10-8

Outside of the Alexis/Martin scenes and those Jason/Anna/Beast scenes (not that I don't mind staring at Charles Masure and the uhhh interesting camera angles on Steve Burton), this was another interesting episode to me.

I can't believe how much I liked the Carly/Lucas scenes. He makes her so much more tolerable. Color me shocked. I feel that while Lucas has been in all the episodes since VH first aired, it does not at all feel forced. Okay, Carly always around does lol, but his return feels organic and slowly/well-paced.

The next leg of Lucky's return has started. I continue to be surprised that while I hated the first part of it with him NOT being in Port Carles, that I feel so invested in him this week. His talk/denial with Liz. His talking to Lulu and sadly Rocco hearing him (and that little actor did such a good job IMHO). And his meltdown at Bobbie's. My issues aside, JJ is starting to feel comfortable being back and it shows.

Yay for Felicia getting a little mini-story with the other PI who is probably working for Martin. But I'm enjoying how Holly also returning with Lucky is lighting up things with her, Mac, Diane, and Robert. Vets doing their thing. Love it! As I did Holly and Robert finally seeing each other. Poor Mac.

Oh...Sam has already dived once to look for the gun. Interesting.

Yay!!!

There was chemistry between Cody and Brad. Can't deny it.

Same. It made no sense -- none -- for Portia to verbally discipline Brad because she saw him hug Cody. I get that the writers want to give Brad more reason to dislike Portia and make moves against her, but they need to do better than this. That verbal reprimand made no sense.

Disagree with this. I think Van Hansis' acting is natural and authentic. I prefer that to obvious emoting.

The accent was gone by the end of the episode; again, when she snaps or is even startled, the accent is turned on and in that moment, her accent snapped on. Not the first time it's happened since the Robin Finch episodes.

As evident from the September 17 episode, where Lois clearly did not have an accent, until she was heated and it "turned on".

and then by the end of the episode, the accent was "off":

I’m so mad it looks like Dante is going to stop Sonny from confessing so he will get away with yet another murder. It would not be GH if Sonny wasn’t made out to be a fuc.king martyr. He HAD to kill Jagger

    • no argument here! and as she was singing, i kept wondering how many verses ‘amazing grace’ had. looked it up: 13 — 13! — and i think she must have sung  every one.
    • Yasss, ANITA!!! GET HER!!!   Awww at Smitty calming Martin down.   'Oh, you're the one leaving.' That face like stone. Go 'head, Nicole.    Eva vs Kat...the gift that keeps giving.
    • I have to admit I still have a nagging complaint about timelines - Why aren't we allowed to know how long Ted and Nicole have been married or how old Kat and Eva are? Or for that matter, when Anita last released an album? BTG is a new show with no SORAS or timewarping. MVJ and Guza are working from a fresh bible. There is no need to be so coy about ages and anniversaries, especially when most of the storylines are driven by past events.
    • It was an extremely rare interview even then - I was shocked when I read it (as mentioned I'd forgotten just how far in she went). You could see how hurt and annoyed she was. I'm surprised he thought she came up with the baby story herself. She and Charles Keating did a good job with the material but it was absolute hokum. Even if they loved Carl and Rachel (and clearly they did), I don't see them coming up with stuff that, frankly, read like Geocities fan fic. Malone was clearly hobbled by NBC and P&G, but re-using so many of his old stories and his soap bible instead of actually coming up with material suited to the characters or show did not help.
    • Seeing this trash get good ratings says nothing good about daytime audiences. It's embarrassing.
    • Cat does feel committed to being a goofball (the other term has been reconsidered in recent years).  I wonder, given her brother Aaron, if Cat was less attractive prior to the surgery?  Remember the 1973 movie The Girl Most Likely to?  My fanfic for the moment is Cat commenting on how people treat her differently now that she is gorgeous.  One assumes that pre-surgery, Cat never had two men fighting over her for a date.  So, it might be fun to see that side of the story.
    • It's probably one of the only conflicts the story will have, aside from Dante being upset with Lulu when the truth comes out. They really needed someone else who actually knows Gio is Dante and Brook Lyn's son and kept quiet.
    • So Cat wasn't a creation of Ron C.. but something that the strike writers generated? Perhaps the new writers will give her some layers and purpose on the show that doesn't revolve around Chad since isn't he on his way out next year?
    • Another good show today, but -- Why is super agent Joss holding that thumb drive in plain sight instead of stashing it in her denim shorts? Make it make sense. -- Dante going after Gio (in the previews) for Rocco's alcohol poisoning is lame and cliche, just a contrived way to drive a wedge between father and son.
    • Didn't he get all angry because the strike writers set her up to be Abigail? And he just went with the first thing that came to mind in order to prevent that?
