has been acting clownish... I think they need to dial it back, because if this continues with the current pace... she'll be worse than Sheila in terms of getting totally predictable and not menacing anymore. TMG is one hell of an actress... I just want to see a more normal and less clownish Silkpress in the coming weeks*months. We need to dial down the wigs too. It's becoming a funny caricature and we don't want that. Maybe we do, I'm not sure. I just like her more menacing and sinister than... "Hahhahahah what is she wearing today". That's a personal preference.   So far... I am okay with it... but I have fears this may turn into a really tired joke in the future. I want TMG as long as possible on my screen!
    • Not really short-lived as GH went to color in 1967, so the blue background actually lasted about twice as long as the black background. You can see it at the very beginning of this set of clips from 1974:

Also would like to put it out there in the universe, as I often do, that the wait for any AMC from 1972-1976 has been too damn long. At this point, it is the only long-running soap (10+ years) that has absolutely zero video clips from that time period online. We have either whole episodes or clips from every year of the show's run except those five, which happen to be the exact years when one of my favorite characters I've never actually seen, Margo Flax, was a major player. Justice for Margo, please.
